Watching the Leeds v West Ham game today and i was thinking I can't remember watching a match of ours in a long time that's really excited me win or lose! It's like a chore watching us at the minute and the football is so bland. Anyway watching todays game there were 2 standouts who would easily improve our starting 11 in Rice and Raphina. Every time I watch Rice he gets better he would instantly improve our midfield. I still can't understand why we don't play with a midfield 3 but maybe getting Rice would enable that add Bellingham to that and our midfield is no longer an issue! I know I'm making it sound easy but these players are attainable and should be the way forward for a club as big as ours it's quite frankly nothing short of a disgrace the amount of money we have spent and we still put out the weakest midfield in the league.

Did you not watch the Chelsea game Derby?

Chelsea, City, Lpool all far better options for Rice -if you were close to him would you advise him to join our circus?

Well Rice will be obtainable, for the £100m+ West Ham have already said they'd want :D
Where do we draw a line - if Zakaria or Haidara will cost a fraction of that maybe more astute signings are the way to go? We will need a few mids but we tend to get fleeced every time we move for someone.

i would go for 2 -3 players rather than the one, Rice is excellent but we could have success with 2-3 astute signings.

I don't think Rice will go for 100+ million. He isn't signing a new contract at WHU, the Telegraph reporter did a piece in the summer saying Rice has openly told colleagues on England duty he would leave. I beleive he will have around 16 months left on his contract in the summer, I think WHU have overplayed it a bit, only needs Rice to say I only want to go to Chelsea ( was one rumour) and his value significantly reduces.

Rice will be the midfield equivalent of slab head, massive price tag, massive pressure but average ability . we need players ala neves, and a few of them . if we keep the ball we don't need to be obsessed with ball winners . we are thinking 2 small . we are utd, dominating games is what we should be aiming for.

We no longer dominate games lol.

It's clear we don't have a midfield and a defensive midfield is needed but I worry for our club. So many managers spending so much money but we are now arguably at our lowest point in decades. Reports of in-fighting, players concerns being leaked, refusing to play or train.
Our club is in bits at the moment and I really don't know how it can be fixed. A togetherness will need to be the first thing to fix before any signings.

Rice would be an excellent signing. Great positional sense, doesn't mind getting stuck in, is better on the ball than any of our holding midfielders and has the ability to drive forward after winning the ball. He is more than head and shoulders above our midfielders.

All that being said and the fact we have interest in him, I can't see us getting even close to signing him. I reckon he ends up at City as Fernandinho's replacement and right now, if you're in his camp, why would you join United ahead of City?

Rice is better on the ball than most of your forwards.
