Anthony should be second fiddle to amad.
21 Jul 2024 03:42:49
Antony should be out of the club.
21 Jul 2024 05:32:01
Second? As a right wing option I'd have him behind Amad, Garnacho, Rashford, Sancho, Mount, Bruno, Pellistri, Ethan Williams, AWB, and Doris the team lady.
21 Jul 2024 08:18:09
Antony pound for pound is probably the worst signing we’ve ever made. He’s right up there, given his fee, with Bebe and Taibi.
21 Jul 2024 09:20:18
Pound for pound brings anderson into it, who was an excellent player, but those burgers in manchester.
21 Jul 2024 09:29:30
Pogba still out in front in terms of our worse ever signing, given he went for free, came back for a fortune and did more harm than good, and then went on a free again.
I think Antony fell well behind towards the end of last season, ETH was playing Amad ahead of him. I doubt we will see a great deal more of him unless there’s another injury crisis.
21 Jul 2024 10:18:02
Yeah, Pogba has to be in top 3. Remember Kleberson, he was a shocker as well. And in the same generation we had Jordi Cruyff and Poborsky ?.

Like any club we've made some bad transfers. While there are loads of low cost options who were a bit of a gamble that never worked out, I don't class these in the same category as players like Pogba, Antony, Lukaku, Veron, Sanchez, Sancho, Di Maria etc.
These were players bought for big fees to go straight into the first team. These are the big transfer mistakes.
Players that not only didn't solve the problem they were bought for, but also carry a heavy financial burden that possibly limits the club to bring in a quality replacement.
While players like Lukaku, Di Maria, Veron, Sanchez, and Antony were bought for big fees and wages, then sold at a loss.
For me the two players who stand out as our worst ever signings are Pogba and Sancho.
Not only did these two not fulfill the need they were bought to fill, while also costing huge amounts in fees and wages, both also further sullied their reputation with the club by causing off the field issues that has had on the pitch impacts.
Personally I think that while Pogba was clearly a very bad signing, he has been pipped to worst ever signing by Sancho. Who has not only contributed far less on the pitch, but has also caused significant issues off it. All while costing the club 75m and 250k per week wages (of which we had to pay nearly 200k last season while he was on loan at Dortmund) .
Sancho is our worst ever signing.

Pogba No1
Sanchez No2
Anthony No3.

Think I'd include Martial in the mix but he didn't seem a bad egg like the others. The world's most expensive teenager at the time. He's literally been injured for most of his stay, whether he's actually been injured or just declared himself unable to play more than most who knows but he wasn't there to be counted on when required.
I think it's hard for an player whether a marquee signing or youngster to come in and make an impact in a poor team. Fernandes is a good exception, he lit the team up, but Sancho/ Pogba/ di Maria were in sides on the decline and didn't make the miracle impact. It seems much easier to go into a successful team that's on a high. When's the last time City made a dud signing?
21 Jul 2024 11:59:43
Ok, Phillips lol.
{Ed001's Note - Grealish.}
21 Jul 2024 12:12:29
If Anthony stays eth will give him plenty of chances to play. He said again yesterday he is still convinced Anthony has what it takes to play for united.
I've not seen anything to suggest that yet.
I hope someone comes in for him along with sancho I feel both are a row waiting to erupt if it doesn't go their way.
I think sancho is more likely to leave of the pair. Because he can make some sort of contribution wherever he goes.
21 Jul 2024 12:32:14
ED001,
Grealish flatters to deceive. Yet he receives little or no criticism.
{Ed001's Note - I would say that is overly nice about him. His biggest strength was winning a free kick when he was the one committing the foul, but that seems to have deserted him at City. Without it, he is being shown for what he is - not actually very good at all.}

ETH obsession with Antony will cost him his job if he isn’t careful. He is bang average and should and will fade into obscurity.
There is absolutely not an EPL player in there……period.
21 Jul 2024 14:59:47
ETH doesn’t have an obsession with Antony. He tried to play him into form and admittedly tried for too long, but he hardly got a look in last season.
He was asked about the player and gave a diplomatic answer, which hopefully resonates with the player.

Spenno, City have signed over 50 players during Pep's management of the club, the fact that nearly half of them have already left suggests that not all their transfers work out.
As pointed out by Ed001, Grealish hasn't been great, while Phillips has flopped, has Matheus Nunes been a success? The less said about Mendy the better.
While players like Ferran Torres, Laporte, Sane, Gabriel Jesus, Danilo, Nolito, Claudio Bravo, Sergi Gomez, Zinchenko, Aaron Mooey, Jack Harrison, Issa Kabore, Rulli, Steffen, Angelino, Douglas Luiz and Pedro Porro all ultimately failed to make the grade at City.
On the whole I'd say City have done pretty well with their transfers as seen by their recent success. However, a bottomless pit to buy a new CB every summer for example does help.
21 Jul 2024 15:58:12
It will be interesting to see what happens with our RW options.
Sancho and Antony cost around £150m between them but it's the kid Amad that always takes his chances when given them, makes an impact in the big games and doesn't seem to have the baggage or hang-ups.
I must say I'd prefer to keep Sancho over Antony as I think he's a better player but that's not saying much, he did himself no favours with his childish behaviour and although it might seem a bit harsh to give him the chop based on that if he's apologised, knuckles down and helps us get some kind of rhythm going then I'm sure all will be forgotten pretty quickly.
21 Jul 2024 16:10:01
Wazza eyh had to voice him those chances imo. He tried to stand by his man . He has had him since young and believes in him but the epl is not for Anthony I think the penny has dropped work eth and or forced on him.
21 Jul 2024 18:17:05
I don’t think any recentish City signings have flopped in the way we are talking about Utd signings like Pogba and Antony et al. I mean properly gone off the rails, complete waste of tens of millions flopped. Grealish and Nunes haven’t been great, especially the former at that ridiculous price, but don’t think they’ve been woeful. Of course players are going to leave for a multitude of reasons, now you’re just being silly.
21 Jul 2024 20:07:23
Spenno, you said and I quote "when's the last time City made a dud signing? "
I then listed 20 signings City have made in the past 7 years under Pep who have not succeeded, i. e. a dud signing.
Obviously there are scales of failure, and United have made more mistakes and more costly mistakes. No one is denying that.
21 Jul 2024 22:14:25
We shall see.
21 Jul 2024 23:33:49
Having thought about it a bit more, I think Di Maria is right up there too. His mental toughness had the breaking strain of a soggy Kit Kat.
22 Jul 2024 10:56:17
Fireman, I think Di Maria is an interesting one. He showed some absolute top form in some games for us.
I feel that if he actually wanted to be here, and we had a manager that would play to his strengths then he could have been a huge success.
However, we have LvG who was allergic to taking chances and shooting. While neither he or more importantly his wife wanted to be in Manchester.
It's impossible to succeed doing something you don't want to do. Had his wife settled and was happy, then I expect he'd have been happier and more settled. Then he might have actually been a success. I'd chalk his failure down to circumstances more than anything else personally.

Mad Hatter, that's because he's a geezer, inne? ?.
