So regards transfers in January what do people think should happen.

I think we need cover at the back, a must.
We should also look at rw. Mata is doing well, but could possibly be better equipped to play number 10, especially given Rooney's form, and it would be a great to have some pace ready to come off the bench if we needed to stretch teams.
So one player, maybe two depending on who's available.

In January I think we need a centre back and possibly a striker. With Rooney's form we are an injury to Martial away from struggling.
We could do with better cover in the full back positions and more options out wide but those positions could wait until next summer imo.

The squad is in good shape, but areas are lacking.
Starting from back to front.
Right back is an issue - a bigger issue than left back. Darmian is undisputed first choice, but Valencia in my opinion is a poor backup who doesn't understand the position. We get caught out time and time again by him not stepping up at the right time etc.
Blind is doing well but isn't a centre back. We need a natural centre back playing there, but one that has his vision because his vision goes unnoticed and is excellent.
For the first time ever centre midfield is fine haha.
We need a right winger for sure. Mata is playing brilliantly but is essentially playing as a number 10, he is always inside. So I'd play Mata behind Martial and have a new right winger - therefore dropping Rooney.
That amount of players won't happen part way through the season.
But I'd like to see Garay, an understudy right back who can play left back and Felipe Anderson come in with Wilson, Lingard etc getting more game time. Then hopefully Januzaj comes back next year a more ready player and we need very little.

Personally I would be disappointed if we replaced blind with a new cb, we would seriously miss his passing ability and he's only going to improve the more he plays at cb.

Was just going to post the same . I don't see too many centre backs out there who can pass the ball like Blind
{Ed004's Note - Ideally we could find cover for the right back and left back position but I have no idea who we could get there so I think we will stick with what we have got. If we can persuade a top cb to join I would be all for it but it's highly unlikely to happen mid season. Ideally we would go for Laporte who would gradually take over from Blind}

2 CB's that are not made of glass would be nice + a young RB (for Ronnie) as Darmian's backup.

Ed004, what do you think about our attacking play. Move Mata to #10 and drop Rooney, bring in a new right sided attacker? That is what I would do.
{Ed004's Note - Nothing in January as no top players would be available. I think mata is playing brilliantly were he is. Ideally someone like Griezmann to replace Rooney as he can play in behind the striker and drift wide right when Mata cuts inside}

Javi martinez for me at lcb (although it won't happen), left footed mainly and can step into midfield, pass etc. Also a striker who can also play rw and is versatile. Muller again a bayern player for me although it won't happen. That way if Rooney is fazed out or played less you could pick anyone of Mata, Herrera, perreira, martial or muller to play as a no.10 / behind striker, if that's what was required in a formation. Maybe Varela might be adequate cover at rb. Maybe Blackett at LB if he progress's.

Ed004 don't get me started on griezmann, if we somehow managed to get him, can you imagine the havoc a front four of depay, griezmann, Mata and martial would cause.
{Ed004's Note - It would be a very exciting front four IMO. The starting 11 would only be missing a top cb IMO as long as De Gea stays}

Ok ed maybe he is but he seems to play lcb I suppose because of boateng. Same as Garay then who tends to play lcb but a bit more right footed who I would also take.

Debruyne went for more than double of what Draxer went for mate. Best number 10 is Hakan but reckon Madrid will grab him next year,
Griezeman is not a number 10 for me and a winger. like most wingers good in an open style game when he is allowed space but will struggle when not afforded space. Draxler has more talent if he can stay healthy.
In a 433 he would be quite handy on the right hand side.
