Seems to me that this is an unusually difficult transfer window because so few of the really best players are moving. With so many clubs having huge revenue streams funded from TV it means the biggest clubs like United can no longer just buy who they want by waving wads of cash around. In a way its better because it levels the playing field. What it does do is highlight which clubs are really organised and know how to conduct their business efficiently. From the outside it appears that we are seriously lacking in that department. However that may be an unfair assessment. Maybe the reason I gave above for a slow market is the biggest factor in it being hard for United to get deals done. On a longer term view I actually would prefer us not to pay £80 million for a player if the calibre of Maguire. He is just not worth that amount. In a week when we have seen the troubles at Bolton and Bury I woukd rather we.
