Hi Ed, can you shed any light on the ongoing manager saga? Journalists and different people say talks are continuing with other manager representatives. Is this true or is ten hag set to stay? Are they talking to anyone in particular, as some say tuchel and some say poch.

{Ed002's Note - The club have spoken with several options or their representatives including Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, Roberto De Zerbi, Graham Potter, Kieran McKenna, Zinedine Zidane and Gareth Southgate who may be a safe bet and very much on the list for Jim Ratcliffe. Available after the Euros and has been of interest before.

I am not sure if a final decision has been made yet but I still think he will depart and I suspect Mauricio Pochettino or Gareth Southgate will replace him.}

Agree0 Disagree9

Please let it be anyone but Southgate. Dire football…….

09 Jun 2024 09:54:59
I agree plus not Southgate. don't think anybody wants him. I'd like ten hag to stay now but if it's poch I wouldn't be too mifted. I wanted poch pre ten hag as he seems to mould very good sides. Anyway we'll find out soon enough, but please not Southgate.

That was crying out for a RTFP.

If ETH goes there is only one option in my opinion, and that’s Poch. Anybody else wouldn’t make sense.

I would imagine 99% of fans would be against Southgate before a ball is even kicked.

I was all for a replacement, but I’ve changed my mind and don’t mind if ETH stays. Just a little worried that if gets a bad start and is 8th or something by Xmas it could all go very bad and we’d end up looking for a new manager mid season, when all the good options are now in other jobs.

09 Jun 2024 14:20:21
Considering this is a new update from ed002 Wazza you’re wrong and being negative for the sake of it.

Eth has stipulations in his contract regarding power so he can’t carry on next season unless Ineos allow his input or they offer a new contract with new responsibilities.

Changes more than the weather.

Looks a bit like amateur hour to me. make the decision guys.

09 Jun 2024 16:35:42
Tuchel is a non runner anyway, please be Poch, I’d be in a deep state of depression if Southgate was appointed, surely a man in touch with things would realise the fan base does not want Southgate or have to wait for a manager to be in place, tho hopefully England will be home a week on Sunday,

09 Jun 2024 16:27:25
Romano reporting that Tuchel has pulled out of the running for United.

09 Jun 2024 17:14:59
Poch is not an improvement on what we have.

Instead we are wasting time on an unnecessary "review" rather than getting the right people into their positions and starting on player targets. This should have all been sorted weeks if not months ago.

I wouldn't be surprised if we miss out on key targets and pay inflated fees and contracts for our second and third choice.

There really isn't anything to get excited about this Ineos era so far. I hope that changes soon.

Depends if you think a footballing structure in place improved ETH’s in game management decisions because his in game tactics or lack thereof was a real concern. Is Poch better than ETH, time will tell but if we didn’t win the fa cup I think a lot would’ve been remembering the inept displays and in game management a lot more, injuries or not, other themes suffered injuries and it didn’t effect their style of play, we mostly said that we couldn’t see a style of play, so all of this doesn’t disappear because we played well and beat City in a one off game. I wanted Poch a while back when he left Spurs, I think he’s a good fit.

Totally WRD.

09 Jun 2024 18:53:22
If reports are true and Sancho is available for 40m, does that not suggest the board are backing the manager not the player?
Sancho reportedly stated he would come back to UTD if eth wasn't there, now he is on the market, not that he wasn't, but he certainly is now.

09 Jun 2024 17:31:10
Thank you Ed! Do you know if they’ve held talks with Poch?

{Ed002's Note - I explained that in my reply, but used his proper name and not som Gangsta Rap name you gave for him.}

09 Jun 2024 20:02:21
Jason Burt in The Telegraph now saying that Mauricio Pochettino unlikely….

Looks like it’s going to be Gareth Southgate or Di Zerbi….

Waistcoats at the ready….

09 Jun 2024 20:46:24
Or Eth, Wallace.

09 Jun 2024 21:00:15
Heard there’s been too many issues with ETH’s problems with communicating his ideas effectively to players Jimbo (with some senior players complaining about it) so looks like INEOS want a change.

Think Ed002 said once that Southgate might be OK if he brings his coaches with him….

09 Jun 2024 21:21:19
Another twist would be if ETH stays he has 1 year or thereabouts on his contract - if they don't offer him an extended contract immediately then we will have the weekly saga of the media pressure and the daily tabloid pundits asking why hasn't his contract been extended -whereas most fans seem to be leaning towards giving ETH a 6 month trial - I don't see SJR telling him he has 6-9 months to win a new contract so its the sack or a new contract as far as i see it.

10 Jun 2024 06:46:36
You've heard? From who?
His ideas are not being received by said players is the other way of looking at this.
If that were the case, and history having a habit of repeating itself, I would say some of the players need to leave if they don't understand the instructions or are unable/ unwilling to carry them out.
Said many times, the manager is not, and quite often, has never been the problem.
I would go one further and say in some instances, it hasn't been the players faults over the last 10-15yrs, it has been the folk recruiting them and assembling a team of players unable to operate together as a collective.

09 Jun 2024 21:55:01
Interesting turn of events. Is anybody else talking to Pochettino Ed, or Southgate for that matter?

{Ed002's Note - Yes he has spoken with two other clubs.}

10 Jun 2024 04:58:28
Sorry Ed, thank you for the answers on Mauricio Pochettino. It’s just been very stressful as a fan not knowing when we will have an answer.

10 Jun 2024 18:21:58
It’s stressful because you have no patience and want want want. Everything will become clearer in the next few weeks so there is no point raising your blood pressure over it.
