Banter please Eds :)

Just want to add my two cents about Maze's comparison between Memphis and Sterling, there is no absolute distinguishable factor as it currently stands between Memphis and Sterling except for the fact Sterling was lucky enough to grab a hat trick this weekend.

The stats are very very similar and on comparison the Stats for Memphis aren't that bad in fact it says to me that he's a player still coming to grips to a new league but he loses the ball too much, is that down to trying too hard or is it down to not being 100% ready as already outlined by Ed002, it could be interpreted as a player who tries but has a lot to learn still and will, given the right support.

You're comparing 1 player (Memphis) who has just moved to a new league and being moved up a step before he was ready against a player who has played in the top flight of the PL for over 3 seasons in a team that most people have said are superior to us at this this moment in time, which suggests Sterlings stats should be much better. Personally I don't rate Sterling and I think we should be backing our own talent instead of being so unforgiving

Interesting post, where did you get it from if i may ask.

Sterling not worth the money and Depay needs to improve quite a bit and needs time.

For me the stat that stands out is Depay's lack of creating chances and zero assists. Also losing the ball 25 times a game seems very high, are you sure?

The shooting accuracy should also be better for a striker/winger. We all know how wasteful sterling can be and snatch at things but he still has better numbers.

Good stats mate. key for me is chances created and losses of the ball.

Goal did a comparison of the 2 on their Facebook page GCU for the derby

Based on the amount of touches Mephis takes he is looking to be more involved and as a result of inexperience is leading to errors in loss of possession. But is a better dribbler than Sterling. The stat that stands out for me is Sterling on only 1 assist, you would think that he would have it higher than that. Additionally Mephis has less chances created because it seems he dribbles and loses the ball and tries too hard by wanting to do it all himself, again inexperience, once he drops the I can do it myself attitude I think we'll see a completely different Memphis. Sterling on the other you'd expect stellar stats for that price tag 😛.

Beast I think that's the part of the philosophy LVG wants him to improve most, it's blatantly obvious he needs to be a bit more clever and selfless in his decision making, which you hope to expect with time and maturity. Again time will tell but I think we will know in the next game he plays if being dropped and getting a talking to was enough to add some maturity to his game. Key word being maturity.

Bg

I agree. I think he is on a steep learning curve and finding out the PL is much tougher league and competition and with much better players and needs to change his approach and attitude towards how he goes about things.

I also don't believe being benched one game is going to change much and believe he should be used selectively and when he shows significant improvements then potentially getting back a starting spot.

Giving the ball away 25 times a game if the above stats are accurate is just not going to cut the mustard in any of the top clubs in Europe.
