Ah here we go again. "Manchester United will finally appoint a director of football this summer, with Andrea berta and Fabio paratici in the running" reports the Mail. Is there actually any shred of truth to this or is it the usual bs we have been hearing the last 2-3 years? 🤷‍♂️🤦.

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer for what the Daily Mail have said. Are they suggesting Manchester United have been speaking to the Fabio Paratici who is Head of Football at a very high-profile club, or talking to Andrea Berta to take him away from Atletico which will stop a couple of high-end departures? Are they expected to work with the amateurs at Manchester United and have no responsibility or not? One is a good choice and one isn't - unless the structure changes then neither would work.}

I would hope we would look to make the right changes to at least give someone a chance should we look to go down the director of football route.

I noted on a similar post on the rumours page I thought Jordi Cruyff might be a good option and have just read he may be leaving his current job ed would you see him as a good option given the correct platform?

{Ed002's Note - No.]

Digging into the article there’s actually nothing new. it states than United want to bring a DOF in this summer but then later says ED isn’t in a rush but is instead prioritising getting the club over C.V. 19 and the financial implications of that. Sorry to bother you ed002 with the usual nonsense printed by the English media. Thanks for the response.

Feels like we keep revisiting this and either they don't want to offer the DOF the full reigns so can't get who they want or Woodward is not serious about bringing one in. Maybe this time with C.V. and the constraints on clubs having a DOF in now makes good sense to the club.
We have missed out on Mitchell who has gone to Monaco (if we ever had an interest in him) and look like we are targeting ones at other big clubs (Juve/ Athletico) .
Could be another step in the right direction of righting the problems with the club that Ed002 has aluded to on numerous occasions. if we get the right person and not a half arsed set up with Ferdinand or some other ex utd player (unless its Van Der Saar)

Apparently Wesley Sneijder is on our radar ͡° ͜ʖ ͡ –.

Ed mentions the structure. Whilst I don’t know exactly what he means, I would only have a DOF who is appointed to report directly to the board and not to Woodward. The football authority line needs, for me, to be as important as the finance one, but separate. If I wanted a role like that I would want the authority directly from the board and not through Woodward. I may be wrong but we have dithered so long over a DOF, it indicates we don’t or more likely certain key decision makers don’t want change, they like decision making as is, whilst a DOF is likely to want to be able to change things. Power does funny things to people sometimes and I wonder if some enjoy it too much.
