I don't want to put a hex on it but we seem to be picking up a lot less injuries during training this season. For years and particularly under fergie we picked up injury after injury in training.
Is there less contact in training under Jose than there was under our last 3 managers?

Agree5 Disagree0

I have it in my head that a lot of the injuries were strains and pulls, rather than impact injuries (I may be wrong) . That fits in that we do less running on the pitch now, so maybe less running in training is the reason?

Maybe Jose has identified this long running injury problem in the club and now the lazyness we exhibit is the lesser of two evils in his mind. Rather have slightly less fit players from easier training than crocked players to pick from come game time, could be his mind-set.

Others will know more than me on this though, maybe the Raconteur can tell us all?

Apparently he's stopped using the recovery machines used at carrington that were used under previous managers. Any regime that can get phil jones fit for more than a week is great.

12 Feb 2017 15:21:55
Beast,

You know the ball moves faster than a player don't you? I know you have a bee in your bonnet about lack of running but a team with less possession is always going to run less, the whole point is to get the other team on the run, I would be more worried if we were running more than others to be honest.

12 Feb 2017 15:25:38
Just before the Hull game I heard Phil Jones snuck into the locked recovery machines room as he was having withdrawal symptoms. lol.

{Ed007's Note - How many did he eat?}

12 Feb 2017 15:28:24
Are we lazy? We create as many chances as anyone and we look solid at the back maybe our manager just has us well organised so tearing all over the pitch for 90 min is unnecessary.

12 Feb 2017 15:47:12
"I have it in my head that a lot of the injuries were strains and pulls" ah the inner workings of an overstressed (and believe me, that's putting it mildly) mind. Fascinating!

no no, by all mean, go ahead and enlighten us mr. beast, I'm but merely a naive spectator. heck, all of us are in comparison to u :P

class post @GDS2.

{Ed007's Note - You never seem to offer anything constructive to any thread that I can see and just seem to appear to abuse and take digs at other posters. Nobody cares what your opinion of any poster is.
The choice of path you choose to make at this juncture in your life has now become a very important one.}

Yeah I watched the film 'GOAL' as well GDS2 taught me and Santiago Muñeza a lot. Overlapping full backs would be nice, midfield supporting wide players and striker quicker would also be nice to see. I do have a bee in my bonnet about it, but making yourself available for a pass requires movement as well, a busy team is a productive team. A static team is often a very boring team.

I posted about this on here quite a few weeks ago. There has been a change in recovery methods, notably not using the recovery machines. Without looking back on the post, back in about 2012 the machines technology suggested to SAF that Evans, Smalling and Jones would have few injuries and then they all had 6 or 7 injuries that season. Jose takes a different approach and so far it has seemed to work, but why compliment the club or Jose when the negative crew can turn a positive into something negative.

hey apologies oo7, just a bit of banter is all. don't say no one cares, you clearly do ;)

and if I could just comment on your comment, I'd say hyperbolic and it also evidently appeared to seem to look nebulous.

again, just a bit of a witty banter with a worthy adversary #beastie.

{Ed007's Note - But it's not witty banter, it's boring and nobody cares, continually comparing another poster to Donald Trump isn't banter, it's a sign that you're a moron - I need to care because I'm moderating the site but I also need to make sure the site is enjoyable for as many people as possible.
You're posts add nothing constructive or funny and if all you are doing is coming on trying to make smart arse comments to the same posters that's trolling and verging on bullying and won't be tolerated.
You're obviously not grasped the understanding of the metaphorical choice of paths you had but your choice so far isn't looking too good from where I'm standing.}

12 Feb 2017 19:10:02
Bond my ass😊😊Your sounding more like Clint Eastwood. Dirty harry esque from where I'm standing😀😀.

{Ed007's Note - It's one thing regular posters having a heated debate but alarm bells start ringing when random posters appear just to troll someone else. He'll probably have more than one account on here as well but him messing about with his IP makes no difference to Ed033 when he needs to find someone taking the piss.}

Beast. I totally agree on the fast wingers/ full backs. We don't possess these at present but I'm sure mourinho has identified this and will correct it come the summer.
If it was simple that we can just pass the ball without movement then everyone will be doing it. All top teams play with a lot of movement.
Ball moving faster than the players was a theory that worked in the 60s and 70s. These days, all players are complete athletes (apart from a few who prefer pie eating), so the team has to have movement.

Just wanted to say thank you Ed for interjecting with this guy, it's appreciated.

{Ed007's Note - No problem mate, we've seen good posters driven away from the sites and it does my nut in, not that I'm saying you're a good poster btw. There's nothing wrong with a good debate and bit of leg pulling but that guy had a previous post that he had went though your posts and counted yoiu mentioned something 39 times, I've never even went through 39 posts on an exes Facebook page!!
I'm hoping the live chat is picking up a bit too. We just want everyone to feel welcome and be allowed to have an opinion on the forum and chat although the chat can be difficult for long debates, keep the live chat quick and snappy and debate them on the forum. The live chat's meant to be light hearted fun although it's understandable if you're losing you don't want to hear about the Rabbi, the Priest and Una Stubbs.}

I wanna hear about the rabbi, the priest and Una Stubbs. What's the story?

{Ed001's Note - you have never heard the story about the rabbi, the priest and Una Stubbs? Surely everyone knows that story? It is a classic!}

Getting back to football I'm not sure what people think Valencia has been doing this season if they think he hasn't been getting up and down the wing and overlapping his winger. He has been one of our best players and constantly doing this, I must watch a different game if people are suggesting we don't have a full back that goes this.

13 Feb 2017 17:30:22
Obviously I've lived a very sheltered life ed. There's nothing about it on google so I'll have to use my imagination.

On the subject of fullbacks, I think the difference having good attacking ones makes to a team is enormous.

I hope Shaw can sort himself out 'cos when he was motoring last eason he looked the real deal and gave us an extra attacking dimension. Tony V has got a good engine but can't cross. I suppose he can always take a defender with him and create space for someone who can put a decent ball in. I think though if we want to be competing at the top top level we have to do better than Tony V as first choice.
