Would be a mistake in my book to bring in ibra when there is a ready made world class player wanting out of everton who has at least 7/ 8 years at top.
Its this short term thinking which worrys fans when mourinhos name is brought up all be it this may have nothing to do with him.

If martials long term future is centre forward he needs an experienced player to learn from who won't block his progress so he stagnates like jones etc. Would zlatan be my first choice, probably not. Does he fit the criteria. Pretty much.

DSG - You assume that Lukaku would be interested in a move to United.
I'd love to sign Kane or Lukaku, don't get me wrong - but there are definite advantages to signing Ibra.
For starters he is one of the best strikers in the world already rather than being a very good striker with the potential to get better. His age - whilst some may see as a downside - works in our favour somewhat considering we have two decent young strikers in the squad already (one of whom will definitely go on to be world class with the right management and one who could certainly be very there or there abouts) .
Signing a Kane/ Lukaku means that we have, as you say, our first choice striker for 8 or 9 years. Signing an Ibra gives our youngsters a very good player to learn from and the opportunity to make his spot their own in one or two years time.

Why not sign both Ibra and Lukaku and dump Rooney?
Martial is playing LW at the moment and performing really well.
And our past United teams always had 4 strikers in the squad.
Lukaku, Ibra, Martial and Rashford, maybe even Will Keane.
That's an awesome frontline.

Redseven - yes i am assuming lukaku would have to be interested and his father and agent have both come out and mentioned us directly with obtaining his services. Ibra is the same, we are all assuming he wants to come as well.
In all likelihood both player will go to the highest bidder which is the reality these days.
Also lukaku isn't just potential. He has played 4 seasons in the premier league now and has gotten double figures in all of them. He is also in a select group to reach 50 goals before turning 23. He is very much the real deal.
I agree bringing lukaku in would give less time to martial up front but he's looked great on the left wing at times and don't forget that's where he's played for france and monaco. So that doesn't worry me in the slightest.
Overall i think ibra would be a good signing but if an oppurtunity arises to bring lukaku in it can't be turned down as well be kicking ourselves for years to come.

Just about every agent mentions us these days. Remember when Ramos, Kroos and Fabregas wanted to sign for us only to use our interest to get a better contract or a move elsewhere.
I agree entirely that Lukaku would be a great signing - but both he and Ibra have their pros and cons to the point where I don't see it being as clear cut as you're making it out to be.
Ultimately I would be delighted with either.
As for us playing with 4 us keeping 4 top strikers in the past; when was the last time that we played with 2 up top? If we're going to stick to 1 forward it makes no sense for us to have 4 as there's no way you could guarantee them all game time (3, imo, would be a struggle) .
