Bit disappointed with tonight. Ok their goal was from an offside position, just, but it was one of our only attempts at a high line and it didn't work for us tonight.
Was happy with Darmian, Herrera and a good season debut for smalling. However most of the other players just weren't at the races. Was very dissapointed not to see carrick start, think the game was made for him or even schweinsteiger. A bit of composure from the back was missing and without blind our CB just don't have it in them it seems. Schneiderlin always seemed to be too deep and too slow on the ball.
Mata and martial really need to up their game, were both offering more than Memphis and young, but still below par.
Looking back zlatan should have started as rashford seemed to be too eager to impress and spent a lot of time over complicating things, similarly pogba.
Still think we need a composed CB and strong holding midfielder and a right sided player.
Still very early days for this side and seriously think we will finish strong in the league and get a cup win but teams seem to be playing on our obvious deficiencies and we seem to lack a plan b to overcome them as of yet.

I still have no idea why we bought schneiderlin. There were people asking on this page for him to be signed. I still don't get it but we've bought him now anyway and I think he's been a passenger since he's been at the club. We actually don't have a proper cdm at the club and we play with 2 at the moment (with 1 going forward) .
You can argue Carrick and maybe blind are bup not one I consider. This might be the reason Jose is playing with 2. Being linked in the press again today with Carvalho makes sense. I think we need 1 proper cdm and 2 cm getting forward either side, pogba +1 in a starting 11.
What was surprising to me was how the feyenoord side only got 1 yellow today. The refereeing is poor in the Europea league, Rushford was constantly fouled by the same defender when he was on, and I lost count of the amount of reducer fouls committed and fouls by El Ahmadi.

Totally agree Supasub with regards schneiderlin. I don't rate him at all.

Decisons for/ against are part and parcel of the game. i'm a firm believer of if we were to win the decision against shouldn't matter. We didn't deserve to win end of. i know we played players that haven't played a lot this season but nobody showed why they shoukd be playing next game. #minutesdontmatteryourbadgedoesnotyourwages.

I am one of those who was delighted when we bought schneiderlin - I thought he was excellent for Southampton and could step up- we beat Arsenal and Spurs to him - but yes, he looks very poor til now.
Again, I thought the players on the fringes would improve under JM -Schneiderlin hasn't on what little we ve seen, nor has Depay .
It was a very LVG performance, slow, woeful passing, very few chances created against a very very average team .
Keep saying it but on paper we look excellent, but will it gel that's the question?

I think Carrick will be perfect partner for pogba. Carrick reads the game very well. Pogba needs experience near him.
Hererra looks lost and keeps passing the ball backwards.
Schneiderlin I've never liked and don't know what he brings to the team.
Martial needs to discover his form quickly. He looks disinterested.

I expected players like Depay and Schneiderlin to improve under Jose as well, but I'm not naive enough to think it would happen immediately, in their first game of the season. Are we really judging their chances of improving under Jose after one game?

Mental stuff Stevie. Half the team haven't kicked a ball all season. Not sure what people expected. Patience is required not armchair knee-jerk analysis from amateurs.

No, i'm personally not judging after 1 game - what I am judging though is a professional footballers ability to pass a ball to someone wearing the same coloured shirt -
As for Depay, its a mystery a bit like Torres going to Chelsea.
The goal is the same size in Holland as in UK or Spain or carrington or wherever - just taking one aspect of Depays game here . his shooting . why can't he hit the target? He scored goal after goal in NL from set pieces . have you seen him hit more than 3 free kicks on target from 20 or more he has taken at OT? Is it because its his first game of the season, is that why the one free kick he curled into the area in the 91 st minute went 15 feet wide and 20 feet ovr the bar? what's he doing then in training?
I would be the happiest fella going if these fringe players showed what they can do, but Schneiderlin (who i was delighted to get) and Depay look like its too big a step up for them .

Ken an stevie bang on there were quite a few out there yesterday where it was thier first kick this season the whole thing is going to take time I'm afraid were just going to have to be patient.
