I don't want to put a negative on our dealings but dybala is not what the team needs.
If Ed had any sense he would sell lukaku for the money and then get the Maguire deal over the line and bring in a cm.
I'm not a fan of maguire either but that looks our most likely option.

Marathonred he may be more suited but he appears to want to stay at Juventus. If he needs to be convinced to come then he isn't the right fit. Di Maria springs to mind.

I think dybala is a great signing if it happens. Adds real quality and cutting edge that we lack on the final third. Maguire looks a certainty and if we are getting Bruno as well then that is a fantastic window for us. If pogba stays then we don’t need to add a cm. personally I would sell and bring in SMS but if real don’t want to pay the fee then there is nothing we can do. Sure there are concerns about dybala, especially coming off a poor season, but the talent is clearly there. He’s worth a punt imo.

He is a talented lad i'm not sure the epl is best for him but the people in charge they know more than you or me. in fact know more than everybody (except 1 or 2 on this site who know everything) think its a good move and i'm not going to argue with them.
This squad lacks players with tech ability and he has plenty of that. We will just have to wait and see how he does if he comes.

Dybala isn't an ideal signing, yet he is probably more suited to the style that Ole is trying to put in place. He would certainly be a better fit and if we can bring him in for a similar amount to Lukaku and on either similar or lower wages then it could be a decent deal.
However, of the areas we need to improve Dybala's signing is the lowest priority. A CB, and at least one CM, two if Pogba leaves are more important, and the club should be focused on getting those deals done first.
If we sign Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, SMS then sign Dybala with Pogba, Lukaku, Darmian, Rojo and either Jones leaving on a permanent deal or Tuanzebe on loan then that will be a great summer. However, that's a lot of players coming in over a ten day period.

Scoobydog. I’m not understanding the comparison with Di Maria? Regardless of him wanting to originally goto PSG, I still think he would have been a success at united under a different manager.
Dybala won’t move if he doesn’t want to, and if he decides the move is on, I’m sure he will be a success.
I’m with Shappy in hoping that we sign Maguire, Bruno, Dybala and SMS. we would potentially have a side to challenge again in the next couple of seasons.

That’s a fair point ken. As some of the Eds have alluded to, it may not be the best move for him. Can’t say I’m as knowledgeable as them and their track record is usually spot on. I just have a good feeling about this signing. He’s not coming into an LVG or Jose side. We are looking to play a high energy brand of football and looking to be on the front foot. There is more mobility and movement in the side compared to last year. We look a fitter side already.
We really lack that cutting edge quality against teams that sit back. Dybala provides that imo. You’re right when you say there are doubts whether he can settle in the league. It’s fast and physical, he’s struggled with the latter in Italy. But he has immense ability, a few seasons back he was tipped as the next best thing. It hasn’t worked out since then. Perhaps a change of scenery and the ability to step out of ronaldo’s shadow will see him flourish.
I agree it’s all ifs and buts. Perhaps there is no substantial evidence to my points, purely my opinion and assessment of what I see. Some have said he could be Aguero-esque for us. If he is even half that player then we have some player on our hands. He has real quality on set pieces and he fits ole’s system far better than Lukaku. I think we would be mad to pass this opportunity up. It will be interesting to see, but when a player like dybala is available, you sit up and take notice. Add Maguire and Bruno, and this is some window.

Di Maria wanted PSG but they couldn't do the deal till 12 months later. He had the option of stay an rot at Madrid or move elsewhere. So him an his agent played united fir suckers. He never wanted to be here and only wanted Paris.
Dybala is a different situation. Its not that he wants a move elsewhere. I think he wants to see where he fits in at Juve. Last season he got dropped for Ronaldo. This year its a new manager with a new style. And the club are trying to push him out for Lukaku. I'm sure he wants to stay but if Juve tell him he's got no future then he'll move. And we're the only option. I'm sure he'd give it a go.
