He's already having to contend with LVG's anti-south-american views too. Let's hope it doesn't cost him too much.

He said that he is aware of the rumour that LvG doesn't like South Americans, but that he has never had an issue with LvG.
He then went on to say about his personality can make it hard to get on with him sometimes.
To be honest it is something we have heard several times before from many different players. It may mean Varela gets a few less appearances this season. But with LvG likely gone come next season I don't think it will be a big problem for Varela.

Now Herrera is talking up the attacking merits of Jose's tactics in the Spanish media, while, simultaneously, saying it would be unfair to sack van Gaal. Something is definitely a foot at the club, I reckon it has become common knowledge that van Gaal is going to step down this summer.

danny i don't think what hererra said has anything to do with what will happen at utd in summer, reporter specifically questioned him about mourinho's style being not good enough for man utd and same with van gaal, where in the reporter asked him if it is unfair to sack van gaal, unless one hates either of van gaal or mourinho i don't see how any one answers either question differently to how hererra answered, with or without any inside knowledge.

I think if you're not trying to stir things up, then you decline to answer questions about another manager's suitability to manage your club, especially when your current manager has another season and a half on his contract. I think it's highly unusual for a player to openly discuss how another manager, who has been persistently linked with the club for the last two months, would fit with the club's identity. I mean, a week ago that van Gaal was criticising the media for speculating on his future, and Jose was at the centre of this speculation. Now one of his own players is talking up Jose's fit with United in the Spanish press. I can't honestly believe that Herrera doesn't realise the implications of this for both public perception and his relationship with van Gaal.
