People seem to be far too hung up on prices for players and if people are "worth/ not worth" certain amounts. Football has officially gone mad and it won't be long, maybe even this window when a player moves for 100m. As fans we do contribute to the money at the clubs but we can't affect what they pay for transfers or wages so it's pretty pointless going on about it. If the board sanction 60m or Dier or 50m for Perisic then so be it. As long as they do the business on the pitch I'm not fussed how much they cost or if they are "worth" it. No player is worth millions, not a single one. It is what it is unfortunately. For as good as football is on the pitch it's an ugly monster off it.

Agree7 Disagree1

I mainly agree but I have, as always, a small pedantic point.

A player is worth what the market says they are worth. The very fact that someone is bought for x amount means that is their worth by definition. We might not like it, but they are worth what clubs pay or they wouldn't pay it.

Apart from, you know, Leeds in 2004.

What are you on about, Rom? You simply are not allowed to talk sense here anymore. Barring a few, you will be hounded on this post. Prepare yourself for the wrath from a certain "amazing" one.

Rom,

Couldn't agree more, the worst thing about the debate is that nobody actually has the facts on what the club are willing to spend or the ins and outs of the deals. To get the players we need we have to pay a premium, that is just life, clubs know we are the richest club in the world and know we are getting loads of TV money so are likely to ask for more.

Genuinely think some people would prefer us to sign nobody and just bring through youth players until we are bottom half of the table and then they can moan about that. IT is actually quite funny as 7-8 years ago when we weren't spending big people had green and gold scarfs and were saying the Glazers are allowing the club to drop down a level, now we have a club willing to invest and people are moaning about that, it may just be that certain 'amazing' people on here just like to moan.

Stop with the bullying guys, it is unbecoming of us.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and as we all know the addage:

Opinions are like ar$eholes; we all have one.

Good post gibbon .

On prices or wages, it's only an issue when it's
A. It's a player at another club.
B. It's a player someone doesn't rate .

The money if football especially the English game is nuts at the moment but that's the way it is .

Where's the bullying funky? Couldn't see it in the above posts. I thought everyone was in agreement.
