I saw a long thread about the Liverpool game. I'd like to give you my view but I fell asleep watching the second half, that's how dull it was. Ok, I was tired and tucked up in bed watching it on the iPad but I actually fell asleep watching a game against Liverpool. That says it all for me.

Agree2 Disagree4

Van gaal would have been crucified on here if he set up like that. Liverpool were poor. I remember a similar game last season (can't remember who but it was another top team away from home) and everyone on here was whinging that the game was there for the taking and we should have gone for it. But because it was Jose managing us this time it's a masterclass in tactics.

AJH, Andy I said the same and got crucified on here.

How many important away games did we see fergie put Darren Fletcher in the middle and Rooney on the left to shore up the defence. Everyone seems to think every game was swashbuckling attacking football. I feel we pressed high in the first half and were the better team. 2nd half I think we paid to much respect to Liverpool when in reality they're not as good as being made out. But I think mourinho felt he could not lose this match.

0-0 at Liverpool is a good result considering our overall record there. Valuable point. Move on.

I would normally agree with you guys about united having to be on the front foot and going after teams but over the past 3 years i can name numerous occasion when we have done so and got picked apart easily.

Moyes 13/ 14

City away 4-1
City home 3-0
Liverpool home 3-0

Lvg 14/ 15

Leicester 5-3
Everton 3-0

Lvg 15/ 16

Arsenal away 3-0
Wolfsburg away 3-2
Liverpool away 2-0

Jose 16/ 17

City 2-1

And that's forgetting the numerous times de gea has gotten us out of jail in games we had every right to lose.

The point i am trying to make is over the past 3 years at times when we've needed to take the initiative we have come up woefully short and been exposed because our defence needs a solid structure in front to cope.

It might seem like i'm making excuses but if jose doesn't want to give anything away in these big games i think its perfectly acceptable as long as we do our job against the smaller teams in convincing fashion.

Here we go again 😂 I think the difference being under Jose fans can see us going somewhere so can take the odd game like that, under lvg it was every game near enough and we saw bleak times going forward that's why lvg was 'crucified'. Time to move on though isn't we have got Chelsea tomorrow, we have actually played some good stuff this season if I remember correctly, will take time to be consistent.

GD enough of that sensible talk on here.

And Fergie never ever played defensively. we always attacked!

22 Oct 2016 10:02:15
We were usually in 1st or 2nd place, so Fergie could set up for a draw now and then against the bigger teams. We're in 7th now. And I saw someone say same again against Chelsea, please. Yes, another draw. That'll have us shooting up the table.

as much as I think the Liverpool game was the right way to go, they have had a settled year, with Chelsea they are vulnerable at the back, new manager, new system and I hope we can think let's go at them thinking about it.

22 Oct 2016 10:14:13
So if we manage to finish 1st or 2nd this year you won't mind then?

22 Oct 2016 10:25:26
Fergie NEVER went into any game with the intention of not trying to win. He may have gone in to be defensive but their would be spells during every game that we would see United wanted to win the game.

Jose had no intention of winning that game, nada. That is the difference.

How many more weeks are we going to return to this liverpool game.
Its sooo boring, worse than liverpools attacking last monday.

move on.

22 Oct 2016 13:49:29
Maze, we were easily the better team for the first 30 mins. We had several games under Ferguson that played out the same way, with Ruud or Ronney isolated up front and Rooney playing as a second left back.

22 Oct 2016 15:04:16
We got a respectable result at anfield. To respect and see the value in that result, people only need to ask Chelsea and Arsenal fans, good exciting football and goals and yet "0" points to brag.

Anyways we just beat Fenerbahce and a good performance and people are still crying over the Liverpool result. What if we had a go and lost to Liverpool. Imagine the number of those fools coming over to our page and bragging. You see we haven't any Liverpool canon here after the game. What does that tell you? We were good. Stop crying and move on.

Spot on shan they have only failed to score at home twice in last 20 games. Let's see in 15 games time if that point was a good one or not.
