remember boys lvg can do no wrong.

some good players in this team they have just forgot how to attack, once they remember we will be fine .

or plan B : if they don't remember how to attack just continue to play the same tactics but spend 150 mil on players that still rember how to attack.

its that simple.
by the way i though p scholes hit the nail on the head, but what does he know just another bitter ex player.

Hey welcome back Jred.

Reality check i guess for many, one bad game is non event, a few are a bad streak/slump as they say, This many is a structural issue.

I do hope we smash CSK tonight and calm the nerves.

03 Nov 2015 11:11:33
jred, regardless of the performances and evidence some people will continue to back LVG. What can you say when after 16 months and over £200 million in new players, we are still waiting for the team to click and for the philosophy to work its magic.

This is the manager who promised a title after three seasons, and we can barely manage more than a single shot on target in some games. The new mantra from blinkered LVG supporters is that we're hard to beat. Really? Is that what it has come to? Celebrating the fact that we're holding teams to scoreless draws without ever troubling their keepers'?

03 Nov 2015 11:13:23
The problem with Plan B Jred is that after 6 weeks of "coaching" those new players will have forgotten how to attack.

Some people think that because somebody was successful once they can keep turning on that gene - you can't more often than not. All you do is rehash the old formula.

Were any of you the same 10 or 20 years ago? 10 years ago I took chances and tried things I would cringe at now in my work and I'm in my 30's. LVG is retirement age, mobile phones barely existed when he was in his prime. The world moves on quicker for people of LVG's age when it comes to the fast paced world of football management. There probably isn't a sport that matches it for tactical advancement and continuous adaptations - it's a young man's game now in the most part.

Why do you think top managers like Pep and Klopp take breaks from the game after they have left a club? They need to re-energise and re-think their strategies, probably why Ancelotti hasn't walked into another job straight away as well.

Competitors have copied and improved on LVG's ideas, you evolve or die especially in football and you can't be stubborn because it eventually catches up with you when competitors identify the weakness. LVG is still playing on his PS1, the clubs that can afford it are now playing on their PS4's.

i stand by my statement "we will do ok this season but it won't be pretty"
is that good enough for united .

there where a couple of journos talking about lvg and there point was united didn't know what they where getting, they thought it was the manager that in was in charge of barcelona 16 year ago.
not the one whos teams had been playing boring football for 15 year.

should we buy another 11 players or get a decent manager ?
this would look a different team under klopp.
but maybe i'm biased, i wasnt an lvg fan from the start.

03 Nov 2015 11:24:32
Jred you will be locked up for spouting such sensible statements. Stop it before the Van Gaal Gestapo reprimand you!

03 Nov 2015 11:34:39
Haha look at the 4 people that replied jred, think that says it all!

03 Nov 2015 11:35:20
beast
do u mean if we buy more players they might forget how to attack as well .

i watched leicester at the week end they could of scored 10.
they must have better players.
vardy must be the best striker in the world, we should maybe pay 60 mill for him that would sort us out .
or maybe ranieri would be a better buy?

03 Nov 2015 11:45:24
Jred

I was also in the camp that we would finish top 3 but now nothing will surprise me. This is a beyond comprehension for me personally and I am quite worried that things might even get worse as we are playing like this with no real injuries and a full squad to choose from except shaw.

I wonder what will happen if Smalling, Martial, DDG god forbid get a long term injury. Almost feels like we need to go to a 442 or 433 set up to get out of this slump.

what if its just a case that them 4 have a point .

some times it better to read the post and not the name pal.

many people thought moyes was the the right man for the job.
others never from the start .
who was right.

Did not take you long to come out galloping, I have this image of you dressed up like a knight with LVG colours (orange and brown for pooh that is) , sword drawn on a white horse (sorry brown horse again) to put down the resistance and trouble makers lol.

03 Nov 2015 12:29:06
Just made me laugh who replied that's all fellas keep your knickers on, as said below it seems there are certain people waiting for a post like this to dive in and this post got a full house and made me laugh.

GCU,

You clearly don't read my posts if you think that, I can see all the issues you lot can see, I'm not an idiot, I have made my point and said what I think I just don't choose to repeat it 300 times like some others.

As jred said, of course all 4 of you have a point, when we are playing like we are we will get this point over and over until something changes and it goes back the other way. Playing badly and winning is not good enough for Manchester United, playing badly and not winning is an absolute no no, things must improve, I am just not in the 'sack the manager and all will be ok' camp.

Bear in mind Beast wanted the manager sacked within 3 weeks of him being appointed and it was stated by many of the above that we wouldn't finish top 4 last season then you can see why my opinion might be a bit different on certain things.

03 Nov 2015 12:57:21
'Look at the four who replied'

GDS2 rather than making a sarcastic comment as if to say our opinions on the subject are irrelevant why not discuss United? Oh because you would rather take little pot shots at others.

03 Nov 2015 13:02:58
GDS2

So what you like to discuss?

Just like when we win and play well people discuss the merits of the good things, so it is natural for people to discuss current events and issues which is not so great at the moment.

It has nothing to do with people wanting to jump on a bad spell hopefully. some do genuinely believe this is not the right guy for the club and on current performance have a valid argument and some belief he is but hard to make that argument at the moment.

I am in the camp that we should make a change at the end of the season and should have Ancelloti or Guardiola signed and sealed. The only thing that would change my mind in doing in earlier is if come new year we are looking up at top 4 with no visible improvements in our performance, then you need to pull the plug on him and save the season.

Remember i said before the season started i will want to see where we are after 15 games and that has not changed.

03 Nov 2015 13:05:14
Gds is playing posters bingo. Full house.

03 Nov 2015 13:19:11
I agree with gcu there. I'm between camps as in the short term things aren't good enough but I can see the long term vision and have patience.

03 Nov 2015 14:01:19
JMB,

My post had 2 paragraphs about football you could have replied to, it isn't my fault you chose to take offence to what you can see yourself was a 'sarcastic' comment.

GCU,

I pretty much agree with everything you just said, but that isn't how you come across in most of your posts. I have said many times I don't think LVG is the long term right guy for the club but I don't think in the short term he is doing that bad of a job, there are just a few things that need to improve to go from it being terrible to pretty good, as we saw from the Everton game, we can actually do it, just not often enough.

03 Nov 2015 15:26:25
You lot are ruining this site with petty argument, name calling and sarcastic comments. Pipe down.

03 Nov 2015 17:39:08
Jred - Yes mate, I think any natural attacking player will be stifled by this manager. So we can keep chucking money at the next "wonderkid" or Ex-Galactico and it will eventually result in the same thing. If I were a CB then I would sign for LVG over any other manager, however a Striker or Winger should steer well clear.

Hopefully he will sign Stones, I think he will do exceptionally well under LVG in particular.

03 Nov 2015 18:02:19

i have been trying to make the same point for a while.

I am an extremely practical and laid back guy in everything I do and maybe not articulating my posts like some.

I think people are using a double standard with this manager when compared to the previous manager. I think this guys job was made a ton easier after our terrible season in 2013 but he is not delivering given what we have spent and the time he has been afforded.

I would have said the same for Moyes or anyone else if he had spent the type of money and given them the time that Lvg has been given. people hated Moyes because he came with a reputation of being defensive and not playing to win and we are suddenly okay with LVG going to even more extremes in playing even more defensively.

Since when have we awarded a manager for being defensive and practiced defending in numbers and scared to go forward.

None of the top teams in Europe play that way and if we aspire to be back amongst the Madrid, Barcelona and Munich of this world, this is not a direction I want. Teams don't fear defensive units, they fear teams who can cut you open.

Btw if we ended with Guardiola or Ancelloti and gave them 250 million to spend and 18 moths later were playing like we are, i would want them gone too.

Think about it does leicester, west ham, Southhampton have better players than us or pay their players better than we do or a better manager (both have new managers btw) . I enjoy watching them and know they will most likely not make top 4 team but i reckon that is a bigger achievement for those players and the managers ending in top 8 at the seasons end than us crawling our way to 4th place with ugly football.

Finally you mention the Everton but that that looks like a one off mate as the majority of the other games have been so underwhelming even when we have won.

I think if DDG had gone to Madrid we would be 4 or 5 points worse mate and in complete crisis mode. I might be wrong and tonight at home a must win game in the perfect stage for the manager to make a statement.

We have a very good squad and i stand by that but this philosophy and style of play is not bringing out the best in these guys.

Finally Just saw the line up and don't like it and i think the professor is back at it, playing a host of players out of position and asking them to do things that is natural.

Hope I am wrong but expect substitutions at half time and if he does he must lead the league in subs at half time, which is the sign he gets it wrong more often than most.
