Irrespective of how we are playing as a unit currently which players at United currently do you think would walk into another likely silverware winning / competing team this season. Eg do you think Arsenal would improve with De Gea rather than Cech, do you think Smalling could displace Kompany in the heart of City's defence?

Hypothetical of course and appreciate we can only guess who will win silverware this season.

Also I'm asking you to comment on what you think players are capable of rather than necessarily what they are showing this season under our illustrious philosopher leader.

For me:

De Gea - I would have DDG in front of any other keeper. Yes I have red tinted specs but I think he would walk into any team anywhere and improve it.

Shaw - such a shame about his injury but clearly he would make a lot of LBs worry about their starting place. Great potential. I think he would displace any LB in the league.

Herrera - has his critics as can be in and out sometimes but I remember when he dominated us playing for Athletic Bilbao. Has every and creative flair but think he's better box to box rather than the more forward position he tends to take up if he ever gets any game time.

Schneiderlin - I'm judging on Southampton form rather than displays in a United shirt tbh but was absolutely chuffed to big when we signed him. Can play any midfield position for me but think his best role would be as a box to box.

Mata - would be a great number 10 for anyone but we waste him on the right wing. I feel sorry for the lad as his obvious class just not shining through.

So.
Problem 1: there are only 4 players on my 'keep at all costs' list.
Problem 2: I think that entire Spanish contingent is leaving in the summer : (

Joy.

So you wouldn't keep martial.

Exactly what I was thinking leahy once we get a manager that knows how to use him properly he's going to be world class.

I don't think Herrera would walk into our rivals midfields. He's a good player but don't know why he is everyone's golden boy. There are numerous superior midfielders that are better than him domestically and internationally.

I agree fresh. He is a good player, I don't think we are using him in a way that shows his best qualities all the same.

Would Martial walk into any team now and improve it? He's got great potential. Absolutely. But I regard the others as established players.

Will have to disagree re Herrera. I think he's class. And that's going to be proven sadly when he moves on elsewhere.

Fresh,

Herrera is a much better player when he's not playing, he's the player everybody raves about but when he plays he isn't actually that good, just better than what we have got.

Yesterday he was awful, kept giving the ball away and that isn't a one off, it happens quite often, then LVG takes him out the team and people complain saying he should be back in, I've never understood the love it with him, he's a good player but if we were better I think he would be a squad player.

Martial would make arsenal a lot stronger.

If Herrera got the run in the side he should do, and by that I don't mean 2 or 3 games, but consistency, then I fully believe he would be one of our best players. I think he's a very very good player. The problem is the minute he has a bad game it's back to the bench for him. Others, such as Rooney, mata etc can perform poor game on game and keep their place. Herrera needs continuity and to forge an understanding with the players around him. Not the choking and changing constantly! Ironically, I prefer a midfield of Schneiderlin and Hererra, the two LVG tends to leave out in the big games.

I believe Herrera is not highly motivated at the moment, he looks to me like he is being restricted in the areas he is allowed to get into. His demeanour is, along with others, not looking as up for it as you would expect. I think Herrera needs to be played to his strengths and on what planet is Fellani being preferred to a natural footballer like Ander?

If LVG is allowed to sell him it could be a big mistake.

As a spurs fan I would pick Shaw and probably whoever plays in eriksens position and that's about it.
