Qatari Royal family trying to buy Manchester United apparently. Be very surprised if Glazers sold without legacy bonuses or whatever.

1.) 02 Sep 2017 20:42:44
Old story doing the rounds from 2011. i think the glazers will see through one more round of tv deals at least before selling.

2.) 02 Sep 2017 21:05:14
Yes I have no doubt this is regurgitated news. And I think with Brexit we will have the Glazers for many more years. Just my opinion.

3.) 03 Sep 2017 02:43:49
Surely Brexit and the resulting weak pound makes it a more attractive proposition? Or would it be purchased in dollars as it's listed on the NYSE?

4.) 03 Sep 2017 09:10:58
Unless after seeing how transfer fees have gone this year they don't want to be spending 300 million every summer.

5.) 03 Sep 2017 11:40:55
USD probably going to be smashed soon, (already getting hammered), so whilst GBP and USD are weak it may be an opportune time for a deal. Especially with Qatar sanctions and other geo-political problems emerging in Qatar they may want to act quickly to secure more solid overseas assets that aren't dependent on natural gas for example.

6.) 03 Sep 2017 13:14:44
Im sure Ed002 mentioned maybe 18 month back that the Glazers were actually looking to sell around now, can any of the Eds confirm this?

{Ed002's Note - The exchange rate has shelved plans most foreign owners had for selling for now.}

20 Aug 2017 22:57:23
Ibrahimovic to sign next week, but Lukaku to remain the main striker.

This would indicate he'll be fit before January.

1.) 21 Aug 2017 06:26:47
Did the ed not say the return of ibra would mean the end of martial?

2.) 21 Aug 2017 08:14:11
I don't think Martial and Ibra play in the same position. I do think Martial and Rash are strikers, but will be used as wingers, so that leaves Lukaku as our only striker. It make sense to have at least 2 natural strikers.

3.) 21 Aug 2017 12:30:38
I don't see how, Martial will continue to operate from the wide left and Jose has said what a change there has been in Martial.

4.) 23 Aug 2017 13:52:14
wouldn't be the end and is quite laughable to even suggest it.
Ibra is purely another option as he isn't like the other strikers we have.

20 Aug 2017 19:19:12
Ibra to sign next week. Lukaku will remain first choice.

Does this mean he's back sooner than first thought?

1.) 20 Aug 2017 21:05:14
I hope he is 2nd choice and his ego doesn't demand a starting spot, we look miles more fluid and dangerous on the counter without him.

2.) 20 Aug 2017 21:17:29
Agreed, not a bad player to have on the bench though. And the other players love him so he is no problem in the dressing room. Not this one anyway. We already have a massive team, imagine chucking him and Fellaini on for set pieces when we need a goal. Along with all the other tall lads in the side.

3.) 20 Aug 2017 22:52:39
Great news. can't have too many winners knocking about the place. i'm sure he has been made aware of the pecking order. The players do appear to love him and what he brings. It also gives us a more like for like replacement if lukaku gets injured so we won't have to alter the way we play.
He brings a lot to the camp and is a good example for the young lads to follow. A great option off the bench he scores goals.

4.) 20 Aug 2017 23:49:22
I woulsnt want him if it means we will lose Martial.

5.) 21 Aug 2017 03:49:44
Could he play 10 behind Lukaku? Could push Miki back out wide again. Can't see Ibra sitting on the bench when fit.

6.) 21 Aug 2017 06:23:02
Look a better team with out him.

7.) 21 Aug 2017 07:50:50
I think resigning him is okay if its about squad rotation. i would not want to see rash or martial's place compromised in the line up as we lose a lot of our speed and things slow down when ibra is in the line up.

I think if we sign him it will be on our terms.

8.) 21 Aug 2017 08:50:14
Push Mikki back out wide? Is that the Mikki that has four assists in two games playing centrally, won German league player of the year playing number 10 in a non Bayern Munich team and is far less effective as a wide player?

9.) 21 Aug 2017 09:37:49
Can't argue with that Man from Manc. Miki has looked immense in his actual position. Funny that.

10.) 21 Aug 2017 12:06:27
I agree completely that Miki is best played centrally. I would not change the starting line up right now, other than maybe a wide right player for Mata. Or a fully fit and on form Shaw at left back.

I was just suggesting where Jose might play Ibra of he is back fit. I think he will start more games than not.

11.) 21 Aug 2017 12:18:32
I don't think Zlatan coming back will have any impact on Martial. Martial hasn't played up front under Jose. We're short on numbers on out and out strikers. This is a welcomed addition!

11 Aug 2017 22:48:19
Bruno Amorim, another Bebe type signing?

1.) 11 Aug 2017 23:28:56
Think its more for the under 23s than the first team.

2.) 12 Aug 2017 06:12:30
Sydney. Good to c u again posting regularly. Done with your sabbatical?

3.) 12 Aug 2017 11:36:14
Why not? Mendes hasn't flogged is a player for a while. Lol.

31 May 2015 19:30:11
Rumour has it we are close to signing Schneiderlin.

1.) 31 May 2015 19:41:06
Potentially great news.

2.) 31 May 2015 20:05:39
I'd happily pay 25million for him. Great replacement for Carrick.

3.) 31 May 2015 20:28:28
Yet to see it reach main stream media, I always feel a bit better when Sky report it - seems to make it seem a little more real.

4.) 31 May 2015 20:54:01
Lately the forign media have been more on the ball than the English media. Like with Depay the dutch had him at utd whilst english media still had him signing for liverpool.

5.) 31 May 2015 21:20:50
British journos haven't had a clue since the Fergie regime, all their sources have dried up. Instagram has more accurate hit ratio than them.

Marcel Desailly on Jose: "He looks like he's not really had the team he wanted, like when you compare with [Pep] Guardiola, who really chose every player he wanted in and out. Jose Mourinho, he's still dealing with some players that he didn't really want in his system. "

So so so true. Jose will be a much happier man at the end of the summer I'm sure.

1.) 09 Nov 2017 20:44:50
Of course he will be happier at the end of summer he will be in paris .

2.) 09 Nov 2017 21:06:04
I think he's just using PSG to get a payrise. Not saying he wouldn't go, but I think he's haggling over a new deal and wanting assurances.

3.) 09 Nov 2017 21:29:54
I've said before syd psg are flying why would they change there manager.

4.) 10 Nov 2017 07:15:18
Rumour this morning is they want Conte, Jose will have a meltdown if that happens.

5.) 10 Nov 2017 07:57:05
Jred, you say why would psg change but yet say he is going there. Make up your mind.

6.) 10 Nov 2017 08:43:03
It's was tongue in cheek angle.

06 Nov 2017 09:47:05
Carragher: "United were playing with 10 men with Mkhitaryan on the pitch. "

Very true, but how would people resolve this issue with the current players we have? Mata seriously lacks pace which is no good when Lukaku and Rash are playing counter attacking football.

1.) 06 Nov 2017 10:16:39
Syd, since Pogba has been out injured Mkhitaryan hasn’t scored a goal or provided an assist. He is very much a player who only shows up when the team is playing well, but disappears when the chips are down.

Yesterday we could have literally played anyone and they would have provided more to the team than Mkhitaryan provided. Lingard has fantastic work rate and has a habit of stepping up in the big occasions. We could have played Blind at LB, he was good against Benfica. Then pushed Young further up the pitch. We could have played McTominay and he would have been more involved than Mkhitaryan was yesterday. We could have played Martial alongside Lukaku and dropped Rashford into the No.10 role Mkhitaryan played yesterday. If Fellaini is fit enough for the bench he could have started.

For me though yesterday I thought we were tactically outdone, they went with Kante, Bakayoko and Fabregas in midfield, all very mobile. They swamped us, we were too static and outnumbered. Now although I feel Pogba has been a massive miss for us over the last month or so, I don’t believe he would have made a huge difference yesterday. Matic has been a fantastic signing for us, but he does lack mobility, same as Fellaini and Carrick. We need to have a midfielder or two who can add some mobility to our midfield, players who never stop moving, and not just running but smart movement, players who create space for their team and shut it off for the opponent.

Yesterday we had a game like everyone on here has been crying out for, an open end to end game. I’m glad to see everyone is happy with the performance and the result.

2.) 06 Nov 2017 10:16:59
Wilkins: "Lukaku lacks hold up play. "

Again very true, something Fellaini, Ibra and Pogba are great at. Holding up play for the runners.

3.) 06 Nov 2017 10:18:39
Play a different way. Most games we have 2 or 3 that don't turn up not just Miki, we aren't good enough to carry them against good teams. All of our attackers have 1 good game in 4 (or more), it's not good enough - most players are anonymous for 85mins of the game. These attacking players we have are very good, so clearly we need to unleash them and that means having more men attacking creating space and providing options on and off the ball. Everyone is so isolated.

Sacrifice some of the defensive cover, for offensive options. It's harder to score than to keep a team out, especially as most teams will operate ultra defensively against us if they fear that we will attack. Look how City can play 20 yards further forward all game with their DM being more creative than our best attacking player. We have had some true quality creative players and great attackers in recent years, but they are wasted more often than not on account of too few players attacking.

4.) 06 Nov 2017 10:20:18
Syd however good we play and however bad we played there will always something missing. We have a bunch of players missing and we’re far from being the finished article so people will always complain. That’s only human.
It’s early still and I can remember there were so much complaints last season and all seems to be cool when we win the silverwares.
Get use to it and hear what people say end of this season. I think we’re ok tbh but of course there’ll be plenty of negative comments to come still. But I agree with you on your post.

5.) 06 Nov 2017 10:24:20
Pogba fellaini and Mata should all be available for our next game .

6.) 06 Nov 2017 10:40:19
I agree with shaps lots of other options and Chelsea got there tactics right .

7.) 06 Nov 2017 13:38:26
Good post Shaps.

8.) 06 Nov 2017 16:52:21
Who's this 'bunch of player's that's missing? Apart from Pogba?

9.) 07 Nov 2017 13:38:40
I'm not Lukaku's biggest fan, but even I can see the lad's not getting anywhere near enough decent service.

05 Nov 2017 19:00:14
A few players have lost their mojo atm, hopefully Jose can get them playing well again. We need Pogba and Ibra back. Rojo looked good last season, he's even a decent LB. Obviously fullback positions need sorting, right forward and a decent hardworking box2box midfielder. We needed quite an overhaul, but couldn't do it all in two summers. I'm confident we'll complete build this summer and look a more balanced side, with a stronger bench.

1.) 05 Nov 2017 19:20:39
I thought Rojo started to look good at CB but was usually pretty shocking at LB and I'm really not sure Ibra is the answer to any question, he is clearly talented and an icon but he is slow and ponderous. When we had Lukaku, Martial and Rashford on the pitch we looked dangerous but there was no link from the midfield. With what we have now I think 4-3-3 might be the way forward with Martial and Rash dropping back when needed to strengthen the middle. Matic, Pogba and Fellaini/ Herrera is a strong combination and with that pace up front we will worry anybody. I'm not sure why we need a specific number 10 when Pogba is back.

2.) 05 Nov 2017 19:26:47
How many windows do you need to complete the project?

How many more 90 million duds do you need to buy?

3.) 05 Nov 2017 19:32:26
Jose arrived last year Malaga.

How many does Wenger need?

4.) 05 Nov 2017 19:55:50
Wow spanked by city malaga, really pal worry about your own house.

5.) 05 Nov 2017 20:12:42
We played a midfield of Miki Herrera and matic, 2 of them players bought by Jose and the answer to improve them is buy more .
Them 3 are all good players, people where raving about Miki when we bought him, Herrera was everyone's favourite player matic just a few week ago was the reason Chelsea was struggling and we where winning .

How many of our players played well today? Maybe the answer is to get the players we have and the players Jose has bought playing well .
City are playing out of there skin but players like sterling otamendi delph stones have got dogs abuse on here .

6.) 05 Nov 2017 20:25:49
Jred, you're wasting your breath mate, we need to spend million NHS and buy better players.

7.) 05 Nov 2017 20:29:59
I think we need Milinkovic-Savic, Fabinho, the wb Martin and peirrera back. Goodbye to shaw, the wig and Herrera or mata.

8.) 05 Nov 2017 20:35:45
Our players are certainly lacking confidence Jred, i've said that. It's clear Miki and Lukaku are having a dip in form. It's not permanent and doesn't mean they need replacing. But I think Jose is not a huge fan of Herrera and Fellaini looks on his way, so can see us buying a busy, hardworking box to box midfielder.

Pep has gotten the players playing well and their tails are certainly up at the moment for sure. Form and confidence plays a massive part and agree you don't just keep buying and selling when players lose form. But LB is a concern. RB is a concern. We needed another midfielder today so that is a concern. And I think right forward needs something.

What do you think we need? What would you do in the summer if you were manager?

9.) 05 Nov 2017 20:59:04
Tony is fine at rb imo lb is a concern.
Jose went into the season with Carrick fellaini pogba Herrera and matic it's not a bad set of options .

But why are we talking about next season at the start of November?
What if we buy a new number 10 only 2 year after buying Miki and that doesn't work out?
When do you say we need to get the best out of this squad never mind about next year .
At the start of the season would people of been happy with a front 3 of lukaku rash martial with Miki at 10 pogba matic cm lindelof bailly ddg.

If city where not playing well now people would be saying they need to replace delph stones otamendi sterling but that team as much as I hate to say it is playing the best footy in Europe.

As well as city are playing they like every other team will buy again in the summer and next season is another season . the important thing is they are getting the best out of there players in the here and now.

10.) 05 Nov 2017 21:17:55
Of course it's important we get the best out of the players we have now. That is what we pay Jose for. I couldn't agree more. But I'm simply saying what I think we need to do to complete the rebuild.

Fellaini and Carrick will likely be gone and I don't think Herrera is someone Jose trusts. So when we need a three man midfield, I don't think Jose is happy with Herrera, Matic and Pogba.

Valencia is getting old, he's a winger converted into a fullback. He's not a bad player at all. I like him, but we need to build for future and like I said he needs ice pack after every game.

This isn't a knee jerk reaction to our defeat, this is what I think we need to get us to the highest level. I said this before the season kicked off.

I genuinely believe we'll turn this around. I think we will look a different side over the winter schedule.

11.) 05 Nov 2017 21:44:53
You don't complete a rebuild, next summer we will need to replace some players the following summer we will need to replace some and on and on and on .
Jose has been very vocal in his support for fellaini you seem to be leaving him out of our 3 man cm this year .
Jose has a cm of matic pogba fellaini Herrera and Carrick this year next year is another season .

Are we getting the best out of our players now? What's to say we will next year?
As a team you could be playing well but just need that extra player or that touch of quality but is this team actually playing well at the moment?

12.) 05 Nov 2017 22:37:35
Fellaini could be gone January Jred, that's why I am taking about another midfielder.

I think I'm losing sight of your point. I completely agree with you about us not playing well. I've said it for weeks now.

13.) 05 Nov 2017 23:00:56
My point is I'm more concerned with our manager getting the best out of our players this season than looking at next season .
It all sound like excuses if we lose we need to buy x y z. Sometimes you just need to play better.

14.) 06 Nov 2017 08:14:26
Who's the £90m dud? Pogba is our best player, Malaga. Make no mistake about it he's instrumental to us and the no coincidence we've been poor since he's been injured.

AJH, rojo is decent at CB, by but woeful at LB. we need a top class specialist LB, asap. As for ibra I don't think we miss him one bit.

05 Nov 2017 18:50:18
I think we'll try hard for Ozil.

1.) 05 Nov 2017 19:21:02
I hope not, I watched Arsenal today and he was slow and lazy, I don't see what he would add.

2.) 05 Nov 2017 19:33:36
Jose likes him, lots of talk Ozil will have an offer from us to consider.

3.) 05 Nov 2017 20:11:55
I really hope not, I think he's an ass. He arrived with a great reputation and could have had the impact of Silva, or Sanchez, or Salah but he has been a passenger in an average Arsenal team. Really not what we neee.

4.) 05 Nov 2017 20:17:02
Jose liked Miki.

5.) 05 Nov 2017 20:26:56
Ozil has been here he many years? And what has he done, nothing.

6.) 05 Nov 2017 20:27:37
Think he would strengthen us, in games more than miki that’s for sure.

7.) 05 Nov 2017 20:37:34
I think we might move for ozil but he was just as bad as Miki today.

8.) 05 Nov 2017 20:42:10
So he bought him. What's your point?

9.) 05 Nov 2017 21:11:48
What your point syd? Ozil has been poor for arsenal so what if Jose likes him .
He liked Miki as well what's the difference.

If Miki is not the answer is ozil?

10.) 05 Nov 2017 21:24:51
No, I merely stated that I believe Jose will go for him. That's all.

11.) 05 Nov 2017 22:06:42
Fresh reports saying Ozil's reps are asking for a large signing on fee and salary. That was of course inevitable with him running his contract down.

12.) 05 Nov 2017 21:50:18
Ah right, I have a feeling he might as well tend to agree with ajh not sure he has done much in the epl.

13.) 05 Nov 2017 22:40:57
I don't think he's pulled up trees either. But I don't think he's been happy at Arsenal for sometime now. I guess it's Jose's call, if he wants him then we'll make him an offer.

14.) 06 Nov 2017 06:12:33
if Milner got 12 mill to sign on for Liverpool I am sure Ozil will have his share of suiters and get a hefty sign on fee. I am undecided on him and not sure where we would play him. If we did buy him that's the end of herrera for me as i can't see how he gets any game time if we have no injuries. Mata too and can see both being sold in the summer.

I don't believe we will buy him btw.

04 Nov 2017 09:31:34
Does anyone else think we will go three at the back again? I think there's a high percentage as long as Jones, Smalling and Bailly are all fit. But will we use Rash and Lukaku this time instead of Martial and Lukaku?

1.) 04 Nov 2017 09:36:37
I think so Syd, seems to favour it in big games, worked last time out so why not.

2.) 04 Nov 2017 10:06:41
Don't you normally play 11 at the back in every game, small team mentality.

3.) 04 Nov 2017 10:14:05
Smalling gets me nervous due to his lack of quality on the ball, but in a three he is usually the stand out defender. Surprising when Jones and Bailly individually are better players. So I think as long as they're all fit we will see that again and Young/ Valencia as wingbacks. Or more like fullbacks in reality. 532. Lukaku, Mikhitaryan and Rash to counter. It's hard to know what Jose is thinking, but I would go this way I think. Herrera next to Matic. Mata will play a part from the bench maybe.

I think Conte may well set up the same. Using Hazard, Morata and Pedro as counter attacking players. We'll see.

4.) 04 Nov 2017 10:43:46
Mighty reds how was the 4-1 and 5-0 thrashing by spurs and city?

5.) 04 Nov 2017 10:45:24
rash and lukaku started against Tottenham syd not martial.

6.) 04 Nov 2017 10:54:09
Oh yes it was Martial and Lukaku who started against Liverpool, not Spurs.

7.) 04 Nov 2017 11:12:40
hey up the troll is back they must have won.

8.) 04 Nov 2017 11:24:04
Mata on for miki if it were my choice and rash with rom.

9.) 04 Nov 2017 11:41:33
Maybe Smalling plays well in a back three for the same reason he had a purple patch under LvG, the extra body in there covers for his weaknesses? In the same way as having two defensive midfielders and sitting deep did when LvG was here.

I'm not sure which way we will go. We might see Mkhitaryan dropped with either Lingard or McTominay coming into the team. My reasoning is I expect Mourinho to have Hazard man marked again like he did last season when he played Herrera in that role. With so many midfielders out he might play Matic with McTominay or maybe even Tuanzebe in midfield with Herrera marking Hazard again, or he might stick with Matic and Herrera in midfield and have Lingard mark Hazard.

Either way I expect him to drop Mata and Mkhitaryan for this game, maybe bringing them on later to change things if needed. This would give us a front two of Lukaku with Rashford I expect with Martial able to impact from the bench.

10.) 04 Nov 2017 11:58:59
Mighty reds, must be great playing all of that fantastic football, getting thrashed and winning nothing. Give your head a shake mate.

11.) 04 Nov 2017 12:01:44
Agree with Shappy regarding Smalling. Not hard to look a world beater if you lose attacking players to cover for defenders. No coincidence that almost every game our stand out players are defenders, GK or DM's. Even Valencia looks a quality RB despite having no idea how to defend properly imo.

I think Young will play, he seems to trust Young all of a sudden. Wouldn't even be surprised to see Blind as LB and Young on the right to help Valencia with Hazard. Rashford will play ahead of Martial as well as he trusts him more defensively.

I fancy Lukaku to have a blinder though, (heart over head) .

12.) 04 Nov 2017 12:18:38
Good point Shappy and agree with most of that Beast.

13.) 04 Nov 2017 19:59:33
Mighty as Roy Keane said, I wouldn't watch Liverpool if they were playing in my back garden.

14.) 04 Nov 2017 23:18:52
Miki has to start. I mean he HAS to. My dream team's struggling this week.

A great webpage for us all to talk and offer opinions and it's free.
Great credit going to all the eds on these pages.

Where are the details, Bond?

{Ed007's Note - There's a link to it at the top of every clubs's page (just below the search box) mate but here is the URL:

Thanks lads (and ladies if there's any) and btw you're under no pressure or hassle to donate, we know everyone has their own circumstances and their own problems at this time of year.
I just thought maybe we could help put a smile on a few kids' faces at Christmas and so if you can give then please do but if you can't don't worry about it and hopefully your own fortunes and situation takes an upturn in the New Year.}

Deano - We are seriously low on combative midfielders. Jose was never going to let him go with no time to bring in alternatives. Saying Jose loves him is a bit OTT, he is needed. It's that simple. I'd be very surprised if Jose was managing PSG or anyone for that matter and he gave Fellaini a call. We need Fellaini right now, it that simple.

CSM - From what reports say this kid is as well thought of as Pogba was. Let's hope he can develop well into a good player. But I do hope we haven't gone and bought him because we'll be losing Gomes.

I think MU will activate all their one-year clauses personally. But only so they don't lose them on free transfers. We'll see.

It's been made clear to Jose that if he wants new players then he must sell the players he doesn't want. Problem for Jose is he can tell Ed Woodward who can go, but players can refuse moves and a lot of the time MU players are on silly salaries and buying clubs will not offer an acceptable amount for the player to leave. So Jose may well want Perisic and Milinkovic-Savic for example, but if no one buys Mata and Herrera, then he will need to use what we have.

We are not City or PSG, we cannot buy everyone and loan everyone out.

Far too early to judge Lindelof, although admittedly he hasn't gotten off to a great start. The thing is with Lindelof is he cannot do any worse than he has done so far, so we will inevitably see a vast improvement even if he isn't up to our standard. Jose did say he expects a long Bailly and Lindelof partnership so he must see something in him. He is very much a signing for next season like Jose also said. I think he needs games though and we should be using him when we can, however if you were Blind, Smalling whoever and Lindelof was playing ahead of you, you'd be pretty p! ssed off.

Forget the goals. What games have we played well in? West Ham we played well. Spurs we played decent. We had a 15 minutes spell in Swansea match. We have scored goals, but we haven't been playing well. City have been playing very good football all season thus far and goals have been scored.

We have done okay up until now, but we have to improve otherwise Spurs, Chelsea and potentially Liverpool if they put a few wins together will overtake us. I'm not concerned at this time, not at all as I think we will be okay, but we haven't played well all season. We've have moments and we've ground out boring wins.

Jose will only ever care about his own success and reputation. It's always about personal achievements with him. But we always knew this about him. This isn't new news. I think he's in a great position. He'll flirt with the PSG job and either get it or get a massive new MU contract. Win win for him.

I think he's just using PSG to get a payrise. Not saying he wouldn't go, but I think he's haggling over a new deal and wanting assurances.

Both Jose and Pep have had it easy when managing clubs. Both had pretty easy rides to be fair. At popular clubs who have had money to spend or at clubs who have been able to attract the better players in that respective league.
