Did anyone else see the league table of most shirts sold in the last year? United were well out in front followed by Real Madrid and Barcelona. I was surprised to see who was 4th though - Chelsea. It kind of shows how many glory hunters there are out there, a few years of success and they sell more shits than all bar 3 of the most people ecognisiable teams in the world. Liverpool and Arsenal were also in the top 10 meaning the EPL has 4 teams in the top 10.

{Ed007's Note - Where would Utd be without the so called glory hunters they've picked up over the years? Would Utd have as many worldwide supports if they weren't dominating during the 90s etc? Chelsea have won leagues and a CL now, spent huge sums on the team so is every Utd supporter that started supporting Utd in the 90's a glory hunter too?
Utd have built up their history over a number of years, now Chelsea, City and the likes are doing the same, making their own history. Would Utd still sell the most shirts and bring in the same level of advertising etc if they don't win the league for the next say 20 years? Kids growing up, in foreign countries especially, will choose to support whoever's successful when they reach the age to decide unless there's a family connection and even that won't be as strong as in the UK I don't think.
You're calling a kid aged 5 or 6 deciding Chelsea is his team because they win the league this year making him a lifelong fan is just a glory hunter. What about youngsters that became Utd fans after the Treble in '99, are they still classed as glory hunters after all this time?}

Someone get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning. or maybe just the wrong bed😀😀.

{Ed007's Note - It's true though, Ken.}

I agree with Ed. Liverpool have so many fans because of there success, same with Arsenal, Chelsea, and City are having there turn.

{Ed007's Note - That's all it is, who can say that in 20 years time City have another 6/7 titles and maybe one or 2 CLs under their belt and are packing their stadium as more and more youngsters chose them as their team.}

Bond I coach a lot of kids football here in Ireland 10 years ago you only saw 3 jerseys in the main. Utd Liverpool and Celtic. Now you see Barcelona and Madrid, psg Chelsea and a few arsenal. Thankfully still no rangers over here😊
Good marketing and accessibility to see these teams and now that football gear is a fashion accessory instead of just match day or training gear has changed the landscape.

{Ed007's Note - Ed007's Note - I remember when you seen people walking about Scotland with Blackburn and Newcastle strips when they were challenging, now it's like you say Barca and Madrid etc. and a fashion accessory.
There's no Rangers over here either - they went bust and are being liquidated :-D

Bond, that was my poInt. Some clubs have long histories, whether it be Munich, European Cup, sustained success but I was surprised that after recent success (sustained) Chelsea outsell every club in the world bar 3. And I agree, if City win a few more they will see their support and commenrcial revenues increase. We have more than our fair share of them as does every successful club but I was still surprised to see Chelsea 4th.

{Ed007's Note - Oh right, sorry if I went off at a tangent there buddy. When you say it like that I get what you mean, you'd think huge teams like your Bayern Munichs, Juventus *cough* and Celtic *cough* would shift more than Chelsea. A lot of it is down to the worldwide audience of the EPL and that's why there's 4 EPL teams in the top 10, but it also shows how recent success attracts more newbie supporters/shirt sales when Chelsea outsell a team with Liverpool's history.
I don't like using the term glory-hunter unless it's deserved, like a 25 year old deciding to stop following Fulham and buying a season ticket at Chelsea.
I've got a cheek right enough, I don't get to many games at all now but if Celtic were away and I wasn't going I used to nip down the road to watch Accies and done a pure John Terry when they won promotion one year, steaming out my wig out on the park celebrating with fans and players lol. I'm an Accies glory hunter - now I just need a half n half scarf lol}

Don't get me started on half and half scarves. I rarely get to games nowadays but a mate lent me his season ticket tikcet for the LIverpool game and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. On a similar subject I believe what I was hearing inside the ground either. There are some very sick people, the chanting was indefensible.

15 years ago, there were no Chelsea or City shirts. The fact they've bought their success with rich owners wrankles on some people. United Liverpool and arsenal are more traditional in the fact that they've always had a bigger fan base.
Having said all that, if a trillionaire wants to buy United and bring in Messi Ronaldo Neymar and add modric and iniesta in there, then I'll be delighted.

{Ed007's Note - We had the surge of City shirts from the Oasis hardcore fan(nnie)s, loved their music and not give a **** attitude but I could never have wore a City shirt. One of my mates to this day denies it and there's a pic of him with the floppy, the wee specs and I'm sure it's a Brothers City top and he stonewall denies it's him.
Good job they Gallagher's redeemed themselves with some of the things they said in interviews and being up at Celtic wearing the Hoops and colours.}

I'm impressed that they can sell shits tbh. I thought our marketing department were doing well.
