Garnacho must surely be putting himself front and centre for a starting spot in this team.

He is obviously talented, but he seems to have that something that most players don't develop until they are older of ever. It's that ability to make a difference when it matters. To pull something out of the hat, be that a goal, an assist or a moment of magic that opens up the game for someone else.

In his last four games he has scored the winner against both Sociedad and Fulham and got two assists for the 3rd and 4th goals against Villa in the cup to help us win the game and progress to the next round.

He might have got his chance due to both Sancho and Antony being injured but he has taken that chance with both hands. Which is what you have to do as a youngster coming through. Nothing will be handed to you on a plate, you need to put in the performances when you get a chance. Like Rashford and McTominay who repaid their chance with performances and kept performing to stay in the first team picture.

Garnacho should get chances after the world cup with players like Ronaldo, Rashford, and Antony all playing at the world cup.

While given Martial's injury record this season I wouldn't be surprised if he picks up an injury while training.

Which means he's likely to be involved at least from the bench if not starting the Boxing day game against Nottingham Forest.

He has an excellent chance over the next few months to stake a claim and get in the team on a regular basis. It's down to him to seize those chances, make himself undroppable and keep himself grounded and working hard.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shappy the future is without Ronaldo.
I hope we don't see Ronaldo after January so that the team could move on.

Nice at last to have an academy player who isn’t just getting the odd minute here and there for experience, but because he improves the team.

{Ed014's Note - I guess he’ll be off to Barca or Madrid as his contracts up next year so he can go for free.

13 Nov 2022 20:52:20
Ed14, I’m guessing that, while United work on offering him a new contract, they’ll take the option to extend his contract by 2 years.

{Ed014's Note - bless him, that’s just plain bad luck

13 Nov 2022 20:59:41
He wouldn’t even get in as a ball boy there!

13 Nov 2022 21:33:19
We have hostage clause for another 2 years ed. He won't be going anywhere that soon.

{Ed014's Note - wow, you gotta feel for the lad

13 Nov 2022 21:39:55
Ed014, apparently there is a 2 year option on his deal so it's unlikely he'll leave on a free.

As a club we do give youngsters a chance, but if they are to succeed they need to take that chance.

Maybe at a bottom half club you can come in and do so-so and keep getting selected.

But at a club toward the top end of the EPL there are international footballers on the bench every week.

When you get a chance at that level you need to grab it and step up. Make yourself undroppable if you are to keep your place.

{Ed014's Note - was just saying, that’s unfortunate for him. I feel for him mate.

13 Nov 2022 22:30:43
Maybe Martinelli will go to one of them and Garnacho to the other in a couple of years. Round about the same time Saliba goes to PSG.

13 Nov 2022 23:36:12
Yea must be horrible for Garnacho, the kid looks like he’s living his absolute dream.

14 Nov 2022 00:03:36
They will all end up at Real Madrid ed014 come to think of it as Barcelona might not be around in a couple years. Either that or they will be in Liga C.

{Ed014's Note - it’s possible he stays mate and I think, although he’s his idol, getting rid of Ronaldo will help on so many fronts.

At the moment from the outside it seems there really is little improvement, there was only one team playing football with a discernible style yesterday and that was Fulham.

I was expecting a lot more from ETH and I’m sure he’ll get it right.

I’m amazed though that he brought Ronaldo back into the group and gobsmacked he made him captain, that’s a big weakness for me as he was supposed to be a man who didn’t take any crap.

14 Nov 2022 11:24:12
From the inside there really is a huge improvement, to say there is none because we played our 4th game in 10 days away at a side currently in the top half of the table with a left back at right back, our first choice centre back missing and our best winger out and didn’t look great is a little misleading, especially as we won the game, something we have struggled to do in previous seasons.

14 Nov 2022 10:28:40
Maybe no discernible style ed014 but there is much better link up play and shape apart from when we need to make changes. If we take our chances more then that would have been 2-0/ 3-0 at half time, game over, but it's been a common theme this season that we are'nt clinical enough.

ETH is clearly not happy with his number 9 options in Martial, Ronaldo and Rashford but has to make the best of what's at his disposal. Probaly not happy with the RH side either hence the money spent on Antony, we probably still need another to cover (maybe Sancho should be that player) and a RB at least as well as stronger CM options.

I myself see the improvements as I catually want to watch our games now which I can't say I did last season or even the one before that.

Without being a bit toothless, drawing at least a couple of games we should have won and the poor results at the start then we should maybe be 6-8 points better off at least.

ETH has only been with us from the start of the season with one window. His handling of Ronaldo may be intentional, we had Maguire as captain even when he wasn't playing. I don't think the captaincy is that big a deal.

We need leaders in the team regardless of who's captain and Martinez and Casemiro are those types who have definately made a difference in that short time.

{Ed014's Note - are you seriously just ignoring the saves DDG made mate.

You could also say if Mitrovic had been playing you could have been in more trouble.

I really can’t get my head around this improvement. I watch you and you struggle all over the park, the pressing is almost non existent or just played around.

It’s all about breakaways or long balls. Literally nothing like what I’d imagine he’d bring to the table.

I’m yet to be convinced by Casemiro or Antony mate.

Yesterday one team were up for it and one team playing football and what did you honestly like about that performance other than the winning goal?

14 Nov 2022 12:01:09
Dare say Ed14 lots of political chess playing behind the scenes re: playing him/ captaincy etc.

Has to go now though.

(And congrats Gooners - sounds like long term plan working. Hopefully ours will too! )

{Ed014's Note - absolutely has to mate, there’s no coming back from that nor should there be.

I like to think it will for you mate and ETH is your best shot at it.

The league does'nt lie ed and your on about 1 player missing and 1 match last night when some of our players have 1 eye on the world cup.

Yes we were lucky but so will many other teams be in matches this season. If it were'nt for Palinha's outrageous number of tackles (a couple of which were very questionable lunging with no replay) then we would have gone through their midfield more often and quicker and given the 1st half that I watched, we should have been ahead by more, then the second half would'nt have happened as it did, again chances not taken.

Maybe Ronaldo and Antony would have faired better? We don't know. Quite rightly your not convinced by Casemiro or Antony as they've only been with us 5 minutes, most players need a season to integrate well.

{Ed014's Note - the league doesn’t lie mate, 11 off the top 13 off a relegation spot.

You seem to have an excuse for everything.

You obvs can also have an opinion after 5 minutes on those two though ?‍♂️

14 Nov 2022 13:39:11
Strange analysis ed014, your clearly a glass half full person, well done Arsenal for being 24 points away from relgation. What excuses? I've said we were lucky. Most other ed's you can have a discussion about stuff including what you yourself have brought up but you are hard work. Still, you can go on the Liverpool page cosy up as they have by far the most traffic, tell them how great they are and get a pat on the back for coming here and trying to get a reaction all the time.

{Ed014's Note - don’t mate I’m welling up here. Sorry my opinions different to yours but then I’m not wearing those big red specs.

Sorry I don’t suck up to your opinion too and this discussion isn’t going how you like.

If you want to brown nose the other Ed’s fill your tiny boots.

#WATCAATDOAT! ?‍♂️

14 Nov 2022 14:04:58
Oooh you have a heart of stone ed. And #WATCAATDOAT! means absolutely nothing to me, your wasting your effort, I'm not on social media.

{Ed014's Note - I truly do and will always say it how I see it, including how shite Liverpools midfield currently is, but that’s what you get when you don’t buy when you’re on top!

I also wouldn’t say anything on there I wouldn’t say on here but nice to know you pop over, I’ll keep that in mind! ?

I’m not on social media either. Can’t think of anything worse than Twatter or instacrap!
