I wish people would stop calling LVG's critics "Naïve" because they expected him to do well from the get-go. There are countless managers that come into a team and have them playing well, they also don't have the luxury of having the financial and technical resources of Man Utd or the existing squad. Didn't we sign him because of his experience and the assumption he would not take a season to understand how a club like Utd works and what we expect? Most managers would do well given a season free pass, we couldn't even give that to Moyes.
Maybe replace "naïve" with "demanding", which is fair. Whilst it wasn't an easy job it certainly wasn't as hard as what he has made it look. LVG has worked some magic in turning a small problem into a serious one and then just turning it back into a small one again, all the while making many of our fans think he has done well. It's the equivalent of walking dog muck through your house and then expecting praise because you cleaned it up. We needed a new carpet, not a mop and bucket!
Exactly what has he done well this season? Learnt how to use Fellaini, got the best out of some of our mediocre players and barely managed to get top 4 with the worst I have seen our competitors in years.
I remain unconvinced, and I certainly am not "naïve" to have expected a lot better!

Although, when Fellaini has been our best player, do we have the players to blame?
Our defence seemingly cannot defend and we have a right winger - who might I add can't seem to beat his man on attack - playing right back for us. Our left back is always bloody injured, with a slow Blind as back-up. Our centre backs just haven't worked out who the main man is yet.
We played a striker in centre-mid for most of the season, we have a £60m player who hasn't yet adapted and nobody could have forseen how sh*te Falcao and RVP have been this season.
Our main problem is we haven't yet found our best startingg eleven.
These things take time Beast, we have been blessed over the last 28 years of having a structured back-bone to the team, the majority of which we have now lost. Players came were signed and came into an already formed hierarchy from the dressing room, to the pitch and also backroom staff. We don't have that privelege now, and it will take time for things to get back up and running to how we are used to them.
You, Beast, cannot say that you are any less happy right now than you were last season. Give the manager time, and no we didn't allow Moyes time, but every blind man and his dog could have told you that it was never going to work.
Moyes walked into Manchester United on the first day and thought to himself "this is a massive job", where-as LVG walked in and thought "This club are lucky to have me". Yes, egotistical, but imo exactly what we need, and the type of mind set that is required to be successful at this club.

yes I agree, although I will point out the negative lvg posters were quick to jump down the throats of the give him time supporters calling themselves realists and the supporters 'blind' when this page was in melt down.

LVG didn't go in to just pick up where Moyes or even SAF left off he went in to totally change the playing style and that takes time to embed, especially with 5 new players and a massive injury list. I wouldn't call you naive beast i would call you spoilt and think you would be great as a citeh fan, they have that WE WANT IT NOW mentality you preach so often down to a tee.
