I know Celtic are poor but watching Barcelona is a delight and shows just how far we still have to go to compete with the elite.

Celtic are miles behind different classes of players.
And how does that game compare us to barcelona.

That's what happens when we have to get by on the poor SPFL tv deal money and have a CEO who won't show ambition and spend a bit of cash on a decent playmaker to hold onto the ball and pick out a pass, tonight's performance was just an embarrassment whatever nonsense Rodgers comes out with, it's hard to believe we were once European Champion's and one of the most exciting attack minded team's to watch after watching that dross.

Sad to say it but Celtic are far and away the worst side in the ECL this season. I think its a bit harsh to blame the coach, how do you polish a turd?
As much as Celtic fans would like to disagree Rangers getting relegated has had a knock on effect to their club. With no real rivalry or competition Celtic have stagnated.
Although the biggest impacting factor is probably the EPL TV deal. Celtic used to pick off some of the best players from the lower end EPL teams and the best players from the top of the Championship. But with the money the Prem teams have Celtic have been unable to compete with wages and transfer fees. To compound that the parachute payments the teams relegated from the Prem recieve mean that most of the teams in the top half of the championship are still recieving hefty sums. This forces Celtic to look to lower leagues and the back waters or Europe for new talent.
It would be impossible for Celtic to keep hopd of a Henrik Larsson nowadays.
So the standard of their team has dropped to the level of a league one or bottom half Championship side. You don't have to be an elite team to spank a side that far down the football pyramid. Its actually very sad.
And Jamesbhoy, Nottingham forrest won it twice, where are they now? Its a competition, there are no free rides. The saying is if you can't stand the heat the get outta the kitchen. As fans you need to make your owners sit up and take notice, otherwise your team will continue to slip into the darkness.

We have did something shappy we removed the last board and got a share issue going to save the club then Fergus McCann left with a 40m profit on his original investment, then the billionaire Dermot Desmond came in and never gave the next 4 managers any decent cash to spend, now the 5th manager of Desmond's tenure is in place it seems nothing has changed, who said anything about getting a free ride? it's all down to lack of investment by the board, we removed one board and i'm sure we can remove another. Incidentally Forest in the Championship get more tv money than us, i'm also a United fan and i can remember the wilderness years so this can happen to any club whatever their size if there's no investment in the team.

The problem is once Rangers we relegated the board realised they were going to win the league every year, so serious investment was only needed to be able to compete in Europe, I think they have meekly accepted that isn't likely to happen so there's no point spending the money chasing a European dream.

I would be delighted to se Utd playing like Barcelona did. With pace quick incisive movement and imagination. I know Celtic are poor but watching Barcelona was pure football Joy. As one of the TV pundits pointed out they have possibly the best front three ever and yet are not selfish and happy to set each other up. No one is bigger than the team Rooney wouldn't get a look in at Barca.

{Ed007's Note - Just a point here, Shappy, Rangers weren't relegated. They went bust and were allowed to re-join the league system at a higher level than they should have.
There's nothing to say, Herbs, there's no shame in getting trounced with one of the best teams in the world when you compare the two teams.
Like Man Utd this season, there isn't much in the CL that interests me, I loathe the competition for what it has done to football.}
