eds other poster moving aside from pogab and other transfer drama, premier league is introducing new rules regarding player behaviour with regards to referees, for those who don't know following will be yellow card and red card offences from now on.

Yellow card
Visibly disrespectful behaviour to any match official.
An aggressive response to decisions.
Confronting an official face to face.
Running towards an official to contest a decision.
Offensive, insulting or abusive language and/ or gestures towards match officials.
Physical contact with any match official in a non-aggressive manner.
A yellow card for at least one player when two or more from a team surround a match official.

Red card
If a player confronts match officials and uses offensive, insulting or abusive language and/ or gestures towards them.
Physical contact with match officials in an aggressive or confrontational manner.

If implemented i see many matches ending up 5v5, i don't know how well this will work and with referees involved, i can see claims of bias.

{Ed001's Note - a week of the refs sticking to it and the abuse would stop. Though it is a good job Fergie has retired.....}

Agree2 Disagree0

And Roy Keane lol.

problem ed001 is consistency, even without these rules we have seen refs booking some players for touching them eg. oliver booking di maria for touching him, while doing nothing to some others when that given scenario could be considered far more confrontational eg again oliver, this time not booking hart for what looked like clash of heads.

{Ed001's Note - I agree, if the refs did clamp down though, players would stop doing it immediately.}

So a yellow Card for
"Physical contact with any match official in a non-aggressive manner. "
So if the referee walks backwards into some player who can't get out of the way quick enough has to result in a booking for said player?
Wow that's going to be interesting 😂.

If they apply the laws they will be obeyed. It won't take long for it to bed down. But all referees must be consistent with the application of those laws or its pointless.
It's been let Get completely out of hand. Cl matches and international matches it doesn't happen as often. I think referee familiarity breeds contempt. The referees are too friendly with some players imo.

I agree if refs put there foot down over the verbal and all that rubbish at corners if would stop with in 2 week.

The problem is a lot of the time the rules are applied too inconsistently. You'll see a player get a red for an offence only for another player in another game only get a yellow.

I agree with ed1. If they clamped down on it and were consistent the play acting, diving, rolling around, waving imaginary cards and ref abuse would cease. The worst for me is when someone goes down clutching their face or hits the deck an rolls over a dozen times.

james we still have rooney, he is going to have to learn to keep his mouth shut after foul being called, i can't even imagine what will happen with chelsea matches with the whole team's penchant for surrounding referees.

Then maybe we could take refs off for making blindingly stupid decisions too.

Remember when they tried to introduce something like this a few seasons ago, after the A Cole incident. It soon fizzed out.

Hopefully the refs stick it. It's about time we saw some respect for officials etc back in the game. We've got slot to learn from Rugby in that respect.

We never do that stuff anyway and i wish we would protest a bit more tbh. Chelsea on the other hand might end up playing with 6 or 7 guys every game.

If they introduced the same rules in spain i think real would have 3 guys left on the pitch lol.
