I thought you were going to say Tom Heaton and Johnny Evans.
What a start to the trasnfer window!

05 Jun 2024 17:01:52
Simo I think there is merit in keeping both to be honest. Heaton offers great experience and for 3rd choice is probably ideal.
Evans again is unlikely to play as much as this year buy does offer great experience and know how which we lack.
If Evans staying means lindelof and maguire move on then great.
I think he would still be behind 2 new boys big willy and martinez.
It very much depends on who leaves and who comes in. But I'd keep Evans ahead of Harry and lindelif anyday as 4th/ 5th choice.

I don't think Tom Heatons contract being extended is an issue. Its no different to Scott Carson at Manchester City. Keeps the English quota up and will never push first choice. Might also offer some experience to the younger goalkeepers.

Jonny Evans is weird one, you could argue that featuring 30 times means he deserves an extension, with a view only to offer experience in the changing room. If that's the case then I'm all for it, providing it doesn't block a move for a first choice centre-back.

And they’ve given the job to gio van bronckhorst…?? never trust espn ??‍♂️.

That probably means only one CB signing this year. hmm JB/ Diomande/ Silva. For me you go JB now, English, EPL proven, young etc etc.

Onana
Dalot
Licha
JB
Shaw

Mainoo
Neves
Bruno

Garnacho
Rasmus
Rashford/ Amad

2 signings. transforms the team.
Of course we need more, but that is a start.

Lucky escape for besiktas.

Evans makes absolute sense to me and will not stop us bringing in 2 new CB’s. It should mean that we will sell Maguire and Lindelof to generate some income with Martinez, Evans, Kambwala and 2 new for next year.

Evans will not expect lots of minutes but when called upon appears to be up to speed quickly.

05 Jun 2024 19:46:03
JBR, we need a right footed centre back not another leftie.

05 Jun 2024 21:08:57
IWMTB, then Diomande, get JB next year when Everton get relegated.

05 Jun 2024 22:42:28
IWOTB, why? Why can two right footed players both play CB alongside eachother but not two left footed players?

Rio and Vidic were both right footers, are you suggesting that if they were both left footed that they wouldn't have worked together?

Branthwaite might be left footed but he spent nearly his entire loan spell at PSV playing in the RCB position.

Max Kilman is naturally left footed but tends to play RCB.

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever why Branthwaite and Martinez couldn't work really well together. Branthwaite's skills are really well suited to support Martinez and vice versa.

At a time in the game where left footed CB's are at a premium, and are coveted by many managers, having two that are potentially amoungst the world's best would be an excellent start in trying to return to the top.

JB has stated himself he is left footed, especially for long passes, however is quite okay with his RF for shorter passes.
I think this is something of a nothing burger.

Kurtis Heywood - exactly my thoughts regarding Evans.
I want to see Kambwala pushing through to the first team this season.
You can guarantee (if ETH is still in charge) that he will pick Evans over Kambwala if we have another injury crises.
In my humble opinion Kambwala looks a real talent and should of been playing on a regular basis last season. ETH even decided that Casemiro was the better option of a couple of occasions which actually still baffles the life out of me.

06 Jun 2024 09:55:53
Simon, you have absolutely zero guarantee that would happen again. Like zero.
Why would you throw WK in when the team are being pulled apart? Batter his confidence beyond repair. Makes no sense, whatsoever. If he is good enough, he will be ahead of the likes of Evans.
Need we remind you of the likes of Mainoo, Garnacho etc who proved they were the better choice.
WK should be knocking on the door of the first team, and he will, when he is ready. He isn't there yet, in my opinion, but will definitely be there or thereabouts come the end of this season.

06 Jun 2024 11:46:58
Jimbobred - a few reasons why let me explain.
1) He plays at centre back which is where we were short. Imagine playing a centre back in his correct position hey.
2) He's a lot more mobile than Casemiro, a lot younger, better in the air, better positional sense.
3) He has already had first team experiance and has been around the first team for most of the season.
Look at Mainoo as an example.
What you are coming out with is absolute garbage.

07 Jun 2024 01:23:06
Only way someone gets there or thereabouts is playing

Linder and Maguire should be sold

Wk and a new signing as cover and a new cb to partner Martinez

We also need a new left back, shaw can’t play every game (in my opinion should be sold) and malacia where is he and can he even play anymore.
