After months of horrible football, I am finally sensing some breath of fresh air . But how many of folks here think LVG was a mistake for us? I admit he was a kind of weirdo with not seeing what we fan could see. I mean we would pass the ball 50 times towards our goalie before starting an attack but he would claim ourselves as attacking team. Though he frustrated me time and time again but i think his 2 years was much needed for us . Upon his arrival, he did the much needed work of clearing deadwoods . Ferguson never cared about it nor Moyes had guts for it . He without any hesitation sold most of the players who were just enjoying the club's wages . He further laid the foundation for youngsters to step towards the first team (even though it was partly down to injuries) .
I am glad that he is now sacked but in the same time i am happy that he spent two years at our club.

I agree, I'm glad he came and for the job he did on the squad as a whole. SAF left us in a bad way and we are in a much better place now. He wasn't perfect in any way, but who is?

19 Jun 2016 16:10:08
I defiantly wouldn't say it was needed. Being out the CL again and spending the best part of £300m was not needed. The youngsters got chances due to injury. Had that not happened who's wouldn't have seen half as many. He got rid of a few of the poorer players. But there's players he got rid of which could have stayed as squad players. Like Rafael, henandez etc. There's still a lot of players not up to it here, Jones, McNair, Valencia, Young, Janazaj, Fellaini. While he spent a lot on a poor players such as Rojo. The two things I'm thankful to him for are the FA Cup and keeping De Gea one more year. Other than that he was a disaster.

I agree. I think LVG did a lot for the club behind the scenes aswell that us fans will never see, steadying the ship, so to speak. Thankfully now we have a new leader that will take us forwards and get the club back where it belongs in challenging for titles and return to Europe.

stand barring rojo who else was a poor signing, many of them haven't performed well enough for which van gaal is mostly to blame but most of signing atleast at time of their signing looked like what we needed, also barring hernandez none who he sold have done anything noteworthy and barring young and valencia either of whom can be decent squad player is above 25, mcnair and januzaj have come through the ranks selling them just yet would be unfair and we did try to sell felliani to napoli it just did not materialize.

Van gaal's term while unspectacular was very necessary as it brought stability that we had been missing.

19 Jun 2016 16:58:16
We can blame van gaal all day but surely Woodward has to get a share of the blame too. The myopic transfer targets and apparent lack of football knowledge went a long way into putting the club where it is now.

I didn't want lvg and i'm glad he has gone .
His brand of football was out of date and awful to watch .
He was chased out of munich and barce for the same reason.

He done nothing any half decent manager wouldn't of done with 300 mil to spend .
He was given money and time but was never going to be a hit at united imo.

19 Jun 2016 17:39:48
I think we should forget about LVG and never bring his name up again. IMO he was a failure at our club.
The past is the past, let's leave it there.

Replaced what people call deadwood with yet more (even more expensive) deadwood. Awful football.

I dread to think what he did behind the scenes, I mean come on. He couldn't do his main job right so why do people have some bizarre faith in that his "master plan" behind the scenes is going to be anything but a farce ultimately.

Some flashy words, some huge ego, a lot of excuses but at the end of the day it was just horrible, horrible football. Good riddance, enjoy your £18m and I'd like to enjoy watching my team now.

We really did need to trim the squad down significantly because a lot of the players weren't good enough, I feel the squad we have now is stronger than what saf left moyes, and the young lads coming through look real prospects. Whether they would be where they were if a different manager was in charge is up for debate but we can't know for sure. I'm greatful for what lvg has done, he seems to have left the club with a squad with a lot of potential, and with mourinho in charge we should be challenging for the title, although we've said the same thing for the last 3 years now.

19 Jun 2016 19:00:00
His style and methods were outdated yes and I'm glad we made a change but I'm still of the opinion that certain players need to have a look at themselves too.

19 Jun 2016 19:09:18
For those disagreeing - wishful thinking against what you have seen with your own eyes? I'd love to be an employee of yours, I could spin you any yarn and you'll think I'm a legend.

Sorry I'm late boss, I just saved 50 people's lives on a bus with Sandra Bullock - thanks for the pay rise, yeah I am a hero and an asset. Evidence, nah you don't need that, just trust me!

I don't get why people still have faith in the ideas of an over the hill delussionist, but each to their own.

19 Jun 2016 17:47:12
Useless imo. We sacked the last manager for finishing 7th with a very old team in a league where teams were on great form. LVG got hundreds of millions to spend and in a league, where many teams are also under transition. I think we could have signed Toy Pulis gave him 30 million and would have gotten us top 3.

19 Jun 2016 19:16:17
I agree with that Deano. Lots of players under achieving. The style and man management was a no doubt poor but even with that lots of players were woefully short of acceptable.

19 Jun 2016 19:46:15
Why are we getting so heated about the past? It has thankfully gone.
I agree we still have a number of under achievers. I don't think we need to worry too much, with JMB I don't think they will be here too long if they do not start earning their crust.

'Deadwood'. Grrrrrrrr.

19 Jun 2016 22:01:36
I hate the term deadwood .

Cant believe i got 8 disagree's.
Makes it worse that bren got the same amout of agrees.

19 Jun 2016 22:21:24
Think someone is taking the p. ss with the agrees and disagrees today, whoever it is please stop it, you are upsetting Jred greatly. I've got your back fella.

19 Jun 2016 22:49:37
Bren
Of course, that must be it.

19 Jun 2016 23:46:43
Jred you may hate the term deadwood, but you have to admit it was a damned good TV series.

20 Jun 2016 02:46:15
Sounds like a porno for necrophiliacs.
