In reply to Lastsanemanalive and Redman's posts on the others page.

Really top top post guys.

Hats off to Redman for getting it bang on. The so called United Way is serious emotional baggage. Winning is the only United Way for me. Champions is the only United Way.

I'd rather see united playing exciting football and bringing youngsters through, while fighting it out for third place every year, than abandoning our values to win every year.

Winning is great, but if we abandon the values that make this club what it is, we're no better than Chelsea or City.

Thorne the thing is, we aren't even doing that. We aren't playing football the right way, are awful to watch and the youngsters being brought through isn't by design.

I have absolutely no doubt that Rashford and Fosu Mensah were not even in the manager's thinking at the start of the season.

Thorne, completely agree. The reason I started supporting the club when I was a kid was because of the youngsters coming through and the attacking football. That is what United is about.

If we get Jose in I just hope there's a conversation that demands he brings some youth through, gives the likes of Rashford and Mensah a decent chance and respects the United way.

Winning is important but ignoring our history is disrespectful to the great players and managers who worked to make it what it is. All the staff and all the players need to remember that they are here to emulate the example set by the busby babes. THAT is who we are.

Red Joe, that is exactly what emotional baggage means.

I by no means am disrespecting the greatness of the history of this club. But its time we evolve with time. Do not ditch the tradition, but embed newness in the tradition. Its not the 50s or the 90s anymore and we need to understand that Manchester United is much more than just a football club. Its a franchise, its a business like any other top flight football club.

And to be honest, like I wrote a few days ago, to tons of disagrees, United is followed all over the world, not only because of the youth that we are bringing through, but because of its star appeal. Bring through youth to play with the stars. Don't totally depend on the young ones to deliver greatness. Even the class of 92 had someone like Cantona to look upon.

You would "rather see united playing exciting football and bringing youngsters through, while fighting it out for third place every year, than abandoning our values to win every year"

I endured everyone of the 26 years, the seventies and eighties where I heard all that stuff repeated over and over. I stood on the Stretford End singing "we've won X all again". Today's fans listen to the emotion not the reality. We were desperate to win the league, we had exciting football put in front of us by Docherty and Atkinson but it wasn't enough. To me it seems fans have forgotten what our aims are and that is to win. Fancy football didn't give us what we desired for over 20 years and it's about time fans got real otherwise we are another Arsenal. As to being no better than City or Chelsea, no doubt when they start winning more of the big trophies your tune will change. I know from watching 20 years some with exciting football but no end product it became meaningless.

Nothing beats winning, certainly not fancy dan football.

Totally agree red man. Wining is all that matters.
