Nunez to Liverpool is done. Even the Eds don't have a 100% hit record!

No other forwards on the horizon though seemingly bar an outside punt on Lewandowski?

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope we target Gianluca Scamacca or a versatile forward like Nkunku.

I like the look of Isak, I was thinking someone will be in for him thus summer.

Duvin - we have previously been linked in reverse order with Nunez, Kane and Haaland. All of which are non-starters. Lewandowski is moving from Bayern seemingly so an obvious one to link with too though seemingly he seems set on Barca. We are not being linked with other strikers though. Given Ten Hag's initial list was suggested as Nunez, De Jong, Timber, Torres I'm surprised we are not linked with others but that said I don't know what our 1st/ 2nd/ 3rd choices are for different positions. It is quite possible we don't look for a striker now that Nunez is off the market and look to Rashford and / or Martial to cover Ronaldo. let's see what happens.

EtH has not exclusively played with a traditional CF.

Yes with Haller his Ajax side had a proper CF who could play on the shoulder, hold up and link play, all while looking to get in the box to score.

Yet his first Ajax team often lined up with Tadic in a false 9 role, which incidentally Donny would often drift forward and swap places during play.

In Ronaldo we have a traditional striker, we also have players like Rashford, Donny, or Bruno who could easily adapt to play a false 9 role. Which is something EtH could look to if he is unable to bring in a striker of the right calibre.

While it's important not to over spend on players just to get them in, it's equally or even more important to not spend for the sake of it, bringing in players who are 5th choice or players who aren't good enough.

No point trying to shift out 10-15 players this summer who aren't good enough only to bring in more players who aren't good enough. Waste of time and money.

Better to make do for a year and bring in a player of the right quality next summer.

Agree let’s see what happens…. I’m not sure how accurate the suspected initial list even was/ is
I would not be surprised if they sound out Kane avenue at all…. I think people saying he got CL at spurs so he be happy, he got zero chance of winning it with them, so I am not so sure, and he still peed of for them scuppering his move last season, so we will have to see, but I’m just thinking let ETH makes his plans and hopefully implement them and they are successful, but it’s still a gamble as we know…. well some do, some just think the Ajax team will do!

I'm not overly disappointed to lose out on Nunez if as expected he is a Liverpool player within days. The feeling has been consistent that they were his preferred club going back to the Benfica v Liverpool matches last season where I'm sure Klopp had a few words. I'm sure Cavani would have had a few things to say too. For as many fans who wanted him an equal amount were quick to point out his rawness and the old chestnut, a 'poor first touch'. Best move on, he had his heart set elsewhere.

More concerning is the suggestion that Utd have been talking to his agent for a fortnight without establishing that he wasn't even interested. We were only ever a back-up option. Leverage for Benfica to start a bidding war only for him to go elsewhere at the end of it all.

I think Kane is in the right place at the right time. Had Spurs not qualified then maybe Chelsea or Real could have moved for him, but now with a few solid signings to back up Conte's commitment I think they'll be very strong next season.

Spenno, I think he was definitely interested but it was always going to be difficult without Champions League. Ed002 on the Liverpool pages said he expected him to join us until Liverpool got involved. I'm only disappointed because it's obviously someone Ten Hag wanted and I think it's imperative we get the players in who he's chosen. Other than that it is what it is. I would still expect Ronaldo to outscore him next year.

It just brings up question marks a out our ability to get a deal done and dusted quickly. Maybe we weren't comfortable with the fee, maybe the players need wasn't there. Whatever it was, it's done and we move on.

Funny actually watching Klopp talk nonsense when we signed Pogba saying even if he could, he'd never sign a player for that amount of money as it goes against everything he believes. He's now maxing out loans to get the deal done.
