I see Omar Berrada has started work today, all the pieces seem to have fallen into place.

Amadou Onana on the verge of leaving Everton and signing for Villa for a fee of £50m. That will be the end of any deal for Branthwaite if it goes through.

Will be sad to see Willy go but a possible 11m euros plus buy back and big sell on clause seems a good deal, he is a huge Man Utd fan so probably difficult for him also. One issue that did concern me was his injury record, in 4 years with us he only played a total of 10 games.

Talking of stats, which no one is! a very interesting one on Kobbie, prior to the last eng game Kobbie had the highest pass completion rate of ANY midfielder in the entirety of the European Championships since records began in 1980. He could be pretty good when he grows up.

Kobie's trajectory has been incredible. Joins the first team becomes a regular, is likely to start the Euros final. He has taken it all in his stride, he has been awesome. for both club and country. And yet 18 months ago, who had heard of him?

Surely we have a few more.

Waiting for shea lacey.

Yeah, there are a few more potential jewels in the academy system, but it's not just what they have in their feet that will decide their fate, but what they have by way of mentality. I think that will be the deciding factor for many of them.

The obvious ones for next season are Harry Amass, I mentioned him some months back and Toby Collyer a defensive midfielder, we signed him from Brighton 2 years ago. (He has just signed a new contract) he also has that 'thing' about him that makes him look different to others around him.

Although only 17 I would not be surprised at all to see Shea Lacey get some opportunities next season.

There is also Amir Ibragimov, he is younger at just 16 so still a bit to go, but a very gifted multi position forward. He really does seem a bit of a mentality monster, the joke around him being that he chews barbed wire for breakfast! he is very focussed! His elder brother is an MMA fighter and his 2 younger brothers are both at the academy as well. I am really looking forward to seeing how he develops, long way to go but finger's crossed for him.

I think most of us take more pleasure from seeing one of the academy lad's coming through and making it, like Kobbie has done, as he really has that 'he's special' look about him.

Just as importantly, he seems to be a grounded, level-headed young fella. Hopefully no dramas to come with him!

Toby Collyer is the next one.

Why does it mean no Branthwaite?

14 Jul 2024 10:16:16
It doesn't mean no to brainthwaite. It just makes Evertons resolve a little bit more. They have a valuation, we have to get to their valuation or move on. That's as simple as it is.

Better value in the market, move on surely angel?

GDS, I think because of the improved financial position Everton now find themselves in, we would probably have to pay in excess of £70m to get a deal.

Given all that has been said by the new regime about not overpaying for players and this being their first transfer window, I do not expect an offer of that size to be made.
