Leaked Depay terms

100k a week and On top of this he gets £20,000 for every start, £10,000 for every substitute appearance, and £250,000 for 20 starts in a season – which doubles if he gets to 40.

I think we should save ourselves the money and send him to reserves. taking the piss here and whoever signed that deal is incompetent.

I know people will say its not our money but there is a level of responsibility at business and football clubs included. Every club has leaders in the football business end and how they conduct business can benefit the club for years or or put you in a hole for years. Woodward is incompetent IMO.

We will not be the first club or the last that will get ourselves into a terrible position for stupid deals and crazy wages.

Agree1 Disagree1

And if he had turned out be to amazing in his first year things wouldn't look too clumsy.

Chris

We were stuck with guys like Nani, Cleverly, Anderson for years as no one would buy them due to their wages. It is a concern that's all. I still do not believe he will come good an time will tell, forget his defensive issues he does nothing for me offensively and so one dimensional. He will end up in Italy IMO.

We are not a bottomless pit as people want to believe and signing guys like him Bastian at 275k a week is just odd business. The question people should be asking is who else we could have spend that sort of money on in last years window and would we be better off as a club in terms of performance as neither has contributes much IMO.

Appearance fee's and sub fee's are normal in most sports. His weekly wage is not decided by him, the club were happy to offer and sign the deal.

Why do people get so emotive about the money? The market dictated player fee's etc not the player. The club is not a club in the traditional use of the term it's a business. You support a team, a team of fixed term contracted players. The club is actually a business, we are literally the greatest customers on earth as supporters (customers) have such a high emotional connection with the business.

Do you care about any other company the way you care about Man Utd Plc? I suspect not.

Yet we are still making a profit every year, it's like the owners and money men actually know what they are doing isn't it?

04 Apr 2016 16:26:00
Well it's all well and good sitting here after a poor season saying we shouldn't have wasted money on Memphis or Bastian. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I honestly don't care about anyone's wages. Take Shaw for example. Reports would tell you that he's on similar money to Memphis. Shaw turned up last year unfit and overweight. Has a pretty woeful year but no one has a pop at him. Is it because he's English? He has no tattoos? He doesn't make videos wearing stupid hats?

I know you'll say someone on 100 grand a week doesn't deserve any time to find their feet but there are a lot things to take into account. He played in an inferior league where he was the king. The step up to the Premier League takes some players time. Ed002 said he wasn't ready this year and he was spot on. We have a manager who literally sucks the life from flare players. Instead of being free to roam and attack and play his natural game, he's told to be more worried about their wingers then they should be about him.
If you think I'm absolving him of this poor season I'm not. He hasn't been up to it and the fact his few decent games this year have come against weak opposition shows you he's just not ready yet. I know your main beef is with the club for signing him on those wages but that's probably the going rate for a youngish player with immense potential.
Dyou not think the lad deserves at least another season to come good? Maybe with a different manager? Dyou not see potential in him?

I really have no interest in all these 'leaked' contracts. Who cares what the club pay, they must know what they are doing and what they can afford.

Having said that, the bubble must burst at some point with these ludicrous wages.

04 Apr 2016 16:35:03
It's quite that these young men have no grasp of the realities facing most people. If we do a crap job we get fired and struggle to find work, this lot just find another club and continue raking it in. Natter natively most f them could simply retire after a couple of years.

I have no issue with what they earn but I do get hacked off with the behaviour of some of them off the pitch. As for on the pitch, anyone calls for, but 1 or 2 do seem not to care as much as they should.

04 Apr 2016 16:00:19
I'm not in any way defending it mate, just if it turned out Martial was on same deal many wouldn't be so upset I'm guessing.

04 Apr 2016 17:21:00
They should all be on £10k a week then paid performance related bonuses. It would stop players joining teams just to sit on the bench and make mega money and it will ensure players perform to their optimum ability.

Maybe even introduce this rule for anyone under 25, so it stops money ruining a lot of players before they have accomplished anything of note.

The excess money saved should then be spent on subsidising youth teams, local teams, ticket prices etc. Not going back into the owners pockets directly. let's face it we would all rather the players earn the money if it were a choice between player and shareholder, so there has to be a third option.

04 Apr 2016 17:31:50
Not saying I agree but isn't that about the going rate for a £30m signing?

Money in football is bonkers but then that's only because we all love it.

05 Apr 2016 04:09:27
Dellafou went for 4 million and no 30 mill is not the going rate. Take a look at juve who should have knocked bayern out and see how they spend money and assemble a team. The portuguese clubs and the spanish sides with the exception of the big 2 do it very well. If you are going to invest on potential there are many out there that come cheaper and if does not work out you are not stuck with someone who no one wants because of his wages.

05 Apr 2016 08:33:28
X Files what are you talking about mate? Doesn't matter what he is getting paid and how he is performing, he is Memphis Depay and because he is young and has nice boots and a super nice Rolls Royce he can do no wrong.

05 Apr 2016 08:47:39
De gea started badly but turned out to be awesome, let's give Memphis the benefit of this year.

05 Apr 2016 12:29:59
Dak

Does DDG personality and approach to things in anyway resemble Depay's?

I will give him 2 years but still maintain we will end up selling him. Nani was better when he came over.
