Question for Ed 002

Can the players extricate themselves from their current contracts on the basis of being constructively dismissed as there will be a material change to their working conditions if the super league goes ahead? A change which they had no knowledge of on signing any contract and also having been given no opportunity to discuss it with their employers prior to the announcement.

Also if the other national and international football bodies exclude them from playing in any of their competitions can they use that to argue the clubs joining the super league are effectively imposing restraints of trade.

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - The players are contracted to the clubs, if they wish to leave they need to talk with the clubs - most clubs will not block players leaving if the want. The cannot simply walk away from their contracts - they could look to taking the club to court but it would hurt the players. Remembering the crippling financial issues faced by Bosman.}
