Never really heard of Lindelof but was directed to a fan's video of him on You**** today. He seems to have it all and plays very much like " A Vidic " (brave and fearless) . Not a bad passer aswell . If we are successful with any transfer he looks like he would be a very good addition . KEEP THE FAITH 😆😆.

Agree3 Disagree0

Have to say from what I have seen, all these vidic comparisons are way off the mark.

He seems to be a battler but us much more reliant on his ability to be in the right place at the right time, as well as his ability to recover after mistakes. He is a big guy so all his tackles look like bruisers but I think blomqvist summed it up best by comparing him to Ronny Johnson.

Now the lad is young and only has a season of first team exp to be judged on but I think he could be a good compliment to the likes of Bailey or Jones.

so did bebe.

Am i the only one who thinks he is an unnecessary and risky signing, we need a cb but how many more young unproven cb's do we need, on top of that people i know who have actually watched him don't seem that awed by him and whatever videos i have see of him he seems to be a right sided cb, how many more rcb's do we need we already have bailly, jones and smalling. For 45mn i would steer well clear of him, he looks more like a mangala than a bailey.

Don't Diss bebe, he is currently setting Spain a light over there!

'Video clips' and 'Bebe', just need Sneijder for a line on my transfer window bingo card.

Now that Real's ban has been reduced I think we could be bringing back Ronaldo.

23 Dec 2016 09:38:06
" With Ronaldo -I HAVE A LINE GDS2" 😆😆.

Common

I also see him as a risk but I also see the merits of the move. His style of play, from what I have seen, would compliment a number of our cbs and a great pairing could be made with the likes of Bailey.

However for the fee quoted a Laporte, sokratis, or varane level player could be sought.

I think it could be a case of no other targets are attainable on the near future no matter how much money we throw around and so we are going for the best option available.

23 Dec 2016 12:38:05
el paso i think for the fee being quoted we should try and get semedo who will sort out our rb position for several years and frankly we should rather try and sign fonte who could give us 2-3 years and can then be replaced by likes of TFM, tuanzebe or ro-shaun williams.

Wasn't there strong interest in Marquinhos a while ago, apparently he has been doing very well at PSG, and can fill in at RB if we are going for young class (I suspect PSG won't sell though)?

I haven't seen anything of Lindelof, but it seems like a lot of money for a CB who has been playing in Portugal and most people have only recently heard of and seen a handful of times, because he has only played 30 odd first team games.

The thing we lack at the back is leadership and experience I very much doubt this young guy is going to come in and start issuing orders - who would listen to him as well if he did? It makes little sense to me, we need a proven class young CB if we are going that way or somebody like Godin who knows what it's all about. We must surely have learnt by now that spending £30m+ on outside the box signings very rarely come off and we can't afford to keep getting it wrong.

I suspect if Southampton, Spurs or even Arsenal were after this guy we would be hearing figures sub £20m as well. I'd be amazed if we gamble when we obviously need an experienced leader back there to improve us now.

Beast,

I love how you admit you have never seen him play and have no idea what he is like but can only say negative things about the move. Perhaps the club and Jose know a little more about players they have been scouting than you do?

23 Dec 2016 17:03:54
We'll see GDS2 - a 22 year old with 30 games for Benfica is hardly the experienced CB that most of us think we would need to strengthen us (credentials wise) .

Do you think his credentials warrant a £40m investment at this stage, or are you just trying to pick at my posts and get a rise like you usually do? Are you talking about the club that signed Schneiderlin, Depay, Shaw, Schweinsteiger in recent years and the manager that signed Torres, Pedro, Shevchenko, Baba Rahman, Filipe Luis etc, because if so, they do make mistakes from time-time?

Maybe he is the next Vidic/ Rio etc, but we need the current version for that money imo, otherwise he is yet another punt in a key area that needs serious strengthening if we are to compete for the top prizes.

23 Dec 2016 17:50:12
To be fair, Bailly was £30m and only had roughly 40 first team apps.

23 Dec 2016 18:45:37
Yeah, I'm not saying it's not going to happen and if it does it could be another shrewd deal long term - as I say I like most people will not have seen much of him at all. It's just that it would surprise me for the fee considering experience is what we are crying out for above all else and it's yet another "in a few years time etc etc etc".
