Just seen a bit of motd2 and feel a little sorry for arsenal fans. Diego Costa manages to get mertesaker sent off without even a touch and if the was the slightest amount of vacuum cleaner fluff attached to his boot that managed to trip up Costa at the foot area, then Costa goes down clutching his knee which I presume is a stress injury due to Dyson vacuum fluff being potentially more dangerous than good old Henry hoover fuzz.

Absolutely spot on Supasub :-)

Stone wall red. Per was silly.

Must be the same fluff that took austin's legs away from him for the free kick that austin was on the end of. It seems so becoming a problem for some players staying on their feet.

Yet the headline is januzaj makes a needless foul and let's down the whole team. Hacks austin down in an area of the pitch which requires the boy going out on loan again to a team like xandaou źxchakalabak.

Ctr seriously? He wasn't even touched. Have a closer look.

25 Jan 2016 06:53:01
Supa he does get touched I think.

{Ed001's Note - do you think so? Even if he did, which I am not convinced by, he still took a step before throwing himself to the ground dramatically to make sure Mertesacker got a red.}

Unfortunately that's where the game is at now. Mertesacker was silly for going down like that, especially knowing what Costa and more players are like now, if they get one sniff of drawing a foul they'll take it.

25 Jan 2016 08:48:31
No contact, therefore no penalty for me.

On a side note, I think it speaks volumes about the integrity of the game when every current player, or ex-player now pundit, I have heard speak about it on Sly, MOTD and BBC Radio 5 unanimously agree that it was a sending off. Even after watching the replays.
Gives us a clue as to the mindset of how players think. Weggy's comment is bang on - "Unfortunately that's where the game is now".

im not sure he touched him but its a stupid tackle.

25 Jan 2016 10:38:37
Did not touch him but there, was an ex ref (can't remember which one) that said the intent from merterseker is enough.

25 Jan 2016 11:29:09
That word 'Intent' again. Shame Campbell wasn't given a goal when he misskicked in the first few minutes. Plenty of intent on that one.
Costa is a cheat, plain and simple.

25 Jan 2016 15:52:32
Yeh ed, I could see a touch and tbh Costa does very well cutting across per and forcing him to make a decision, touch me and I'll go down.

He wasn't even looking at per and felt a tiny bit of contact and went over. Clear red imo.

{Ed001's Note - I am not arguing that it was a red, as he doesn't need to have made contact for that, but I disagree that there was any touch, he just threw himself over in pretend agony because he is a cheat.}

25 Jan 2016 16:36:23
OK mate, from the angle I saw it looked like contact.

Its always a tough one as like u say he has cheated because I'm in no doubt he could of carried on.

Regardless it was a silly challenge by PM. He had no need to go to ground and knew he was risking getting sent off when he glanced over to check where LK was before lunging in. The risk v reward wasn't in his favour and he should've just let Costa have a run at goal and not ruined my fantasy football score for the week by causing Giroud to be sacrificed.
