There has been a lot of talk about Griezmann who is a player I rate very highly, but for the way Mourinho plays and to fit with what we are building towards for me Harry Kane would be a much better fit.

Mourinho likes to have a target man up front, someone who can hold up the ball and bring others into play while also able to creat chances for themselves.

At Inter when he had Eto'o at his disposal he often played him out wide with Diego Milito playing as the central striker.

For that reason I don't think he would play Griezmann as a central striker, I think he would play him either wide or in the No.10 role just off the central striker.

Its why I don't think he likes playing Rashford or Martial upfront and possibly why Martial may be on his way out.

If Mourinho was to sign Griezmann then his best position is off the main striker, which impedes Pogba, so to get the best out of Pogba then Greizmann would be pushed out wide, which means you don't get the best out of him there.

If we are to spend big money on a forward player, for me Kane would make much more sense than Griezmann.

I would love Kane at the club. But Rashford is 6' 3" and in a few more years he'll fill out a bit more and could be the player you want.

Rashford is 5'11, and probably won't break 6'0. He could bulk up but that would slow him down, and his pace is one of his biggest assets.

He could learn to be better with his back to goal, but Mourinho hasn't shown an awful lot of faith in him as a central striker atm. And I don't see him changing his view much either. Eto'o was hardly a small weak striker, and he was one of the worlds best and even he was shunted out wide by Mourinho in favour of someone stronger and better with his back to goal.

Kane would be a fantastic fit. Slot straight into the CF position. But I still think adding griezmann as a no.10 would be incredible. Miki on right, martial/ rash on left.

But I somehow doubt we would be able to sign the 2.

I actually think ibra might leave at the end of this season.

I said similar a couple of days ago, Costa against Liverpool showed what a dangerous menacing forward can do.

I am yet to be completely convinced by Kane, (perhaps I have never got over the arrival of a much hyped Gary Birtles) and am not sure about his pace.

If we are looking for a forward theoretically I wouldn't mind Aguero if City are selling (I know I know, I can't see them selling to us) . Every time I have seen him he is lethal and at the time City bought him expressed frustration that SAF ignored him.

IMO Martial is our future CF and i find it hard to believe he is not getting a run in The team. I like Rashford but Martial is a better player for me. Would like to see Mata, Mick, Martial playing behind Ibra. The only reason i have Ibra in there is because jose will not drop him although i think he needs to be dropped as he seems to be struggling by his lack of work rate.

I don't blame him as the man is 35 and probably has never played this many games already in one season in a bruising league like the PL.

Shahram, I don't think Mourinho sees Martial as our future centre forward, I'm not even sure Mourinho sees Martial as our future anything.

Its a shame as I really like the kid, he gives off the aura like something is going to happen when he's on the ball. He lacks a consistent end product and he isn't dilligent in his defensive duties.

He needs to work on BOTH these things or he will struggle to fullfil his potential. I get the feeling he isn't happy about having to track back and do his bit defensively because he sees himself as a striker and not a wide player. Maybe he doesn't feel that is part of his game he needs to develop.

Ultimately I don't know. But I know that unless he does as Mourinho asks he won't have a very long career here.

Mourinho obviously sees something in him, he has kept giving him chances after all, something Memphis would argue not all players get.

The rest is down to him now.

I agree that rash and martial aren't jose type cf .
You have wonder what's going on with jose when it comes to the younger players.
I think martial could well be forced out or leave a bit like lukaka and de bruyne.
Not all young lads make it but the talent of them 3 is there for all to see.

Harry Kane, like Rushford will never be an elite player. He is good and he does very well but he's a cut below Griezmann.

What you've suggested there is the equivalent of having a steak offered to you but then going out for McDonals.

Griezmann, Neymar and Suarez are the only players capable of holding a light to Messi and Ronaldo.

Kane can yet hold a candle to the likes of Sheringham or Rooney.

I'm perplexed too jred. I thought martial was doing fine, a lot better if not just as good as others in the squad. It seems funny to me. Maybe Jose feels he will get the best out of him this way i.e miki. got to trust that it will work and the tough love will be justified.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

05 Feb 2017 18:58:13
Not working hard enough defensively, over 90 minutes he averages between 1-3km covered less than the likes of Mata, Mkhitaryan, Rooney, Rashford and Lingard.

In fact he's only covering 0.3km on average more than Ibrahimovic.

Until he starts putting a shift in he will struggle to win over Jose.

Also I don't think it helps when his people keep leaking things to the press, like the link to Sevilla and this morning about his concerns Jose is trying to push him out.

That article this morning may have been what kept him on the bench today.

05 Feb 2017 19:42:23
A few month ago everyone had miki down as leaving, he was left out for 2 month .
Martial has been left out for 2 games, not everything results in a player being sold .

05 Feb 2017 19:47:20
Pressed send early then .

With a bit of luck shaw and martial are still at the club next season and don't take the lukaka or de bruyne route.

05 Feb 2017 20:41:41
I hope so too jred, I am hopeful as Jose keeps giving them chances unlike Depay, Young or Schneiderlin.

He obviously sees something in them and is trying to coax it out of them, its down to them how hard they want to fight for it.

The talents there, but unless you have an appitite for the fight then Jose isn't going to stick with them forever.

If they leave its because they aren't prepared to fight for their place and work hard on developing themselves.

I hope they stay and fullfill their obvious potential, but if they don't I have faith in Jose to see us right.

People mention Lukaku and De Bruyne because they left Chelsea and went on to become top players, yet at the time they were sold they weren't top players, and Chelsea made a good amount of money from their sales. Maybe it was the bump back down to reality they gave them the fight a desire to get where they are now.

From what Jose has said about inserting a buy back clause in Depay's deal so the club can keep track of its talent. That maybe Jose is hoping the same bump down could help Depay kick on and realise what he needs to do.

Bit of tough love never hurt anyone jred. Hopefully both players come back stronger from it.
