Does rather seem that Mouribgo is working his way through the squad to get each individual into the right frame of mind to get the best out of them, almost reprogramming them after the disaffection from LvG regime: Valencia Rojo Jones Rooney Mata Martial Herrera etc - all seem to have had their moment in the headlines as each is threatened/ rested/ praised etc. (Perhaps even Schweibsteiger now! )

Though significant those players who haven't been in the headlines because they've essentially been ignored: Depay Schneiderlin Young etc - maybe these are the players who'll be moving on in Jan? Not sure about Luke Shaw though - how many times will Jose try to provoke him into trying harder before he gives up and sells him?

Just shows the huge task Jose has in his hands though.

i agree in that we seem to be devloping on a distinct style of play, last night the front 4 were very good linked up well and player seem to be expressing themselves more and we play so many more forward passes now actually taking risks in posession.

I am absolutely in love with the fact that how Jose is doing all the good work behind the scenes.
First thing he did was give Carrick an extension. Something many managers wouldn't have done. LVG was stupid to let him leave. He's 35 we know, but what he adds is nobody in the squad can. His fitness, attitude, and he doesn't like he's going to run out in midfield.
He threw Bastian under the bus and you see Bastian, and he looks so fit, slimmer than Shaw I reckon, and he brings him back to the team.
I think shaw did have a decent game yesterday, it does seem something is troubling him and I know jose will get it right.

Your right it was a real pleasure to watch the fluid and forward thinking passes/ flicks etc

Now that Martial and Miki are potentially back in the mix - pkusRooney having such a good game at no.10 (where does that leave Mata now? ) - wonder what his best 11 is now looking like? Plus Jones doing well at CB?!

Maybe this also changes transfer priorities: CB and holding midfielder like Carroll?

Carrick!

I think Mourinho is doing a great job. And I also think he's already lost patience with Shaw and even Smalling.
Shaw is quick, but he can't defend to save his life and he certainly doesn't have the football brain or the mentality to become a top footballer. Blind is much better in that position.
Smalling and Schneiderlin are just not good enough and should be shipped out.
I would love us to go for De Vrijil from Southampton, but I think the scousers might get him.

shaw will be fine, give him a few month and he will be fine .
there wasnt many post on here slagging shaw off when we spent 30 mil on him . out bidding jose at chelsea.
he was playing well before a very bad injury and these things can take time .
its not as simple as people think, after a long spell out like shaw has had, it can take time.

Sorry jred but I would disagree on that. Shaw only played a handfu of good games for us one season (probably 10 games in all last season) . The season before that he was fat and unfit and his attitude questioned.

I hope though he finds his feet and regains the confidence and gets back to his best that we know he is capable of.

shan
i would disagree with that .
but each to there own .
im always impressed that people can tell that a player who trains everyday is fat and unfit from there armchair .
when the medical team etc can't .

01 Dec 2016 16:21:33
Im a little sketchy on the medical side.

The medical team deem a player physically fit to play and this will obviously have an element of body weight in that decision making.

BUT does that mean the player is at his physical best? i.e - even if deemed fit to play by the Dr, can the Manager and fitness team still look and ask the player to do more to reach their peak?

That is not my conclusion jred. These were the words of the then Man Utd manager.
