The club have officially announced the signing of Joshua Zirkzee.
The things we do to sell all those Z's lying around in the shirt name printing shop!
Let's hope for a long and productive stay at the club, can see him and Rasmus playing together at times as they have different skill sets which should compliment each other.

Still struggling to understand us signing another forward with potential. We needed a Kane, and we signed Hojlund. I realise money is tight, and I guess we gave to cut our cloth accordingly, but our need hasn't changed.

I have no shame in admitting that two weeks ago I'd never heard of this guy so am a little cautious. But I'd never heard of Kanchelskis, Solksjaer either, who became two of my favourite players. He looks the part and seems to have a unique skillset to complement what we have. Nice opening signing.

I don't think they need to sign experience right now. INEOS want to build for the future and they see this as the best way forward. No player signing is going to guarantee success and is a 3/ 4 window project by which time the club how Zirkzee and Hojlund are more than capable.
Another thing, can we name any experienced striker out there that is attainable?

Hear what you say, think it needs to be remembered though, that even if you have god almighty playing centre forward if he never get's the ball he won't score.
Also, transfer fees and wages for a 4 year period for Kane would still be more than Hojlund and Zirkzee together and I think that was a big part of the thinking and of course there is potentially a much longer time period of them playing for us.
The delivery to a striker MUST dramatically improve this coming season.
We will find out the answers soon enough.

We need to build a whole new squad with no money. This is a good signing and we are sticking with hoylund who has been excellent in his first year and will improve. Zirkzee offers a different player who can challenge Rasmus. We are well into a deep reset of the squad. We needed it and it is happening. We are year or two away from adding the finishing touches.

Kane is a great player, but would have cost over 100m for us to sign, been on massive wages and would potentially soon start declining.
I completely get the argument that we need someone with more experience. The problem is that we are not competing at the highest level, and we are unlikely to for 2 to 3 years. Which does not make us an attractive prospective new club to the very few elite strikers who we could sign.
Possibly the best available striker we could have got last summer would have been Ivan Toney, although he'd have cost us upwards of 60-70m and would have been banned until February.
He's a very good striker, but is a step below the elite level strikers.

I could definitely see us challenging for bigger things next season, assuming we get 3-4 top starters this season and continue to strengthen. We've seen what we can do when we're on it. If we have a much better season re: injuries and get a couple in, we can have a positive season and push for top 4 and a cup this time round. Surely that's the aim.
