Some interesting debates today. I love all the different views but what frustrates me is when people take a position and then defend it at all costs. I know some people are more naturally optimistic whilst for others we're all doomed but surely people can't be so entrenched that they feel they have to stick to their view?

Sometimes I'm right, usually I'm wrong sometimes I am happy and positive, sometimes I am depressed and hacked off, I don't get how people want to argue black is white sometimes.

{Ed025's Note - its just human nature im afraid AJH..

Spot on, mate.

I am definitely of a more positive disposition as far as the team is concerned, but I would hope that I can see faults and acknowledge them without my emotive side kicking in.

I agree too. I'm definitely a glass half full type 99% of the time. Life is too short to get so uptight about a sport. I love United and football as much as anyone else, but at the end of the day it is a game, so let's enjoy it. It's a roller coaster at the minute, but when the good times return, and they will, we will enjoy them all the more. We became far too spoilt, especially the younger supporters who only knew success, but it isn't a god given right.

Spot on Brendan i love football and Man Utd but some people take it too seriously and end up fighting over something we can't control.

Not only is the glass half empty it is filled with a foul smelling, bilious, undrinkable liquid with oily slicks floating on the surface and lumps of varying mucous like textures hidden within the sludge, unnoticed until they present themselves on the brink of ones throat.

Very good post brendan. I think you have to be half full kind of person, otherwise you just become miserable lol.

And too many fans let football get them down, its only a game at the end of the day.

I'm with you on this bren and angel. I much prefer to look at the positives. I spent my entire childhood watching united winning the odd fa cup 76 final was my first live game 77 final was my 2nd.
I think we are improving only 6 points separating 5 teams. Chelsea are like an unstoppable runaway train this season. The rest are all close.
Sure we could have and should have converted a few draws into wins. But we haven't but it's not the end of the world.

I prefer to look at the negatives, so that we can turn them into positives (long game), it's vital that we are uber critical if we want to get back to the top of the mountain. Otherwise you typically end up with a situation where complacency seeps in, or excuses are made for failure which has happened non-stop for 3-4 years.

There are a lot of positives to point to at the minute undoubtedly, but I fear there are a lot more things that need substantial improvement if we want to get back to where we should be.

I am personally very happy in life (believe it or not) and I put that down to striving to improve and ironing out any small problems/ issues before they turn into big ones in my personal life - watching my club suffer is probably the only negative in my life which is why I care so much about it. That is why I am quick to criticize the football, partly because I have no control over it (this is my outlet) and partly because I can see glaring issues that are simply papered over with BS excuses by some supporters and the club. Simple fact is that we are not doing as well as we should be, so constructive criticism is essential if the club is to make the changes necessary to improve.

I post on here because I enjoy it and I like reading other opinions, a secondary reason is because I hope that somebody with a bit of say at the club bothers to read what educated/ passionate fans think of the situation and hope some of it rubs off. Probably why I get so frustrated seeing constant excuses as it negates a lot of the things that need serious work.

Reading some of the posts you would think we were playing well and just being unlucky, yet we are not flowing properly most games and play for just 10 mins or so of the 90 anything like a Man Utd team should with the resources we have. We are playing no better now than we did at the start of the season and that is very concerning to me.

Beast,

I knew that was your post before I even saw the name, you are utterly deluded if you think anything you say on here affects what happens at the club, we are just debating between ourselves not trying to get a position at the club.

We aren't doing as well as we should be, I agree with you on that, but we aren't that far off and we were doing a lot worse last season. The first 40 minutes against Bournemouth was some of the best free flowing football we have played this season and the red card changed the game, meant they put 10 behind the ball and wasted a good 20 minutes of the 2nd half faking injuries (something that needs to be cut out soon rather than refs just making up 5 minutes added time when it should have been more like 15).

GDS2 - I read things on here all the time and then they are in the papers as "opinion" pieces a few days later, they gather traction and all of a sudden you hear clubs and players commenting on stuff the papers/ media are saying. You are being naive mate if you think that there is no chance for cause and effect to take place, it happens in every walk of life. I appreciate the chances of Jose reading a post from one of us and seeing the light bulb is practically zero, but getting the ball rolling is all we can try, after all he did try 4-4-2 the other day haha.

It was the first 20mins we played well against Bournemouth. We stopped after we scored and I'd imagine as Bournemouth started the game with no confidence after recent hidings that was why we looked so bright, but that's up for debate and I'd like to think it was solely down to us, but the drop off after we scored was ridiculous.

Good post, Tony. I like to think I'm open-minded enough to appreciate different points of view. There's been a few reasoned arguments on here over the years from various people, that have made me stop and think, and change my opinion on something. Some people see changing their mind as a sign of weakness. I think it's a sign of maturity that you can hold a view on something, but come round to another way of thinking, if the argument is valid. Like others have said, it's only a game of football.

07 Mar 2017 15:49:47
Ah yes we only started well on Saturday because of Bournemouth's lack of confidence, my bad, I thought we just played well.

07 Mar 2017 16:24:09
I used to like you Nou, but I've changed my mind :)

How mature of me. Not. lol.
