I think this season we are turning out to be the team similar to that of SAF during his last three seasons. During his last three seasons we were rarely exciting team to watch. Even though we were not playing well, we would have grabbed all three points. Infact we rarely geared up but we managed to score goals and grab valuable points. Similarly now, although we have scored 3 goals in last three games we have rarely upped our gear . We look comfortable in possession and only try to score when it is of good chance to score.
I think this month of October will be decisive month for us. I reckon it will be the month when we will finally up our gear and start to play in high tempo because slow possession may be the LVG way but those teams attacking us will force us to do just more than keeping possession.
I am very happy that we are on top of the table and will be delighted if even we are in 2nd after all these games have been played

No no srestha, there are no similarities at all. We only ever played swashbuckling stuff under fergie ;)
On a serious note I agree with the post, it's clear that we have gradually improved and are starting to look like we might actually contend this year. It will be very interesting to see where we are after the Xmas as traditionally the teams who are at the top come the new year are the ones who contend to be champions.
I am delighted also as we seem to only be getting better, it bodes well.

Check the goals scored, the last 2 seasons have been dire. We may not have been swashbuckling but we scored goals

I wrote a post yesterday saying how I think the football is actually better now than the last years under Fergie, people keep saying they are bored but I'm really not at the moment, we have played some boring football but at the moment we aren't, the passing seems to be happening a lot further forward, we aren't just knocking it around aimlessly at the back (like we did especially in the 3-5-2 formation) which is pulling defenders here there and everywhere and tiring the opposition out.

AJH, he was referring to this season, the similarities between right now and SAF last few seasons. Not the past 2 seasons where we scored no where near the amount of goals we have in the past. It was a tongue and cheek remark because some fans refuse to acknowledge the fact we played some dire football under fergie too.

GDS, I think some people have made up their mind we are boring to watch before a match has even started. Apart from the final score, some could write their match reports the day before the match due to their preconceived ideas and expectations. Some of our football has been very good and entertaining. I think some would ne better of watching the lower leagues where there is plenty of fast paced huff and puff football but no control or technique. Just hing ho typical English football of old.
Not saying all of United is edge of your seat stuff at the moment, but it has been much better than 12 or 18 months ago.
People see what they want to see. Rooneys goal against Ipswich being a fine example. Tremendous pass from Blind, great control from.Rooney and an excellent finish. Then you see comments on here that it was Lon ball stuff! Utter nonsense.

Fully agree with all of that, it is disappointing that people are unwilling to see what is happening and are too pig headed (I presume) to accept they may have been wrong. I don't think we are playing boring football, best goal difference in the league, scoring freely, could have had a few more in recent games as well, I am not entirely sure what people are after.
To be fair though, we have just been lucky that every team we have played has been rubbish and every team City and Chelsea have played have been amazing.

You know the old saying mate, you can only beat what is in from of you. What are we meant to do, " oh look, Sunderland are crap and really struggling. let's be nice and let em have a point".

But hey, what do I know? I support the team and have a positive attitude. I'm just an LvG lover.

Agree mate! Although we are not playing that kind of sexy football everyone wants but i don't think we are playing that boring either. Infact i have enjoyed our last three matches. The team is still clicking and i fully expect to see better fluidity in the gameplay .

Spot on mate. Some people really tend to find negative in everything . Just look at Beast's comment on above post. It is like every goal we scored were all down to luck.
