All this JM vs PG talk will just go on and on.

To put it kindly everyone can and will have their own opinion, The stats are what count and a Manager that has excelled with an average team ( compared to the Giants of Europe ) in his home nation and do what he has done proves in my mind he is a great Manager.

Where as, Pep has been ever so fortunate to Manage a great Barcelona team, A very successful Bayern who have no real competition really and now he is at Man City. The team with lots of money buying success.

If Pep was managing Palace or Bournemouth would you expect him to win the PL.

Now if JM was managing either then I'm sure he would be very close to lifting the trophy. I honestly believe JM has the same mentality as SAF in making the players believe they are miles better than they are added with the fact of making the players believe that they are hated and expected to fail by everyone.

JM can make below par players play out of their socks. Pep does not have experience working with players like this and would have to take early retirement if he did.

IMO I hope he fails at city and then the hype of the rose tinted glass wearers will finally see who is better.

If Pep was so good then I'm sure he would have been tested when him and Fergie had that private dinner.

So why was he not approved by SAF then?

Agree4 Disagree0

The pep/ jose debate is the new Rooney debate. Its all subjective tbh and all that matters is who does best over the next 3 year period (assuming at least one of them moves on at that stage) .

They're both top managers, I'm not sure why people are so hung up about declaring one to be better than the other, right now.

{Ed041's Note - it's just the hype of Pep that annoys me mate, i still think he has much to prove.

reddevil
was there a chance he was approved by saf but wanted to go to munich?

06 Sep 2016 18:42:51
Both Pep and Jose have had it easy in terms of inheriting top teams and having bucket loads of cash to spend, however both are still good managers.

{Ed041's Note - while I agree with Pep would you of classed Porto and Inter as top teams when he was there?

06 Sep 2016 18:54:02
Porto were very lucky in the UCL, decent refereeing would have seen us beat Porto, but they had the cash and best players in the Portugal league for sure. Inter, albeit a shocking serie A, they were the best side by far and had the best players.

{Ed041's Note - totally different! I not asking if they were the best teams in there leagues, i was asking if they were the best in europe? I dont think so. that or Mou got lucky twice

I agree with that Chris and said as much in the summer - I just see it as a question mark against Pep rather than a reason to write him off. And to be fair Jose has his question marks too. Its possible to nit pick at anyone's record, it depends on perspective I guess. The next couple of seasons will give us many answers to this debate but for now, they're both top managers in my book.

{Ed041's Note - I agree with Chris to.

im with hb and 41 on this.

I think without doubt Jose has earned his reputation far more than Pep has. City is Pep's biggest challenge, so we'll all see what he's really made of. I think he got lucky with Porto for sure, but Inter was a decent achievement for sure. Not because they had a poor side, but because there were better teams in the competition that year.

Ask yourself this. If we had a straight choice between Pep and Jose as Manager who would you pick? Many would pick Pep, including me.

06 Sep 2016 20:20:26
I'd pick Jose, Pep has built nothing, won with teams inherited, don't get the hype with him tbh.

06 Sep 2016 21:01:21
Id pick jose all day. Pep is Lvg 2.0 guys just a bit advanced in terms of attacking and moving the ball faster.

{Ed041's Note - I would of gone with Jose, for many reasons but mainly becuase we could ill afford another poor season. If the team was a winning team id maybe of plumped for Pep

06 Sep 2016 21:03:25
Jose. Begrudgingly.
