I can't really argue with that Ed but what I would say is that I don't think Mctominay has shown enough offensively to play on the right of a midfield 3. Herrera has been available for most of the season and Jose has rarely played him with Pogba and Matic for some reason. I've called for a midfield 3 on countless occasions this season but I think this will need to be addressed in the summer.

I agree about Pogba but maybe he needs to take the criticism on board and just be more disciplined. I think he runs forward too early and seems to wait in positions rather than arrive in them. Sometimes when a move breaks down he's way ahead of the ball and if he could time his runs better he wouldn't be so far out of position on the occasions when a move breaks down. It will be interesting to see how France use him in the World Cup.

I'd just like to see more consistency in team selection and formation with more of a defined pattern of play and identity. I'd be happy with either 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3.

What I don't want to see is the likes of Sanchez, Martial, Rashford and Lingard being constantly moved around the attacking positions with new CB pairings every week and chopping and changing between a midfield 2 or 3.
