De Ligt deal all agreed.
15 Jul 2024 20:30:30
Where’s this being reported?
15 Jul 2024 21:05:34
Have scoured the Web and can't find anything even suggesting it might be done?
15 Jul 2024 21:07:21
It's being reported nowhere yet.

This is probably the 4th post saying “welcome to Manchester” or something along those lines.

Romano said that he THINKS that MAYBE he POSSIBLY MIGHT sign and it COULD be in the next few hours.
Until the random dart thrower says “here we go” then it’s can’t be true!

Rumours now of United looking at Tah from Leverkusen. Reported to be the target of Bayern to replace MDL. I’m guessing this is all being done to push Bayern to agree to whatever uniteds demands are in fee and payment for MDL.

Hopefully we'll end up with at least 2 of the three we've thrown bids at although of Branth/ de Ligt/ Yoro I still see us only getting de Ligt.
Really hoping we could get some of our first choice targets, rather than ending up with the Lindelof type 4-5th choice options, but it could well be the case again.

I don't think the new owners will head down that route Spenno. If the targets aren't attainable they won't simply buy anyone.

De Ligt looks like the easiest of the deals and probably the one most likely soon. Regardless of whether we end up getting Yoro or Branthwaite it is obvious a second central defender will come in and we will just move to our next in the list.
Realistically this is what we should be doing with all areas of the team. Work on multiple deals for our top targets and be ready to switch if it is a no or price becomes too high.

Maybe not Jimbo. I'm sure there are plenty of decent options out there at our profile and pricepoint which seems to be around the £50m mark. De Ligt wasn't in the conversation until a week or two ago afterall, seems more of an opportunist development with the player. We'll be ok.

Will be plenty of rumours til someone is actually signed. It must be very hard to sign a top central defender for several reasons
1) not so many of them around
2) lots of clubs now have the owners to fund large fees so there are many buyers looking
3) the selling clubs who might traditionally been in a weak position themselves have more money so don't always have to sell at all or sell cheap
4) due to the past decade of poor performance and mismanagement Utd are no longer seen as being such an elite club by players
The platform of any title chasing team is a solid defence so it's imperative Utd buy the right players not panic buy if options diminish.
Just as important though is to get the midfield right. Spain proved once again that if you control midfield you generally end up winning matches. All the best teams have midfield players who control the tempo of a game. We have not had one since the underrated Carrick. Rather than buy another striker or winger I would be looking for those type of players who will be the heartbeat of the team.

I agree Salford. I'm not saying we should still be in for him, but I think de Jong would have made a huge difference had we got him last season. We've not had a conductor in the midfield since Scholesy.
Not sure of similar younger/ cheaper alternatives there are about.
