Sounds like Shaw is definitely on his way out in the summer. Rumours of attitude issues in training.
Real shame as he has huge potential but unless you have the desire will never reach the maximum of his ability.

Agree5 Disagree0

Gone in the summer with Smalling. Both not fancied or trusted by Jose 😆😆.

03 Apr 2017 08:03:38
“It is difficult for him to be on the bench, ” he argued. “I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with Matteo Darmian, with Daley Blind. I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he commits, the focus, the ambition. I cannot compare. He is a long way behind. ”

Mourinho's comments about Luke Shaw. Well it looks like Shaw will be off in the summer and a new left back will obviously have to be bought as the only options we really have is Blind, other than that it's a converted RB in Darmian who many of us believe will be off in the summer, or a converted winger in Young who is also likely off in the summer or a converted CB in Rojo who has proven time and again he is poor at LB.

Why come out and say that though surely any potential buyers will be taking note, could be the difference between getting most of our money back and losing 15 million on him. I'm hoping he stays tbh.

03 Apr 2017 09:52:01
A work colleague of mine has played golf with Luke Shaws dad ( I know! ) and has told me that they can't stand Mourinho because of his arrogance when negotiating with Chelsea back before he signed for us.
I know this sounds a bit of a tale but if true, surely as a professional getting paid a lot of money, you would knuckle down and put your differences aside.
My work colleague also said Shaws dad is an arrogant so and so himself.

Been a lot of reports that shaw and his family and a fall out with Jose when shaw picked United over Jose Chelsea.

03 Apr 2017 10:33:59
Looks like Jose just doesn't fancy him.

There have been many question marks over his attitude and application, I think a few of the Eds alluded to this in previous posts.

Wouldn't believe the rumours regarding a fall out. That would be quite strange.

03 Apr 2017 11:13:28
All the talk about a previous fall out shouldn't matter. H is playing for Manchester United, not Jose Mourinho. Likewise, he is being paid by Manchester United. If that is the reason, he is a disgrace and not fit to wear the shirt. Get rid now while he still has some value.

He is letting the fans and himself down.

03 Apr 2017 11:25:27
From reading the posts, seems like Shaw doesn't want to play for Mourinho, Mourinho want players who are willing to put their body on the line for him, this is what happened at Madrid, players egos thinking they above the manager, unfortunately the players don't have a leg to stand on, 4 years of under-achieving, I know which side I would choose,

03 Apr 2017 11:43:47
Agreed Betty and Shane. Its the 3rd manager now who has questioned his attitude.

If he is not up to scratch then get rid.

03 Apr 2017 12:18:29
I would like him to stay but he digging himself a hole, tbh though it seems their a few more like him at the club, all this is going to do is emphases Mourinho buying more players who are willing to play for him than put their personal interest first.

03 Apr 2017 12:53:17
angel,
An ed has alluded to issues in the relationship between shaw his family and Jose in the past .
Starting to look like another young player not going to make it under Jose . For what ever reason.

03 Apr 2017 13:38:27
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Shaw has not got the touch to become a top full back, he does everything at 100mph. No football brain at all.
Then we have the problem with attitude and fitness. LVG, Roy Hodgson, and now Mourinho have all said the same thing. Can they all be wrong?
He is not professional and if anyone gives you the chance to play at a club like United, then you should knuckle down and get fit and ready to play.
He will go in the summer and we will get a decent Left Back and all talk of Shaw will end. He will probably sign for Spurs and play well for 5 games before the same problems arise.

03 Apr 2017 13:46:33
Shaw seems to lack focus, attitude and drive to stay at the top. It's hard work, and he either doesn't appreciate that or doesn't want it. Stay off th take away food too kid, it's not good for your fitness and recovery!

He'll make a decent living out of the game at a solid mid table side, but he's not United quality now mentally. Don't let the fact he's young cloud the issue. Hopefully something will click between now and June before he's turfed out to Stoke or wherever because he has the Rae material to be great. If it doesn't, replace him with someone better or give CBJ a go instead. There are plenty of examples of young lads who don't have the drive or toughness to be at the top of the game, he'll be another one.

{Ed004's Note - Firstly CBJ is not good enough. He couldn't even get into the Wolves team. I don't think the comments from Jose are one that's looking to maximise the sale of a player. They seem to be trying to motivate him to work harder. Either way left back must be an obvious target for the summer. Even if it is just for competition}

Spot on Betty spot on angel and spot on schmidfield.
Coleman has had a worse or at least as bad as break and I'm betting he comes back to the top level a lot quicker than Shaw. This is primarily because of his attitude commitment desire and professionalism.
I'm pretty sure we have seen the last of Shaw in a united jersey if he can't motivate himself to be as good as he can possibly be then he is at the wrong club.
Compare him to fellaini and the attitude appears to be like chalk and cheese. He is not doing his job to the best of his ability so it's last chance saloon for him at United now.
I'm sure Jose will be criticised by some for making his feelings public. But he gets asked weekly about Shaw so now everybody knows. So it's up to him to force his way in or get sold and try to rebuild his career elsewhere.

03 Apr 2017 13:51:51
I doubt many players liked SAF. Liking all the people you work with or for is one of the least important factors in any work environment. It's about respect: for yourself, for your team mates, for the fans, for the club that invested in you, and, yes, for the manager.

03 Apr 2017 14:19:27
jred it's well documented that shaw has attitude ad professionalism issues. Criticised by managers and eds on here.

If he stays on that path then he won't work out here. Can't keep saying, it's because of his leg break.

{Ed001's Note - Shaw was struggling before Jose arrived, so not sure how Jose can get any of the blame. He was overweight by a significant amount, had to hire a chef, rather than just showing self-discipline and losing the weight through exercise. I think that says a lot to me, he simply lacks desire, he does not want it enough as he has, in his mind, made it already. Depay was the same and it took the shock of being booted out to wake him up and make him realise he does have something to prove. Shaw will need the same to happen in my opinion. The only worry is that he will now have an easy excuse to continue down the wrong road, he can just blame Jose rather than accepting it is his own fault.}

03 Apr 2017 14:30:14
I think their a cultural shift, too many players believe in their own hype and their too much power in the player/ agents than the club, this nonsense wouldn't happen in the 90s, you be called out by your team mates/ leaders then the manager. again we lack those at the moment.

{Ed001's Note - a lot of it stems from parents. Shaw's dad is bemoaning Jose, rather than giving his lad a kick up the arse. My parents would have just told me to buck my ideas up and listen to my boss if it had been me.}

03 Apr 2017 14:41:41
Something
But it does make a difference, Leicester players where unhappy under Rainer, look a different team once he has left . Look at Chelsea under Jose last season hazard and co where shocking.
It's just one of them things.

03 Apr 2017 14:42:06
angel,

No one has mentioned his leg break above. Young player with years ahead of him, some won't be happy until he is sold. Time will tell and it may not be at United but I still think he will be a top player.

That may be at United, at 21 he has time on his side and I think Gary Neville was spot on with his comments today ( someone who has worked with the player ) or may be at somewhere like spurs under poch a manager he has worked with before.

03 Apr 2017 14:45:36
Appreciate the clarification on shaw's issues ED.

There seems to be a lot of shaw apologists on the site who either a) like to blame Jose (Don't know how, because many of his manager's have criticised him) or b) continue to blame his leg break

Shaw needs to buck up now or get shipped out and continue to suffer from his lack of desire and work ethic at another club.

{Ed001's Note - it is defo not his leg break, it is all down to an attitude that is unsuitable for professional football at the top level. It is easy to blame Jose, because players will say the right things on social media and play the victim. Just look at how many Liverpool fans defended Sakho when Klopp booted him out. It is irrelevant if they are a good player or not, they still have to earn their place within the club. A bad attitude can spread.}

03 Apr 2017 14:57:50
jred this is a specific question to you mate since you have used this age factor a number of times on this page for a lot of players, be it Martial, Rashford, Januzaj et al. How is age or how young a player is related to the quality of that player? How, Shaw being 21, will he improve? IF he has it, it should show on the field. I bet you can't give me 5 games where Shaw has been brilliant. He has been here 4 years now, so 5 games shouldn't be difficult.

Now I am not saying that he is a bad player. Far from it. But he has serious attitude issues and simply isn't good enough in the head to fix them. On the path to be a Ravel Morrison.

I remember reading Rio's article on Pogba where he states that Pogba even at 16,17 wanted to be world's best and a winner. Do you think Shaw has that?

03 Apr 2017 15:05:39
Jerd, many have mentioned his leg break as an excuse, i think you may have mentioned it on occasion.

I would love for shaw to succeed, he is as talented a LB I have seen at United. But with talent you also need the correct work ethic, in every line of work.

It has become quite apparent now that Shaw has not got that work ethic for whatever reason. I hope that changes, either now or in the future.

03 Apr 2017 15:56:00
Good post angel.

03 Apr 2017 16:18:06
Shan,
9 times out of 10 a player is better in his mid 20s than he was at 18, 19,20.
I can't believe you have asked

How the age of a player is related to the quality
And how can a 21 year old improve?

Shaw has only been at the club for 3 years not 4, 1 of them spent injured .
5 games he has played well? He was playing well under lvg and fantastic at Southampton .

03 Apr 2017 18:19:11
Buttner did more than what Shaw has done for us at LB. That is saying something.

03 Apr 2017 18:55:02
i would take Jose's public comments about Luke Shaw with a pinch of salt. the 'squad' players Jose mentioned; Darmian, Blind and Young will most likely be sold in the summer. I am sure if they wanted Shaw gone they would have loaned him out in January.
