Don't know who Duncan Castles is but he is saying Gundogan deal to be announced shortly.

Agree2 Disagree0

For the right price he will be a great signing. United moving in the right direction by finally addressing the weaker areas.

The same guy who thinks we will go after Keylor Navas if De Gea leaves.

Hmm

I guess it is then BS. I don't even know who Keylor Navas is and don't think i have seen him play. Don't watch much of Madrid and prefer Barca and Valencia games.

Gundogan is one of the most talented all round midfielders in the world. He'd be my number one target alongside Pogba.

Prodigal7, name me one game in the last 18 months where Gundogan played like one of the best midfielders in the world? He had that ability once, but his game was heavily relient on movement, something his back injury has robbed him of. Rememebr his back injury was never fully diagnosed nor was it ever fully recovered from. He had debilitating back pain which went away after 12 months, no treatment seemed to work on it and nor was the root of the problem ever fully diagnosed. As good as he once was i wouldn't go anywhere near him. What a player once was capable of isn't always what they are capable of now.

We took a massive gamble on a player not fully recovered from injury this season in Falcao, let's not make the same mistake twice.

Couldn't agree more Shappy.

Maybe there would be a slight risk, but we would have the necessary Medicals completed to ensure he doesn't have any long term issues with his back. Gundogan himself has said he's only playing at 80% this season because he's not fully fit and back to his previous level. That should improve next season and regardless, Gundogan at 80% is better than Schweini at 100% he's that good! Even not 100% fit he's been fantastic this season.

I watched Dortmund saturday, and have to say Gundogan was quality first half. Defending high up the pitch and spreading passes in possession.

25 May 2015 18:53:12
Didn't gundogan complete 100+ passes and have a hand in all dortmunds goals in there last match?

End of the day gundogan would be a massive improvement on our midfield and I'll be buzzing if we sign him

Thats the thing though Dortmund sent him to see the worlds best doctors and back specialists, and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. So it will probably be that it will never be known what his ailmemt was. It also just got better with time.

But with little known as to what was wrong with him and no garantees that it won't come back or any sort of plan of what we could do if it does then that's a massive gamble.

If he had returned to 100% then you could argue that it could he worth the gamble. But if he himself after 2 years admits he is only about 80% fit then there is a very good chance that he'll never get back to what he was. for me that makes it a no go. We need to bring in several players this summer, we can't afford to allocate a large part of the budget on an injured player for a key position. It would he reckless to say the least.

Medical experts all over the place here.

26 May 2015 00:40:34
Its a fairly well known fact that back problems are one of the hardest muscular problems to diagnose. (Im not claiming to be an expert btw) but for that reason alone I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.

Jase

I am with you on that. I can do 115 kg on a flat bench weighing 74 kg but not allowed to do any dead lifts or squats due to a an old disk injury. It never goes away no matter how strong you feel physically and it can happen anytime again if i am not careful.
