Rumours online Bruno is out of tonight's game injured.

06 May 2024 18:32:40
Mount can play the Bruno role tonight, might have do it again next season if we sell him.

 0

06 May 2024 18:39:34
That would make sense, I've just added him to my FPL team.

 3

06 May 2024 19:05:51
Yep not playing tonight, mount in for him.

 0

06 May 2024 19:11:55
Mount's chance to show he can be part of this team.
Possibly the weakest Utd bench I've seen in 40 years, hope the back four stay healthy!

 2

06 May 2024 20:14:39
Weakest team for 40 years.

 2

06 May 2024 20:49:22
2 keepers named, don't think I cam ever recall that. Can't wait for this season, and our injuries to be done with. Hopefully get some players back in time for the final.

 2

06 May 2024 21:11:32
Shappy ain’t that always the way!

 1

06 May 2024 22:55:54
Philip,

We’ve named 2 keepers on the bench in a large numbers of games this season.

 2

06 May 2024 23:01:06
Wazza, it seemed like a no brainer. Salah had been sitting there in my team doing F all since February.

Whereas, Bruno had scored 52 points in his previous 5 games and due to the fixtures had an extra game. He is also pretty much bulletproof and has only missed 2 games in over four years for us due to injury.

Ditching Salah for Bruno seemed like an easy option.

Then Bruno misses only his 3 game ever due to injury, while Salah pulls his thumb out his backside and grabs a goal and two assists. Go figure 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦‍♂️.

 1

07 May 2024 07:12:33
Shappy I also took Salah out this week. Fortunately for Saka because my mini league rivals have him, so it wasn’t too bad. I gambled on Bruno early, and took him out just before he started scoring 🤦‍♂️

It’s another close one between myself and WRD who is always up there at the end of the season.

07 May 2024 13:20:34
Thanks GtS, hadn't noticed it before. As I said can't wait for season to be over and hope we don't ever have one as injury plagued as this one again.

06 May 2024 14:24:38
Ed, Do you think we could see De Gea make a return to the club with Bayindir wanting out and Heaton leaving it seems at the end of the season.

 0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

 0

06 May 2024 15:33:43
Thanks for the reply ED.

 2

06 May 2024 18:43:56
More chance of Les Sealey.

 2

06 May 2024 19:34:20
For clarity, no idea Les was no longer with us. Just remembered a GK from the time I first began watching Utd.

 0

06 May 2024 21:11:58
As a centre back?

 1

05 May 2024 18:09:44
Maguire injured in training and out for 3 weeks apparently. Another training injury.

 6

05 May 2024 18:20:58
I think he's been playing injured for quite some time.

 3

05 May 2024 18:21:55
Just posted that. Surely someone has to be looking at our training methods, the amount of muscle injuries is a total joke.

 6

05 May 2024 20:06:39
Does anyone remember that up until a recent point, the length and type of injury was never disclosed?

And now the media machine is in overdrive, things have become a lot more detailed 🤔.

 0

06 May 2024 07:13:09
Might mean that Louis Jackson gets his chance.

06 May 2024 11:40:33
Other clubs have suffered similar injury issues when they have had a manager trying to introduce a high energy pressing style.

The thought is that you need to increase the players fitness and stamina and the only way to do that is to train at a high level over a long period of time to raise base level fitness.

Teams that have done this have tended to suffer a season of excessive injuries, before the players were conditioned to have the stamina and base fitness required to play a high pressing style.

Given EtH's comments at the start of the season of wanting to turn us into the best transitional team in the world, along with occasional comments about the intensity of training, and our injuries this season it does sound like we are training to raise base fitness and stamina of the squad, which will be contributing to the injuries.

If we are to commit to a high energy, transitional style then these injuries are just part of the growing pains that we will have to endure to get there.

Hopefully next season then players will be better conditioned because of this season and less prone to injuries, while those not suited to that style should hopefully be moved on and replaced with players suited to that style.

Of course that depends on whether the manager will be here next season and that style is the style the new owners/ club structure wants us to play moving forward.

From the outside looking in it looks like EtH tried to introduce this style at the start of last season, but quickly realised he didn't have the players to play it, so he went more pragmatic. Over the summer he looked to make changes to the squad and decided to commit to this style of play. According to the man himself part of his remit when he was hired was to impart this style of play on the squad. Last season they accepted the limitations and a more pragmatic approach, but with the intention of planning for and moving towards this direction this season.

EtH seems to have just followed through with the plan agreed between him and the club. He's taking the short term pain on the chin this season with a view on the long term gains.

It would be a shame if he doesn't get the chance to see through these plans, but if the new club structure doesn't align with this direction then it's best to end things sooner rather than later.

Personally as a fan I prefer a higher energy more transitional style over a slower possession based approach. I feel it's more entertaining to watch and is more closely aligned to the style of play I associate with Manchester United.

Yet that is just my opinion, and ultimately it is the opinion of the new owners and the new people being put in key positions at the club that will ultimately decide the direction of the club. My job as a supporter isn't to fight against it if they don't do what I want, but to support the club in this new direction. Whatever that may be.

Ed are we interested in Lunin the gk from real madrid?

 0

{Ed002's Note - Andriy Lunin (G) Real Madrid has no interest in sellining Lunin but to date he has not signed a new contract and with Kepa Arrizabalaga departing in the Summer it is becoming urgent. With Thibaut Courtois over his injury concerns he will again be first choice GK. Scouts from PSG, Chelsea and Manchester United attending Real Madrid games for other players have been impressed with him but it is very likely a new contract will be signed.}

05 May 2024 18:52:47
Thankssss Ed.

04 May 2024 13:13:40
On the topic of next opponents Crystal Palace, a lot has been mentioned of a potential move for Olise. I love Eze too a think they’ll struggle to retain either. There’s another even younger player Adam Wharton I’d ashamedly not seen previously who seems to be getting some praise. With Utd’s midfield looking somewhat ragged and in need of some inspiration, is this another youngster who could be on the radar?

 0

{Ed002's Note - Scouts were sent last season - before he moved to Crystal Palace.}

 4

04 May 2024 13:51:18
Cheers Ed. Seems like a good crop emerging English talent this season.

 1

05 May 2024 08:45:47
We were still run by the amateurs then so probably missed the opportunity to sign him.

 1

06 May 2024 11:44:18
He looks a cracking player, I don't think Palace will entertain selling him this summer as he only joined in January. Saying that though if a massive offer came in they might be tempted to cash in.

However, if he continues to play as well next season as he has since his January move then the following summer I could see a few sides eyeing up a big move for him.

03 May 2024 11:17:37
Morning Ed,
Do you think EtH will be manager of the club come the start of next season?

 0

{Ed002's Note - I don't think he should be and there are good options available.

Erik ten Hag (C) Possible return to Ajax - else perhaps a year off. Would be way down the list for Bayern Munich but after losing Thomas Tuchel and being rejected by Alonso, Nagelsmann and failing with their Plan B one year solution with Rangnick before making their preferred appointment, they are running out of options. A wildcard at best for Bayern Munich.}

 5

03 May 2024 12:25:16
Ed may ask want bayern plan to do now.

 0

{Ed002's Note - I suspect they will wait until the end of the season and see who else is available.}

 2

03 May 2024 13:32:28
Who would you think Ed would be best suited to replace ten hag if he were to leave

I remember years ago you
Said the plan was to replace a manager with allegri?

Would they look at that route again

I’m just hoping if they do sack ten hag they don’t go for Southgate. Think that would be worse than the moyes appointment imo.

 0

{Ed002's Note - Thomas Tuchel is a good fit and Jim Ratcliffe knows him well.}

 9

03 May 2024 15:00:57
Ed, if you don't mind me asking what do you think makes Tuchel a better fit?

 0

{Ed002's Note - He has won the Champions League, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, cups in France and Germany, club World Cup, knows Jim Ratcliffe very well, is a polyglot, really nice guy and is very experienced.}

 11

03 May 2024 16:12:04
Thank you Ed.
I’m not sure who my preference would be if EtH were to leave.

You’ve spoken before about the club lacking a structure, don’t think come the Summer, the club will be in a better place regarding this?

 0

{Ed002's Note - It will be better now.}

 5

03 May 2024 18:54:32
Thank you Ed. Such great insight.

 1

03 May 2024 20:23:47
could bayern be tempted to tempt tuchel to stay ed? Or are the bridges burnt?
Thanks, enjoy your Bank Holiday weekend.

 0

{Ed002's Note - Probably not - they have other ideas.}

 3

04 May 2024 07:07:25
I think he will still be there. He gave an interview with Gary Neville yesterday. He was speaking like a man that will be there for next season. He came across very well.

 2

04 May 2024 07:42:54
Anyone one else have to google polyglot?

 8

04 May 2024 07:52:11
Spenno,

Me too. ED002 is giving us an EDucation lol.

 0

04 May 2024 08:27:02
First “rodeo clown”, and now this 🤯.

 0

04 May 2024 11:14:40
Sorry ed, but some time ago your belief was that he won't be there come July 1st. Has something changed?

 0

{Ed002's Note - I don't understand?}

 0

04 May 2024 11:28:45
Your wording, when asked some time ago was you believed that he would be moved on.

When asked again above, your reply was 'i don't think he should be'. Which is different to previous.

I was wondering if something has changed, or is it still your belief that the club will move him on.

 0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed.}

 1

04 May 2024 11:55:40
Thanks ed.

 0

04 May 2024 12:33:41
You misread Angel. Ed is saying he doesn't think he should be here next year.

 3

04 May 2024 14:55:32
AJH, I read into it as if it was Eds opinion that he shouldn't be there.

I think he will be. I just don't see the point of the sit down with GN on Sky etc. If he was to go, surely the club wouldn't have sanctioned that. It makes no sense.

He spoke like a man that has had chats in private about next season. Fingers crossed he gets the chance.

 2

04 May 2024 20:16:20
I had a flutter on Tuchel as next manager a long time back. I’m kind of hoping for selfish reasons it’s true!

 1

05 May 2024 08:02:34
When it comes to managers, I think to myself can I see this guy at united 5 years later post appointment. Most great sports franchises have continuity and Tuchel is not a guy I see as a long term United manager. For whatever reasons he never sticks anywhere and it can't be always the clubs fault.

If we are changing, I hope its someone else and no idea who is the right person. Tuchel will not play the younger players and route for academy players to come in gets much harder imo and more about buying ready made players.

He is also not the most expansive, offensive minded coach and never rate his style of play as beautiful football. A bit like the German version of Conte with similar personality traits.

 3

05 May 2024 08:55:16
Ahmed, fewer managers staying long term now, as top clubs have sporting directors in charge of a style of play and the manager essentially a transient head coach., which I guess keeps everything fresh.

Any new coach coming into United probably not be long term so, if it is Tuchell, maybe he’d stay a couple of years then bring in someone like McKenna after that.

02 May 2024 19:41:51
If any of the Ed’s are around, just looking at the info given by ed002 and news coming out from various different places, it looks like we’re wanting at least 2 cbs, a full back, a midfielder (maybe 2) and a forward. The first choices seem to be Silva £60+ and Todibo £35m+ at the back, Ait Nouri £30m+ at left back, Neves £70m+ in midfield with maybe either Fofana £25m+ or Hjulmand £45m+ and then Olise £55m+ as the forward. Is there any way that this type of summer would be at all financially viable?

 0

{Ed002's Note - putting aside the money these are all targets as I have explained.}

 5

02 May 2024 20:48:30
I think it would be a fantastic summer but I really struggle to see us spending £250-300m especially without champions league football. Hopefully we can make some good money with sales. Would selling the likes of Greenwood, Williams, Hannibal and other academy players make more of a difference than selling the likes of a Lindelof?

 2

02 May 2024 21:01:47
Sell as many as we can hopefully.

 3

02 May 2024 21:58:17
Fingers crossed there’s actually a pretty high volume of sales this summer Eric, even if we have to take a hit on the fees for some of the players such as Donny and Sancho. Get them out and get their wages off the books. Just with Sancho, Casemiro, Martial and Donny leaving permanently we’ll be looking at almost a million pound a week freed up. That’s got to make a big difference.

 1

02 May 2024 23:44:35
Those figures seem a bit light. Nice were wanting €50-60m for Todibo in Jan. Benfica want €100m for Silva, Neves has a €120m buyout clause too. Ait-Nouri is 40-50m.

 3

03 May 2024 08:26:37
They are light, I purposely went to the lower end of the price range and added a plus to show how expensive it would really be. Although muppetiers has Todibo at around £35m, those prices are the release clauses of Silva and Neves so with it being the summer window they might be available a little lower. Ait Nouri I reckon around £35m would be a good price, wolves are in a bit of a financial pickle aren’t they?

 1

03 May 2024 09:35:58
Eric’s right: sell as many as possible and let high earning wages go also.

(Please excuse crass maths now)

Martial, Casameiro, Varane, Evans Sancho: combined weekly salaries of 1 million per week? So 50 million per season? Amortised, get one or two top players with that.

Fees for: Greenwood, Sancho, Maguire, Eriksen, Pellistri, Hannibal, Alvaro etc: maybe bring in another 100 million? Again, 2 or 3 amortised top signings there.

Plus United allegedly have 100m to spend on top of that also.

So long as top players want to join the long term journey, then we could feasibly bring in 4 or 5 top players this Summer.

 0

03 May 2024 10:31:53
I think with planned outgoings and changes to PSR and transfer caps, Utd could spend a lot this summer.

Realistically we need £500-600M investment in the playing side alone. This could be over 2 or 3 seasons but if it was me I’d mortgage against the future and buy now.

 0

03 May 2024 11:16:46
I think we need to consider also that clubs will still look at us as easy targets in the transfer window due to past performances and transfer fees. I do feel INEOS and SJR will change this over time and we will operate a lot better moving forward however the Summer window will, I imagine also involve us setting the tone of how we will operate so, I guess some targets we will walk away from and then it will be a case of do we buy others for the sake of buying? I'm quite excited for this window to see how we do but I'm not expecting as many wholesale changes as maybe some others. I do hope I am wrong though.

 1

03 May 2024 16:16:11
Bradders pretty sure ed002 has said Benfica will look to get the full €100m for Silva. If they do so then they have no need to sell Neves at all, so would hold out for his full release clause. Plenty interest in both will also drive their price up to close to their release clause given Chelsea are said to be interested and Boehly and co haven’t been shy of spending an arm and a leg on a player.

 1

01 May 2024 13:36:39
Ed002.
Good afternoon.
You have said that a keeper was on our list with Onana not quite working out.
Given the expenditure on Onana last summer do you see anyway that he might leave this summer?
Do you know if there is interest him from elsewhere?
I agree with the view that it's not worked out but I do fear being 'stuck with him for a bit due to the finances.
Have you any comfort to share?
Thanks.

 1

{Ed002's Note - Andre Onana (G) Not worked out particularly well and could be offered to Michael Emanalo as Manchester United look to upgrade - but my feeling is that he will stay with competition from a new GK as Bayindir wants out and Heaton will be out of contract.}

 2

01 May 2024 16:03:37
Thanks. I think the same. Hopefully we can get someone in to provide meaningful competition.
Heaton may get 1 more year I'm thinking with someone coming in to compete with Onana and not just play 2nd fiddle.
Cheers.

 0

01 May 2024 17:28:07
I don't see him going. He's made some bad errors but I don't think he's anywhere near the top of the list of this year's incompetencies and ill fortune. His mistakes are just more glaringly obvious.

 4

01 May 2024 18:43:31
Shaw there is an argument that he didn't have a solid line in front of him.
I still think the amount of basic positional or fundamental goalkeeping errors are too many.
Umo he cost us more goals through bad errors than he has saved us through saves he was not favourite to make.
But I think we are stick with him for at least next season unless a mad offer came in from Saudi.

 1

01 May 2024 21:36:30
It may be a small point, but at the recent games I went to Heaton and Bayandir came out to warm up and did the usual goalkeeping warm ups. However Onana spent time controlling balls hit back to him and then he was hitting passes out to coaches on the halfway line. Strange that we don’t have a consistent method through all the keepers and Onana had such a warm up session, then gives goals away by doing this.

 4

02 May 2024 08:40:24
Hard for any keeper to provide competition if they are not getting games to prove their worth. Any keeper coming in is just going to warm the bench for ETH mate. Cannot see anyone decent wanting to do that.

 0

02 May 2024 09:20:42
With all the transition I can't see goalkeeper being high up the list of priorities this season meaning Onana will stay (unless they get a strong bid for him) with the club looking at back ups.

I have not been convinced and he has definitely gone through both good and bad patches. Unfortunately his mechanics are not what you would expect from a top goalkeeper, however you do not achieve what he has without being very good.

If he stays next season we could see a completely different player with a different approach and hopefully better more ball playing defenders. The defence this year has not helped him.

 2

01 May 2024 00:08:40
Jean Claude Blanc coming in signals Tuchel or Zidane. Cheers.

 5

01 May 2024 01:18:14
Why does it do that? Because he knows them?! Blanc was involved anyway. He knew them before becoming interim CEO.

 6

01 May 2024 08:12:40
Experienced executive football leadership and people doing roles that require experienced executive football leadership.

 2

01 May 2024 10:39:52
I think it signals Ineos want an interim of their own choosing until Berrada starts.

Its just another example of people putting two and two together and getting five.

 1

30 Apr 2024 21:09:57
Hi Ed002, hope you're well. I notice over on the Liverpool page you mention you think MU can get something completed for Antonio Silva the CB at Benfica, did you mean for this coming summer? Thanks in advance.

 1

{Ed002's Note - Possibly.}

 4

30 Apr 2024 23:01:32
Very interesting Ed.

If I could choose someone from benfica it would be neves. A double deal would be nice lol.

 0

{Ed002's Note - He is not a CB.}

 2

01 May 2024 10:53:14
Thanks Ed, one to watch out for.

 0

01 May 2024 12:03:24
United agreeing terms with Silvia’s agent picking up traction on Twitter.

As it’s X, who knows what truth is but reckon someone’s aggregating Ed002’s info and passing it off as their own!

 3

01 May 2024 16:28:03
Seems to happen quite a bit Wallace!

Seen more and more stuff getting posted that I’m pretty sure I’ve read well in advance on here.
