So Joses mouthpiece duncan castles reporting that United are looking into the signing ronaldo and according to dimarzio ronaldo wants to move to United.

2 credible sources. I mean, could this actually happen?

{Ed004's Note - Ronaldo is currently my favourite player outside of Manutd in the world but I just don't think we have the players to get the best out of him. If we could get him for anything under 100 million and it wouldn't affect us strengthening our other positions I would be all for it.
However, we need to address rb, cb (done), lb and cdm if we want to get the best out of Ronaldo}

I get the feeling ed that there has always been some kind of rainy day fund to bring Ronaldo back if he wanted to come . I don't reckon it would affect the rest of our business we will lose millions off the wage list this year.

{Ed004's Note - If we are signing Ronaldo we need to build the team around him. Which means full backs that are attacking minded and have excellent deliveries. Someone he can play with up top (think Rashford or Martial would work here tbf) and midfielders who can dominate the play. Mkhitaryan, Herrera, DM, Pogba would work well}

004, reading your comments, it seems you think a lot needs to change to bring Ronaldo back. I do agree with everything you said, but do you think that in doing so we will need to double our summer budget (Ronaldo + 1 more on top of what we already plan to bring in) and fast track our progression that is probably due to happen over 1 or 2 seasons rather than one summer?

For the record, I think he's the best player of all time and would absolutely love to have him back.

{Ed004's Note - I don't see why it would be Ronaldo + 1 more. It would probably be one less. Instead of a winger (Perisic) and striker (Morata) it would probably just be Ronaldo. The priority for me this summer would be addressing our defence so that our attack has more freedom (obviously Ibrahimovic goals need replaced as well)}

I'm with you on the financial side. i'm quite sure they're would be huge commercial benefits for the club that will of set some of the increased cost.
E
004 there are not to many of us banging the full back drum. I see both sides as weak offensively not withstanding valencias good season defensively. If we are replacing shaw rose or mendy would be ideal if we are keeping him tierny wiuld be brilliant and would be a huge challenge to shaw.

Where are the commercial benefits? If we are taking shirt sales it doesn't change our deal, we don't see any of the extra cash. Where else do we earn, it's not as if we need to sell tickets is it?

Not happening, has had a stellar season and looking for a big pay rise.

It's happening this deal dudes. Every day there is more evidence and movement now reporters are all jumping on it not just the fakers. I still think someone else coming in is a bigger shock. I don't know who yet but it's something someone in Spain told me 3 weeks ago about a Chelsea player. 😆😆.

Anthony having ronaldo will increase sponsorship deals appearance fees pre season etc there are many ways that the club can benefit. There will be increased revenue for sure. Not enough to cover the cost but to help cover.
Addidas would benefit from the shirt sales not united.

Really interesting posts. Thanks!

I'm wondering though, what are the deficiencies of the current players that mean we wouldn't get the most out of Ronaldo?

ken for the 100th time just leave tierney where he is.
