If reports are to be believed, it looks like there are some interesting mind games being employed in the De Gea saga with retaliatory negotiating strategies being used by RM and the player to try and force United to buckle in and accept a lower fee. The club is using the fact that it now has 2 goalies to feign relative lack of interest in or need for a transfer, while the player is exhibiting disinterest in continuing to provide his services at the high level we've come to expect.

I'd just say to De Gea it's fine by us, we've got goalies who are dying to play for this club and show what they can do, so if you want to sit on the bench for a year, go ahead and continue with this approach. It'll look great for your European Nations Cup credentials.

But, I wonder, how much of what's going on is down to LVG's abrasive personality?

I read a report this morning saying that LVG has told the board to sell De Gea, apparently LVG wasn't happy about the 'mistakes' he made against PSG and doesn't think De Gea's heart is with UTD anymore.

He looked like he was trying against Barcelona.

It will be £20/25m however they dress it up. We should push for a RM player as separate signing.
Maybe his attitude in training is not what it was. i can't believe that attitudes towards this changes after 1 bad half!

I posted a couple of weeks ago saying that unless RM had made a sensible offer by Aug 1 we should say to DDG our season starts next weekend, you are our number 1 GK and you are not going to be sold in his transfer window. The only slight caveat would be if RM agreed to play ball with ramos or benzema since either of these players would strengthen us in areas where we are short.
