As a distraction from the circus that is transfer silly season, I have a fun question to pose to the regular posters on here.

If you were to play for Manchester United, what number would you choose to wear and why?

I am aware there is going to be a lot people choosing 7 for obvious reasons but no matter. Personally I would choose 15 because although I didn't play much football as a kid, just for a local club and for my school, when I did play I always played centre back, and Nemanja Vidic was a massive hero of mine during that time what with me still being a youngster at 18.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I were to play at United, I'd bang Woody's door until he gave out a new shirt number to new someone.

I always wore 9 as I play up front and growing up as a child I used to love Ronaldo (Brazilian) and shearer. So I think I'd want that number

11 for me. I'm only 5'6 and was pretty much always played out wide when I was growing up and for a few amateur teams. Ryan Giggs was my hero growing up so that's my reasons.

No 11 as I was a winger and wore the number all the way through the time I played from age 10 to 33.

number 8 for me, pretty much wore it from age 7 onwards

Cant believe you guys managed to keep your numbers so long as i had that many clubs mine was always changing. For me at united it would have to be 21 especially if it also meant i got to score a goal against the scousers.

Mine would be 2, always played as an attacking fullback.

Well I do have a fondness for number 2 as I had a man/fan crush on the leg-end that is Mike Duxbury our early 80s RB. But my Halesini shirt is a 7 and I'm creating a wall of signed 7s (Beckham, Cantona, Robson, Ronaldo)

7 but not for the usual reasons , it is because I once walked down the tunnel (when it was in the middle) as a spectator, right behind Steve Coppell who had the number 7 shirt , as the team went out. The roar hit you and I will always remember it and wished I was good enough. I mostly played in 7 or 2 but for United the number isn't relevant just being on the pitch

Number 23 for me, I have always had that number as I seem to be very superstitious I wouldn't change it.
