Well it was this nonsense from the press that Sir Alex used to create a us against the world mentality during his time.
Now for the first time we have a manager who motivates in a similar us against the world mentality. I think the press are playing right into Jose's plans when they say stuff like this, I'd imagine he is using it with the players at Carrington.
I laugh as they come out with the same guff everytime. If we win on Monday I can guarentee they use at least on of these three excuses if not all three.
1, Liverpool had an off day.
2, United had all the luck.
3, United are the bigger team and are expected to win against the underdogs in Liverpool. (Normally said through gritted teeth with a cold sad look in thier eyes. Lol) .
Of course they got their excuses in early by blaming the Ref before he has even stepped onto the field.

Milner is a decent player, a poor man's John O'Shea, but to put him ahead of Shaw and Blind after playing a handful of games at lb is just showing up Thompson's sheer footballing ignorance. How some of these ex-players have careers in the media should be a constant source of national shame.

TBH O'Shea wasn't all that. His first season was his best season. Apart from that he was ok.
Having said that at least Milner new web tot quit international football ;)

Phil Thompson and mark lawrenson are both idiots. But the fact is that scousers are playing very well and we're not. So they go into the fixture as favourites. If they play like they've been playing and if we play our usual 2 in midfield at a pedestrian pace, then I can see an embarrassing scoreline.
I am not looking forward to this game.

Schmid the game will be won and lost in the wide areas. Both teams rely heavily on the influence of thier full backs and that will be the key to either team winning.

Maze. I actually think they're much stronger in midfield as they play with three. My worry is mourinho goes in with a midfield of two. If that happens, then we're in trouble. I'll go with Carrick hererra and pogba. I'll also play Mata and Zlatan behind rashford. I think Zlatan can do a very good job behind the. main striker. He's done it all his career.

Schmid the thing in this game for Zlatan is he must contribute a lot more than he has been. Yes he has an eye for goal but at times the team are playing with 10 men and expending twice the energy to accommodate him.
This Liverpool team are very fit and Klopp has them playing explosively for 90 minutes. The last thing United need is to fall into a trap where they get over run in the last 20 minutes. Zlatan likes the big games so hopefully he can't put himself about between Lovren and Matip in order to help his team mates out.

Agrees maze. Problem is Zlatan has always been static. Our attack is static as a result. In the French league, he can stand there and the ball will come his way. In the PL, this will not happen as the speed of play is faster and the defenders much better.
When mkhitaryan is fit I would like to see a front three of rashford martial Mata/ lingard with mkhitaryan playing in the hole.

I'm not massively impressed with Zlatan so far. Clearly he is class and has scored a few but he doesn't seem to be fully up to speed. Unless of course this is him at full speed which is more worryIng.
