I think Ole has taken all the criticism so far and it's now the turn of the decision makers to do him a favor and save him from further embarassment.

The board needs to swallow their pride, accept they got it wrong, thank Ole for stabilizing the club and ask him to resign.

The sooner they do is better.

{Ed014's Note - there’s no rush LPU he’s doing fine, just a little blimp on the way to his vision of the promised land.

My fear now is that they don't sack him, we win a couple and suddenly we've got another 6 months of this. There's only so long the "long term project" narrative can be spun.

Lots of rumours about Conte flying around and while he's not my first choice, there's no chance a performance like yesterday would happen under his stewardship.

I think they will hold on until the international break at least. Give them a couple of weeks to assess things, consider the options and remove those really tricky games from the fixture list before the new guy comes in. That way any new manager has a better chance of starting his reign with a win against Watford rather than a likely loss against City.

That would also give the new manager the international break to acclimates to his new surroundings.

if their hand is forced and he has to be sacked beforehand I would expect a caretaker manager until the international break.

Either way I don't see a white knight riding in and save us from potential humbling's against Spurs and City.

If any new manager that comes in would prefer to play Watford than City then he is not the right man fit the job.
City is the ideal game to start.
Sours is actually even better because it's sooner.

Ken, it's not that I think who the first game is against would impact any potential managers decision to take the job or not.

More that when Jose was sacked it was after a few "tricky" games and with a relatively easier run of games afterwards.

It's something I think the club will take into consideration. They do so much to try and keep and maintain good publicity. They won't want to dampen down the good feelings and hope of a new manager with a loss in their first game. Just like with the timing of signings nor at least the announcements of them the club do everything possible to maintain good publicity.

As the club, at least currently, haven't sounded out any potential replacements then it's safe to assume that it would take at least a week, from scouting and considering potential candidates, to sounding them out, to talks and deals put in place for the manager and any additional coaching staff they would want to bring, plus potential visas agreed and sorted in this post Brexit world. All needing to be done before any manager could take charge of training and start implementing their style and having an impact on the squad.

We have Spurs in 5 days time, so too soon for that. Then on Tuesday we play away in Italy against Atalanta, meaning any new manager would need to come in then immediately travel with the team for a key tricky UCL game. Then fly back and play City 4 days later.

If they were hired and ready to start the day after the Spurs game they will have Sunday and Monday before their first game. Neither will be a full day of training. Then they will play a game, have travel and a day of rest, at best 2 full days training then a game against City.

Meaning any new manager will have two key games and at best two days of full training to prepare for them, along with having to travel to Italy and back. Which is a bit of a baptism of fire.

That's why I think the club will wait until the international break for the change to happen, so they can have at least a week with half the squad and to acclimatise before they have to play any matches. It just makes sense.

Shappy, as you say it is a tricky position to be in with the games coming up.

If Ole gets the sack soon and any new manager shows the willingness to take over he would be a brave man to do so.

It's not going to be easy either way.
