How about DDG going to Real. Di Maria being sold and Ronaldo in return. Could be affordable and popular. I didn't say sensible though.
Could sound good for the short term for many.
Let us not forget the Fergie era though. That evolved with kids. Not money. Most stayed till the end as well. Which can cause consistency.
