Really Deano? Looks like the cat is out of the bag.
That's no shock, eth has been aware of that for some time I believe.
Let's not count our chickens and let's hope we get official confirmation from the club in the next couple of weeks.
Some really good managers available, the United job is a great opportunity for whomever they choose.

Whats to be will be and hopefully whatever is decided works out for us. Its hard to be excited about a new boss after so many false hopes. I still think eth deserves a bit more time, so we'll see.

Option 1 for me is still retain EtH.
If the media get their wish and EtH is released, option 2 is McKenna.

I can find a multitude of reasons for all other candidates as to why they should NOT be out next manager, with McKenna the only concern is inexperience at a higher level.

Sorry tumble but disagree on many good managers out there
I think there all pretty average
Not one floats my boat
Just prey it ain’t Southgate.

As said before. If SJR wants to fix this debacle NOW then he must replace ETH. Not because he is at fault but because we don’t know that he isn’t.

You have two things potentially causing an issue and you need to fix it first time. You replace both. Simple JFDI quality control methodology. You then do the diagnosis on the actual root cause.

BUT

If SJR is willing to put up with this for a longer period, and he feels he has removed all other failure points, then certainly keep ETH. Get the infrastructure in place and see if the fault still remains. If not then ETH is the man. If we are still an abject failure, replace the second suspected causal factor.

Ain’t rocket science. And you can be sure, as a very successful person, that this is exactly what he is doing. Standard big business practice.

Keefy, best explanation/ view I’ve seen on this on going debate. Got to agree fully on it.

If the players can't play for ten hag, change the players. I think he can get us to the top, but it will take some time.

Whoever leads this group it will take a long time to challenge. We are miles behind and still have many problems to resolve. It also seems like cash is a big issue. And if we don't get into europe with an fa cup win. We lose a lot of revenue next season.

Ineos have their work cut out.

22 May 2024 23:54:32
Where were bayer leverkusen when alonso took over?
It can be done quicker than you think. Good coaching goes a long way DB.
I agree they have their work cut out. Epl is a bigger challenge for sure.
We have never been this bad in the epl so it's a big climb but with some good decisions and some good luck big strides can be made.

My layman's opinion would still be keep ETH for a year under the new structure. Meanwhile, monitor McKenna. If, against all odds he keeps Ipswich in the EPL, and our situation hasn't discernibly improved, then move for him. If our situation shows the required improvement, then stick.

Poch or De Zerbi would be an upgrade to ETH in my opinion. Not sure about Mckenna needs to prove himself in the Premier League first.

Any announcement about who the head coach next season should be given next week after the FA Cup final so we can only wait. And maybe hope for a cheeky win.

23 May 2024 09:56:31
Nobody should be shocked. Tumble bloke has been telling us this for weeks. He even let ETH know.

23 May 2024 10:24:39
That's right fizzy pop you can't say your weren't told. Excellent observation.

23 May 2024 13:29:14
How exactly would De Zerbi be an upgrade? After he got Potters team, he did well, but deteriorated so much this season. No upgrade at all.

23 May 2024 16:58:32
Poor finish to the season indeed trololo. Imo he has had his head turned and was frustrated with players being sold.
It was not his choice to have his first choice midfielders sold.
He still finished higher this season than Potter did on 3 occasions so you are incorrect on that. He also qualified for Europe last year and the squad was too thin to take on all those extra games hence the poor finish.
I've no idea where he will go but I suspect Milan or napoli would be delighted to get him.
I think ed002 said he was on the list of possibilities for united but not 1st choice.

23 May 2024 20:07:51
I'm not counting any chickens Ken. I think sacking the manager now would be a mistake. I would let him see out his final year.

24 May 2024 07:40:43
Tubmle, what team did Potter inherit and what he left for De Zerbi? At the time when Potter left for Chelsea, they had best start in their history, so who is to say that he wouldn't achieve european qualification as De Zerbi did?
Potter also lost key players, this is what they have in common.
Its not just poor end of the season, they were poor throughout the season as well. What I agree is that their thin squad, combined with injuries influenced their result (but that also influenced Ten Hag results, who you want out) .
