So the window closed and now we can see what we have to play with until January at least.

I think the balance in the squad is much better than it was. We brought in some good players in most of the positions we lacked and have now shifted some of the squad players. There are some disappointing shortfalls, centre back being one, however I wonder if Woodwards trip to Barca was to sound out LaPorte for a future window, time will tell. In attack we look light, we rely too much on Rooney and the right side needed creativity and pace.

We have a thinner leaner squad but what LvG does is give youth a chance and if I was a younger player at OT then the path to the first team is a lot clearer than it was. We have also saved a huge amount on wages so the accountants and owners will be rubbing their hands, which made me wonder if they are lining up a big profit for next June in preparation for a sale in 2017.

I think Martial is an interesting signing and heard that there are several of the big clubs round Europe are a bit miffed that we got him. Would he have come if we had bought a major forward before him, possibly not but he can see he will get playing time. I look forward to seeing him develop.

Overall a decent window repositioning the squad, however we are several top players short of a title winning team, I believe third at best this season. It also occurred to me that this may be lvg's last season and at least next summer there should be enough money for the new manager.

Red man, good summary. Though I have to say that United are one of the biggest clubs in the world and it is disappointing that our recruitment policy has been one in line with the lesser teams. Before anyone starts, schweni, schneiderlin darmian and Memphis are excellent additions, while Romero is 3rd choice gk at best, and Martial remains to be seen. Where are the big name signings that a club like ours craves, I don't mean any signing.
But our right side needs sorting, Greizman had a buy out clause, so why didn't we go in for him?
Our defence still looms suspect, so why didn't we strengthen the centre back position?
And the ddg saga has just been utterly ridiculous, embarrassing and has left us in limbo. Ddg wants to go, navas wants to come, we should have made sure that happened instead trying to teach Madrid who's boss. RM are a huge club and they hold all the aces, so let's not go annoying threm or any other club for that matter. In business, I have learned that no matter how much someone annoys you, you never burn your bridges as one day you might need that someone to further your cause. It seems that our relations with RM are at an all time low, this might sound good as they know we are Manchester United but it also leaves future dealings such as the Bale deal for example at risk.
And what will happen to ddg now? Does he sit on the touchline, play in the reserves? What good is that to united, to our reputation or to the player?
I think Woodward, lvg and the owners better sit down and discuss how this club should be run in future, because right now, we are the laughing stock of the football world.

maybe the club don't buy players based on reputation.
we may of bought players the club feel are good and are right for the team.
36 mill for martial is hardly the policy of a lesser team .
also maybe the club think depay is as good as greizmen

I think if DDG actually realises that Madrid got cold feet and effectively dumped him he may sign a new contract. It may have a lucrative release clause but if I was him and believed it was Madrids fault it's what I would do.
